Mac. Not MAC. It's an abbreviation for Macintosh, not an acronym for "Maintenance Administration Center" or something.

And I am told beta-testing is a lot less fun than it seems to people who have never done it.

Yes, there are a quite a few Finnish fans here. I can currently only remember Riibu, though. TGM is still banned(?), and I can't think of anyone else.

Either the Finnish translator I used is awful, or Finnish is an odd language. :P

However, I believe that most people here think the same about Avernum 4. :)

Says the person who compiles the monthly top 10 list and is proud to be #1. :P

If you make a list, some people will naturally want to get to the top of it. (There are some pretty useless things in the Guiness book of records.)

However, I agree that this obsession with statistics is getting rediculous, which is why I decided to see how much I can post, while posting only on this thread.

It also fails to occur to me how claiming to "win the game of losing" is being proud of an accomplishment. :P

Point taken, though. I actually had planned to stop the ranking list this month, but then I came out first for the first time ever, so I decided to put it in one more time.

I wasn't sure about the electric chair, but the idea that executions are done by hanging in the US sounds very weird. It's most certainly cruel and unusual.

But let's not let this degrade into another discussion on Death Penalty (or did we ever have one?). :P

Here's a world map I made from rough conjecture, whole cloth and spit. No, none of the continents besides Valorim has a shape designed by Jeff.

Here's another topic about Ermarian.

I gather you mean it is used to cure heart failure, not to cause it. :P

Is it still used for execution? Where - certainly not the US?

Edit: It is. Well, there are crazier things than the death penalty in the US.

edit: Oh and Ree-Bok hell yea!!

When it is clear that you are dealing with not just an intelligent entity, but a significantly powerful one at that, I don't think "borrowing" is quite the right term.

That said, I am wondering how they managed to capture them when apparently a crystal soul is capable of frying the brains of ordinary mortals at several paces. An explanation might have been given in the game, but I don't remember it.

With the trouble insurance companies generally give you when it comes to actually paying you anything, I'd be relieved they offer something close to a fair deal. The 300 bucks sting, of course, especially if that's close to a month's wage or two.

Oh, and I would be surprised if they were persuaded by evidence of the kind you speak of. They weren't persuaded by you paying the full price, so why should they be by some stranger offering another car for the same?

It fails to occur to me why it gives prestige to people to be the most prolific producer of what is ultimately rubbish of the first degree. Perhaps Djur is right about his definition of Spiderweb (I don't remember that verbatim, but I recall the gist).

But speculating about it might hurt egos, so I won't go into it further.

If you think about it for a while, you will realize that in a pre-space technology era, it does not make one bit of difference to the inhabitants (who are the ones inventing the name) whether they live on a moon or on a planet. Especially given that they quite possibly still believe their world is flat and supported by a giant tortoise.

---

However, living on a moon with a very slow rate of rotation (like our moon, where night and day last two weeks each) would explain why one can cross a continent on foot in around two days. :P

Since one of the primary purposes of anaesthesia was to stop the patient from feeling pain, the sense of this technique sounds questionable.

But then again, I suppose there is worse pain than a hammer to the skull. Also, surgeons can work more easily if they don't need to restrain a patient.

I am eager to see Alex's cartoon.

Because I am teh plagiator. Crudely drawn, bad text and overly unoriginal. As fan-art goes. :(
