Not weirded out as such. Talking to strangers/a large group of people does make me nervous. But it is not that bad when it is actually face-to-face. Calling a stranger over the phone usually takes me some time to prepare.

I guess the worst combination of the two would equate to being interviewed on the radio. Talking to a large crowd I can't see... :P

And finally, by the time I get around to ordering the DVD, it will likely cost the same as two shows in the cinema. And guess how often I can watch it.

Edit: Also, I'll be safe from the fanboys. LotR was barely endurable. I'm thankful I've never been in Harry Potter, and I don't want to know what StarWars is like. :P

Well, in a literal sense my bosses give me new tasks over the phone (occasionally by email) when they can't be bothered to walk over to my office. Which probably doesn't qualify as on-call, but it sure is stressful. :P

For the record, I hate phones. Talking face to face makes me nervous, talking without any visual contact at all is worse.

You may not have much use for it afterwards. Gold might be soft, but that doesn't mean anything.

Also, ben looks scary with those red eyes. Oddly fitting, though. :P

While we're on the subject, this horror tale gave me sleep deprivation last year, and would easily repeat this if I read it again. Just to get people in the mood.

Oh, btw, I googled around a bit when I was reading Lovecraft two months ago, and found this:

quote:
Supplicate Great Cthulhu only at Hallowmas Eve when the Sun abides within the House of the Scorpion and Orion riseth. When All Hallows falls within the cycle of the new Moon the power shall be the strongest.
Which is hogwash, but nearly manages to sound unnerving, given that this is the case this year. :P

There is nothing saying that one (or all five) of the elderly weren't the next Hitler. :P

Belisarius, there is a reason why firing squads consist of 5-10 executioners, and several of them fire only blanks. No, being able to turn a lever that will result in death does not equate to being able to push someone off a bridge.

OOC: Step 1 after a natural desaster - look for other survivors and group up. We're running in all kinds of different directions right now, and unless we form a party, the roleplay has lost its purpose. We can't each tell our own story.

Btw, Melora is not actually possessed, at least not by Orloki.

Fool! Fool! Fool! Her blood was pumping in her brain from the running, singing in her ears. Where was she going? The rocks were falling behind her. Rumbling thunder was coming from below her, and the sounds of fighting from somewhere she couldn't identify.

She should have split long ago. Should have entered the steel gate in Verwey. Should have left the exorcising to the goodie-goodies.

Running alone for the third time this week. Only this time, she was running away, not following.

What happened in the hall back there? Lisha looked at me and then ran as if she had seen a ghost. Melora's face was a startling sight, to be sure. But they had been travelling together for a long time now; what could have shocked Lisha out of her wits like this?

Right now, she had other problems to worry about. Like the fact that the Guardian was loose.

That is what comes from exploring with morons. She corrected herself. She hadn't been travelling with morons; they had met the morons by chance and nobody's choice.

Subtlety. A vault as ancient as time, and the human treasure-hunters had practically rung the front door bell with their racket. Is that how humans explore? Run ahead, fight what comes out and see if anyone is left alive when the dust settles? It seems wasteful. But then, they do live so very briefly...

Melora slowed down to a steady jog, then a walk. Her blood was still pumping, but she could breathe and think clearly. Trying to concentrate in spite of the adrenaline, she summoned up what she knew of Guardians.

quote:

Sentient, demonic beings allegedly once used to protect treasure vaults. Self-sustaining, insubstantial.

Thought to be able to possess other beings at will, similar to the Mystran, but more obvious physical symptoms.

Can survive indefinitely without attention, but likely grows volatile after long periods of solitude.
Orlokí. Ha. She saw it now.

What creature it had been that King Albert's men had stumbled upon, sleeping in the ice, would remain unfathomed. Some legendary snowman? A cave bear? An ursag, even? Whichever it was, Orlokí had used it as a voice.

---

But where was it now? If it was truly a Guardian, and not some ordinary demon, then the three dimensions meant nothing to it. It could be anywhere and everywhere at once within the mountain. Nobody was safe from its possession.

A lump formed in her stomach.

What had Lisha seen in her face?

Personally, I am not sure if I would want to take my own life if terminally ill. Probably not, as long as I am not in unbearable pain. However, I sure want the right to choose that, and likewise for everyone else.
