What is a tri-tone? Wikipedia doesn't mention it... my only interpretation is three musical notes played at once. Most of my singletons have started out as fighter/priests, but as for traits I almost always give them Divinely Touched and Natural Mage. Even if I don't start out with mage spells. Elite Warrior etc. can be replaced by enough strength and skill points, but casting while encumbered is extremely useful later on. I can't remember exactly, but I last time I went through VoDT, Roses of Reckoning, ASR, then Perfect Forest, then Emerald Mountain, then DwtD (I don't like Za-Khazi), then Bahssikava. After that I haven't really had time to play. The transition from DwtD to Bahssikava was a bit tough, but it's definitely manageable - especially once Phaedra joined. quote:Who reported back then? For some reason, I took "to a man and a woman" to mean that one man and one woman, ie. two explorers survived; everyone else was killed. The details of the expedition (what Thralni did, what killed Karzoth and destroyed his blade, etc.) are pretty well-known for a mission that left no survivors. Edit: The encyclopedia entry on Thralni probably needs an update. I can't be bothered right now, however, so if anyone else wants to do it feel free. For my main party, I started out with a mage/fighter and a fighter/archer/priest. It worked surprisingly well - especially the mage/fighter combo. In BoE, Encumbrance is far more hindering to magic than it is in BoA. Here, Natural Mage is enough to pretty much eliminate this effect. Another thing that BoE players need to "unlearn" when playing BoA is the uselessness of archery. BoA archery, given the right weaponry, is devastating. Summoning, also, has become negligibly less useless (that's "less useless", not "more useful") because of the lack of area spells that summoned monsters always get in the way of. Could well be. I guess it would make little sense to have a separate board for it, since it is for all purposes a part of the trilogy. Here's hoping Jeff puts out Avernum 5, making Avernum the only other trilogy in five parts ever produced. :D -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. Maybe that's why it sounds so wrong. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! Taking the square root of a number is definitely less work for the calculator than trying out all the numbers above it - especially for large numbers. That said, I didn't find a remainder function for TI BASIC (or whatever it is). That makes the process much slower: Calculating the remainder for two large numbers takes a fraction of the time used for division. Maybe I didn't look hard enough? Not being able to calculate remainders is a strange shortcoming... I guess I'd do nothing as well. And I mean nothing. Stay home all day, perhaps read a few good books. Not for eternity, but for a few weeks at least. I need a holiday... -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! That forum software would look a little simplistic even if it weren't for the awful color scheme. Seriously, what is the advantage in reinventing the wheel? If there is something Invision or UBB can't do, I'd recommend getting it and fiddling around with the source. It's far easier to write a hack for an existing forum software than to start from scratch - even considered against the price of the software. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! A pity really. Anyone who can spell "Vahnatai" and "plethora" on the first try ought to be welcome here - there are far too few of them. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! midget...ellipses... are...not...a... replacement...for... punctuation... The oldest game (by concept) I have yet played is likely to be Pacman. It was on a PC, however, and a very new actual implementation of the game. The oldest actual game would be either the first version of Exile 1 (including lousy graphics) or ADOM. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki!
