Funny. That was what I assumed he did, without ever reading his essays. :P

Still, I wonder if you could introduce yourself to some Asimov fan as "Robert Daniel Oliver", and how long it would take for them to figure it out...

Hey, you can be the fan of a robot...

Who didn't think Asimov's R. Daneel Olivaw (Foundation Series) was awesome? :)

Board maintenance. Apparently Stareye was rebuilding the topic search index, which can take several minutes in a relational database... and possibly a lot longer with UBB.

I'm not sure how long it lasted; it ended 10 minutes after I first noticed it; and I hadn't been on the board for the last few hours.

Wow.

*cough*

I mean, it is very honoring you the Diebo-- the people have shown me such trust and support.

I hope I will be able to repay that trust in the future and in turn prove worthy of the decision Stareye made for you. :)

Alas, I have no time for anything longer, because I'm typing this in the few minutes I have before I need to catch the train to work. I'll be back soon.

Unfortunately, stripcreator does not appear to allow for custom images.

So unless Slartucker finds some different place to upload real comics instead of parodies using a database of ready-made cartoon characters, you will have to be happy with what you are shown as.

Trust me, I don't like being a postman anymore than I like being a pink bunny with a hatchet. :P

Edit: That said, color mods are as easy as breathing with photoshop.

Now that came as a bit of a surprise, although I can imagine that moderating this place is not exactly an easy task.

I am glad that his departure from here is without any bitterness, unlike that of so many. I also hope that, like all members of Spiderweb who have ever handed in their sanity, he will return - sooner or later - and grace the forum with his wit and his enormous resourcefulness.

Goodbye.

Mind the Turtle Pit.

Edit:
quote:
Salmon:

Just so you know, it is decidedly un-American to discuss a candidate's past when it could potentially injure a campaign. Actually, this only applies to Democrats, but I had already figured you ran with that crowd.
[Wink]
And I would have shown more regard and subtlety if the quote had been any older. Dredging up ugly pasts is not merely "un-American"; it is generally in bad style and a cheap shot.

However, classifying "two weeks ago" as "a candidate's past" is a bit new to me.

(Also, "I am the only one who can do your mom" did not strike me as a serious platform to run on, so I responded to what I took for a joke with another joke.)

Tyran, you did host it on the public webspace for a time, but that's not what I meant. :P

Also, regarding content restrictions I'm afraid to say I see no significant difference...

Compare:

(the funny thing is that I am in Germany and host my website in Texas, whereas Tyran is in Pennsylvania and hosts his in Australia. Truly, we live in a global age...)

Sorry. It wasn't meant to sound disparaging. It's just that I've learnt by now not to take technical skill for granted.

Thuryl: Would this be the Tharma you meant? If so, then I can almost guarantee that if the fiction was ever posted on Spiderweb, it's not in the archives - nothing by
#352 in there.

Edit:

Before I forget: I've been offering to host several members who were looking for an ad-free webspace for their Spiderweb sites (only Thralni has taken me up on that so far though). If you do set up that web resource and need a host (would be a subdomain of ermarian.net), just ask. :)

That is what he meant, I guess, since that it what it is intended to be. ;)

As for your other suggestion - there has never been a need for a centralized place for Ermarian fiction, since there isn't a whole lot of it. Scenario and graphics archives have sprung up like mushrooms around Spiderweb, but stories aren't very prevalent here.

For easy web publishing without requiring too much technical skill, I suggest http://www.blogger.com .

Wow, my pun-sensor has yet to fire itself up this morning. I know the metaphorical meaning of the "nutshell" of course, but didn't quite realize it was also used literally here.

--

That doesn't change my question though, because now it's "it" in Alo's sentence I'm wondering about. (I thought earlier that Thuryl's "there" was referring to the same "it")

—Alorael, who would prefer to think of it as Spiderweb in a nutshell. It's just like Nephils vs. Sliths (for those who remember it) except in one page instead of dozens.
