Have you noticed that the world view is tilted 45 degrees into an isometric view instead of a completely 2d view? The playing world's map is shaped like a diamond while the automap is shaped like a square. The top right is north, I believe and moving straight left would cause you to move northeast. Lower right is south, I think.

OOC: Can someone tell me what happened to my character and the other plot? Anyway, as I understand this, Jestonia is controlling everything and the vampires are semi-good. The graveyard and shrine are focal points of evil and wanderer maane spirits are being bolstered by necros and killing everything.

IC: Chivon wakes, astonished by what he sees. "Where the heck am I?" He asked into the air. This was not where he fell asleep. He had gone back to the inn to sleep and he had done so. But now he was on the outskirts of town, away from all the zombies. He heard a few come from behind him and he turned around with sword and magic in hand. But the zombies walked past him and continued to the town.
Zane materializes from the decaying matter around Chivon.
"AHHH!! Die Zane!"
"Put that rusty thing down. I want to talk to you. Besides, we can't kill each other at the moment." Chivon looks questioningly at Zane, and then swings his sword at him. The sword failed to connect for some reason. He then said, "I see. I must be an astral projection then."
"Right you are."
"Why have you brought me here?"
"I need your help."
"HA!" Chivon laughs. "Why would I help you?"
"Because I'm actually going to do something selfless this time. I came here to start an undead empire, but then Jestonia came and subjugated my control. I will not stand for this. But I can't kill her like this. There is nothing I can do to stop her unless you help me. If it will make you feel any better I'll be surely destroyed in the process."
"I'm not buying this. I refuse to listen to any more of this. I shall now cover my ears and wait until I really wake up."
"Have it your way. We'll meet again, and I'll have done everything on my part by then. Look at me once more before I change, forever."
Chivon kept his eyes and ears closed and covered. He eventually awoke at the inn. He took his gear and ventured off to find the others which have abandoned him.

PLEASE tell me that the monsters will be able to check the target's stats before attacking. It's so stupid when a fire lizard breathes fire on another fire lizard and then that just keeps going on and on and on. That's also one of the many reasons why summoning isn't helpful.

If you are playing as Celts, than you should go to the abandoned mines west of Nethergate that is occupied by goblins and has a big gate in it. Go down the stairs at the western corner of the fort and search the lower levels. You should eventually meet up with a somewhat tough fomorian. The bronze disk is in his chambers I think.

OOC: ????!!?!??! Why does the universe of Geneforge suddenly come in? And why is the cryobeast now a creation? He was trapped in a stone and his elemental master was the only one he listened to. Anyone, sorry about my previous post's wording. Chivon was referring to himself sarcastically and he is the one who is chasing zane.

Lavius: Look! An artifical sun! It's getting smaller. Come on, let's go there before the wards weaken.
They run towards the sun, hoping that they won't trip or run into hoards of zombies. They were definitely getting stronger by the moment.
Chivon: I think I know what's going on now. Zane is at the root of all this. He is summoning the essence of each of the major undead powers in this area. I swear I heard him mumbling about the "forbidden ones" before he disappeared last time. What else could it mean? Let's see, there are the restless spirits, the burial ground bones, the fresh graveyard...

OOC: I'd really prefer not to interfere with the vampires because I don't want to screw up their personalities and allegiances. Perhaps the creator of Maxim and the vampires could help here.

I'll give a shot at trying to tie together the plot. Let's see, so we have unsettled wanderer spirits, necromancers, a graveyard, and VAMPIRES???

All of them ran away from the house with the powered up zombies running behind them. Chivon, Lavius, and Galen all conjured up their powers to create some magical barriers between them and the zombies. The zombies tried to break through the barriers while they were still forming and succeeded, but ended up being trapped inside them when the rest of the barriers formed.

Lavius: Well, we are safe for now. Let's try putting up some wards for the time being.
Lynn: OK, that's it. What is going on here?
Galen, while putting up a ward: Those specters were definitely incarnations of the untamed spirits of my ancestors. The ancients are strong, even in death.
Chivon: I swear it has to do with the fact that this place is an ancient burial site. The area is definitely heaven for Zane.
Lavius: Zane?? Who's that? Besides, I think the evil is coming from the graveyard and the temple that is next to it.
Eirik: Zane? I've heard of someone like that... I think he was, was, a NECROMANCER!
Lynn: You're right! I also heard of him, and the person who chased him supposedly to the ends of the Earth. I think his name was Chival or something.
Chivon: You mean Chivon. I've been following him because he has been leaving a path of destruction behind him again. I think he may have allied himself with the ancient spirits and the inherent evil of this place is probably making him stronger...

OOC: That's all for now. Maybe someone else can tie in all the other sources of evil and the reason why the vampires are here.

I do wish there were more options to do gameplay wise in Avernum and Exile. Like summoning monsters that would represent your health or area of effect healing spells. There is nothing wrong with spiderweb going 3d although it would definitely be a challenge for Jeff and they should make sure their gameplay is solid before going for eye candy.

OOC: I think I stayed away for a little too long. I suppose it was never at the 'Most recent post area' so I didn't see that there were new posts.

IC: Chivon: I still don't think that this is just a matter of tormented spirits. I mean, the empire keeps pretty good records. And... WHAT THE HECK??

Several incarnations rose from the ground. They were like insubstantial skeleton mist with robes on them. They had no faces and each seemed to be unarmed. Suddenly, one of them dons a face.

Necromancer: You are going down now, Chivon. I guess you couldn't stop me fast enough...
Chivon: You murderous-
Necromancer: Shut up! Kill them!
The face disappeared and the specters slithered forward. The wanderer (OOC: Does he have a name by the way?) cast a powerful dispel on the specters, but they simply flickered in and out of existence when they were hit. Chivon then cautiously slashed one of them up with his sword. It falls apart, but the mist was still animate. The other specters then created weapons with their mist and went forward once again.
Chivon: Run!
Wanderer: Where to?
Chivon: Well, we could either go to that abandoned house surrounded by weak zombie over there, the haunted graveyard, or the inn with the others...

There are a bunch of things you could do. Although I am just speculating on a lot of things so taking my advice is probably the worst thing you could do. You could wait and find out what will happen. If the guy isn't fed up with the airhead, then leave it be. If he does breakup (one word?), then you might have your chance but you must make a pretty clear message to him. I know that not doing anything and hoping the other person will notice you willn't help.

Yes, I said willn't.

I don't think you can remember your dreams after you wake up unless the dream had a really big impact on you. If you wake up during a dream, though, you should be able to remember most of it. Dreaming is a way for your mind to sort out different things and can help it to understand troublesome situations. In a way, nightmares are actually helpful to the recovery process. After you dream about things, your brain tends to forget everything about it except the lasting effect.

If you back out of it while writing a note then it just means that you really don't want to go. Live some more. Maybe something good will happen to you. If you can write a truly profound and heartfelt note, then still want to commit suicide, then go for a very simple solution if you don't want to make it too involved. Falling from a distance is probably the easiest. Quite frankly, I don't know how painful the moment of impact would be. Even if you were only going to experience it for an instant, extreme pain might still cause people to shy away from suicide.

*Keep ROFL*

Anyway, I think Arnold will do just fine in California. He had an interesting campaign, and he really made an effort to try to become politically expierenced. I especially liked his education policies. People think he is an idiot with an ugly but well recgonized face that will destroy California, but he will have help and hopefully the problems will be resolved. I haven't really followed the whole recall thing, but I believe the main cause of it was because the former governor raised the deficit way to high and made some bad decisions.

I think one should be cheery about committing suicide if he is going to do it. Do everything you need to do before dying and then go out with a bang. Give your brain a real workout on its last run trying to think of an amazing way to commit suicide. Remember not to let anyone find out about your plan before it is too late. If I were going to kill myself, I'd make amends to all those that I need to. Then I'd go and piss all my enemies off. I then try to get someone to chase me into a ball park while a game is going on and I'd go to the top of one of the boxes and just do what I described in my earlier post, except I wouldn't be on a cliff.

Chivon runs to help Lavius, with a gleaming red sword out in his hand. He used to be great swordsman, although he is definitely out of his prime. He mutters a few words under his breath and crippling curses fly at the zombies. With this advantage, the soldiers fend off this wave of attacks.
Chivon: "Greetings, Lavius. I have heard of you and I think that we can sanctify this place if we work together."
Lavius: "Sanctify what?"
Chivon: "This town. It is over an ancient burial site. I feel the necromancer's powers getting stronger as he gets more in tune with the powers already present here. At the moment, the zombies he summons are very weak animations of their former selves. Soon, they will truly become abominations of incredibly strength and undying stamina."
Lavius: "If you are telling the truth, then we must waste no time."
The necromancer watches them with interest and once again chuckles. He then continues to meditate and he can feel power coming to him.

And the bones rise once more...

Is it legal to let someone commit suicide if you have the power to stop it? I know you should unless the person really has nothing going for them, but it just doesn't feel right to let someone kill themself. As for me, I think jumping off of a building or attempting a stunt that would be impossible for you would be the best ways. Gun to the head is a simple solution. Forced police suicide is for the people who just can't do it themselves, although it is not guaranteed that a police shot will kill you. Locking yourself in a garage with a running car should kill you, and it should be painless after you fall unconscious. But suffocating is pretty painful. Stand on the edge of a cliff then close your eyes. Just absorb all you can through your senses and wait until you are ready to fall. If you can't, then just wait there until a timely gust carries you off. Fall headfirst into a vertically positioned butcher's knife. Place a bucket full of bricks at the top of something and stand directly beneath it and make it fall somehow. You should be knocked out and if no one helps you, you will die. Of course, death could be instantaneous if you put the bucket or other heavy object high enough. I think a high enough dose of valium and methanol will get you. Get on an airplane and somehow break open the glass. Might as well take others with you. Find a guillotine and, well, use it. Take maximum strength pain killers and a hefty dose of illicit drugs and do something incredibly dangerous and stupid. Cover yourself in carbonated watered down vinegar and jump either onto a third train rail or into a transformer box. Kind of like an electric chair, but it is not guaranteed you will die. Switch with a death row inmate and wait. Get a hand grenade and glue it to your hand, then pull out the pin. Jump in front of a moving train, preferably a bullet train. Find a mine field and run through it. Find some friends who are willing to help you. You could also just wait until you die. I don't have much going for me, but I don't want to commit suicide.

OOC: Yay, my first contribution to a RP.

IC: A small group of medics that had been following Lynn just appear over the hill. They find the victims of the undead and immediately begin to tend to their wounds. The speed and efficiency of their operation astonishes the guards. A male medic dressed in mithril robes walks up to the commander. Embroidered into his cloak was the name Chivon.
"We're here to help keep the soldiers here alive."
"I assume you are from the empire. Why have you come to help? Meaning no insult to the great emperor, but why did you come to help this little town?"
"Simple. The reason why there have been so many repeated undead attacks on this town is because the entire town is resting on an ancient burial site. The necromancer wants to get at it. I think the necro' believes there is something there that will improve his undead raising abilities even more." As Chivon finishes saying this, the commander thinks about what to do. He speaks.
"I assume you also have some holy powers. If you do, go help Lavius on the main front. Perhaps you can try to sanctify this place after the battle is over." Chivon turns to the rest of the medics and tells them to help everyone they can, and he himself runs off to find Lavius.
Necromancer: "Hmm. Chivon has tracked me down once again. He is right, though. Soon I will have the power to summon the Forbidden Ones."

OOC: Sorry if the plot change was too drastic. If you all want, you can disprove this entire post by saying Chivon and Necro are maniacs or something.

I think armor and resistances can have percentages associated with them so you could make the cap equal to 200*(1 - resistance).
