Your problem might be related to the personality parameter, but I doubt it. I'll try to comb through it a little more carefully now.

EDIT: Why do you have an extra break; at the end of the script?

EDIT2: What's with the body; initializer?

EDIT3: You spelled relieved wrong.

EDIT4: Does anyone know why the code doesn't paste correctly?

EDIT5: By the way, you can start with state 1.

Captain America because he has that shield. He is the greater HERO because Batman is very multi-faceted; darkness and using intimidation/blackmail, that kind of thing.

Captain America is strong through actual enhancement, while Batman just trained really, really hard. But Bruce Wayne would win against Captain America because he'd have enough money to, well do stuff.

What KIND of scenerios do you like and what do you expect from them? in Blades of Avernum

Small scenarios can be nice because they are quick and you usually don't get too frustrated.

Large ones every once in a while if you have the time and patience to complete it can be quite satisfying when you complete it, but some are just way too long.

Medium sized scenarios can have an engaging storyline, and can still be finished in a reasonable amount of time. They are my pick.

I like a good mix of interesting combat and fairly challenging logical puzzles that fit into the storyline. Constant hack and slash combat can be boring, so special encounters can always be helpful. Puzzles that make unreasonable assumptions about the player's knowledge, ones that are out of place, or ones without adequate alternatives or clues can ruin the atmosphere and the patience of the player. (Example: Typical Avernum scenario, save town, clueless puzzle in the mayor's bedroom about net worth of baseball cards???)

Most of the time, I find storylines about conflicting inner forces to be more interesting than straight out good vs. evil.

Suggestion for the quest engine in Blades of Avernum

That would be nice. Or even have check marks next to the Quests! Do you imagine having the text change, or just having it turn to grey?

I have the full versions of Exile 3 and Avernum 1. Exile 3 was really fun (and big) and there is some stuff in there that BoE can't do (like the moving walls and exploding ores in the Vahnatai Factory).

BoE has many more scenarios than BoA, but the scenario explosion hasn't occurred yet with BoA.

Avernum 1 has some really annoying control issues with it, and that alone makes me rather have gotten Avernum 2. Avernum 2 also is a little more refined with a few new abilities and spells.

AVernum 3 has the same system as BoA, which I think is way to easy for an experienced player. But it does have lots of special features, and is even larger than Exile 3.

At the moment, Blades of Avernum doesn't have a lot of scenarios to extend your playing pleasure, but you can always make a scenario, too!

It certainly doesn't seem that bloated from the screenshot. I am currently using JEdit (which has the advantage of being cross-platform compatible) and I've used every one of its features except BeanShell on a regular basis.

I just hope that the 'suicide' ending is a story thing, not a litteral one. I can think of a few people that would be annoyed if the reward for beating the scenario is the loss of their party.

The Blades of AVernum Cookbook is a slightly less in depth tutorial for the editor written in a slightly more user friendly way. I'd like to just append examples, clarifications, and references to different sections in the original documentation.

By the way, when he says the calculations are done right to left, he means that the right term is the first one evaluated. So 10-4 isn't 4-10, but rather (-4)+(+10). But I still don't see sense in saying 9-3-3=0 so maybe my interpretation is incorrect.

There was an old bug in which subtraction would be done instead of addition.

Right...

The documentation is lengthy at best, and the editor itself was just made to be functional. After all, Jeff did make a huge game like Avernum 3 with something probably comparable. The thing I have most trouble with in the editor is the navigation around towns and THOSE TINY ICONS!

I believe in a God and all that, but I don't believe in a place that punishes sinners. If we die, perhaps we disappear. Or we just go around in a semi-conscious way, doomed to forever walk among the living and dead in a limbo between nothingness and the solid.

I doubt he's really considering an "Avernum 4," he's probably just going to make a game with an engine based off of the trilogy, except with 'sparkly' enhancements.
