Not miffed, just frustrated, as I know how to get his attention, but cannot act. I'd need my real life authority to handle his problem. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

Oh, now I envy you, I really do, X. I've read everything he put on the market, although I haven't seen his books around for a long while. He triggered a feeling of strange foreboding, and I knew even then that he was right, and that things would move in the directions he pointed. As they did. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

You read Castaneda, Drakey? His books were a revolution when first printed. A mental challenge. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

I like that author too. I think the one you are refering to is the 'Earth Sea Trilogy', TGM. Is John Brunner still being printed? He wrote some fine and rather critical SF in the seventies. Should still make interesting reading. And then how about Lem and the brothers Strugatzki? -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

"Nor will you ever anyplace else. The caves are special. As to the sketches, they are suggestions to improve this inn and enlarge it. Wise Man and RW are safe, so I get the portals." ef concentrated on the old inn, smiled when she located it and vanished. "A permanent portal? That reminds me. Where are the portals Motrax bought back in the old days that we used to send food and messages? Should still be at the inn. I'll go and get them. Don't like to be beholden to powerhungry mages, Alex. Now the sketches, Jiro... Oh!" ef looked alerted and very still, 'listening'. "That silly kid. Fighting haakai on its own." 'E-Master, listen. I'm ef. You will feel better soon.' Healing rays surged through E-Master's body and his strength returned. ef added a shielding spell and decided to have an eye on him, just in case. "Ah you know I've got myself used to greater operations. And knowing us, we'll probably end up being involved in hairrising struggles anyway. So why not have a nice, comfortable hotel. The one and only in all Exile. First class service, first rate drinks, first rate food. Alex, we need a connection with the surface. The food down here will never do. I can't sit still. I feel bored already. Need activity around me." -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

"Hi, Jiro, welcome. What place do you come from? And Alex, look at my sketches, what do you think? If you are interested I would like to invest some money into your inn. Think it over." ef turned to the sturdy fighter who had come in not long ago. "Well, from the look of you, you are no novice. Our group is waiting for one of our members currently, when he comes we'll be off cleaning out a tower of augmented goblins and a mage. Care to join us?" -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

Back in the inn ef sat contemplating the sketches she had made and found them satisfying. Yes, with the game room at the west end of the inn, a lounge in the middle and her library at the east end the whole thing would look like something, wouldn't it. The lounge should have openings in all directions, she thought. Straight on, if Alex agrees, we could have a terrace and a pool. Nodding to herself she carried her sketches over to the Archmage to discuss the scheme with him. Seeing the stranger's coins she shook her head in wonder. "Where did you get those? I've never seen the like of them and I have seen quite a few, believe me." "Wise Man, Namothil, Lone Flame and I are waiting for Fire Drake's return. Once he touches up, we'll be off to settle things in the goblin tower. I heard that the Gods looked kindly and with great sympathy on Alex and decided to present a game room to him as a gift. It's right next door, if you want to try it. The Slith is here, Riibu, Alex and Granthar. Upstairs the Rakshasi are still asleep. That sums us up. Want a drink or something?" -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

OOC: No you are not the only one, E-Master. I had the same difficulty. Zephyr, we are rapidly approaching the point where this topic will have to be locked and you can congratulate yourself on your achievement. Try to be an ordinary guy, please. Felwynne, you are by far too old to respond on such an emotional level. Why don't you join the crew and give us real stories? Sapher, E-Master, thanks for restoring peace by going on your gazer quest. Good luck! IC: "Alex, I feel exhausted. Your inn is a damn kindergarden. Not your fault, I know." ef sighs deeply. "Riibu, dear, if you have a story ready, won't you read a bit to me? That would be fun." OOC: Zephyr, it would probably have been considered a boon, if other people's stories had had a chance to develop too, which they didn't have, as long as every second post was yours. So I think you got what you called for. Moreover you start to pester again. Drakey said to simply tell you when something you do is unacceptable. Both Alec and Imban have been doing so repeatedly. Will you listen? Lone Flame: we are refering to the nice and silly days. IC: "Yes, Granthar, train with her. And if you are wise you forget about revenge for a long time. Concentrate on becoming the fine strong guy you certainly are supposed to be. A few years from now is early enough to reconsider your plans, believe me." "As to the mess in this inn, come on, Riibu girl, we help Granthar and start on a cleaning job. That was quite a performance. Free ale for the warden and the Slith, Alex, it's on me and get me some coffee ready. Oh, and I'd like a library and a lounge. Now everyone: relax. As Sapher seems to have found an easy path to the surface, how about installing a courier service and supply this inn with surface world goods. We might keep a contact with upperworld politics that way as well. Think about it, Alex, will you? And I might build the library myself. Practical thing to have and there doesn't seem to be one in this area." OOC: It's alright, Shaper. That battle of yours can make fascinating stories for weeks and you can come and ask others to join and help you solve some particular problem - things like that. And it's alright, Zephyr. You need not leave. Go on with your quest, but imagine all the things that could be happening, as if this was real life where you get hungry and thirsty and tired in between, or things are not available when you want them or fall down or you trip over something, all those small things that are happening all the time. "I pity that young boy, Granthar, wasn't it. Kind of you to take him in, Alex. Sliths are proud people and a warrior tribe. Maybe we have to find someone to train him to make him acceptable among his folk. Wise Man is training anyway, maybe he'd show him a few tricks. Would you, Wise man?" -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

OOC: RPing lives from interaction, so you need always to know where everybody else is, and what everybody else is doing. Not meant as criticism though. People at the inn have just finished breakfasting, so you killed a million demons between breakfast and lunch, ehem. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

"A young slave boy! Alex, come over with some food. Something light and not too much. He hasn't had a bite in days the way he looks. Water too." Touching him lightly and 'listening', ef smiled. "Nothing wrong with him. Just famished." She turned to the older slith at the bar. "I don't know your name, but whatever happened to the boy, it's a shame. Do you think your people would take him in and make him welcome?" OOC: Lone Flame, don't have the time now, got to work, but I'll PM you a short summary 6-8 hours from now) [ Wednesday, June 18, 2003 03:00: Message edited by: ef ] -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |
