The only DirectX-version that is compatible with WinNT 4.0 is DirectX 3.0a
If you want to use that you'll also have to download the Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6. The DirectX does not function properly without the Service Pack.
Good luck! :)

"Campfires, yes. Someone go and inform the mayor. He'll know what orders to give to fortify this city while there's still time to do that. We all act as buffers and support. Archmage Alex, please use your senses to get as much information as possible. You too, Sullust, if your energy is up to it, but don't put a strain on yourself. I haven't seen Namothil for a while, he should show up, he's needed now. Wise Man will probably be back in time, we'll see.
Mars' death hurts me. The prisoner you brought in, that man Ryan, I'll go and talk with him now."

OOC: I leave the conversation to you, Lone Flame. Should Ryan want to join us, he's welcome.

To prevent confusion: Lethalis is in Valorim at the New Silvar Inn and only in telepathic contact with ef. You, Archmage, are in Aizo with ef and the others.

OOC: You are all in utter darkness. You can see almost nothing, nothing but shades of craggy stones and boulders that hurt you when you bump into them. It is cold. There are unfamiliar sounds around you - of animals you never met, of demons you might come to fear. There is no considerable plant life that you are aware of. What will you idiots eat? Where will you sleep? How will you protect yourself from the unknown? How will you get to know the unknown?

"I don't know what will be most appropriate, Wise Man. The rumours talk of assassination, of Lewis having murdered the regent and at least part of his family. Should that be true, then he is going to the devil anyway. He will probably be sentenced and have to confront the consequences. Find out what's going on, Wise Man and let me know. I will 'listen'. I want to know who is in power now, if anyone is. I want to know about people's reactions. I want to know what's going on on this continent. What games are played here."

"So there's that army that took Sullust approaching us now, let's prepare for it. Also I hear strange rumours from the capital. Some upheaval there. We should find out more. Who is going to investigate?"

OOC: Oh Firedrake, there's a bit of geographical chaos here. Lewis former headquarters and town were on the continent of Valorim. We are now on the continent of Aizo and the last thing we heard about Lewis was Alec's post, where Ilofekh murdered the regent and made it seem Lewis' deed. Meaning of course that Lewis is on the continent of Aizo now, as we are.

"I see. Rubbish. Why do you give him up, priest? He won't die, not this time anyway."

"Sullust, close your eyes and relax. I'm not going to hurt you, but this may take a while."

ef took Sullust's wounded hand and 'listened' into it. Feeling the toxic raging, she focused on heart and liver functions, strengthened both and slightly sped up cell interactions. Then, feeling his will to live, she concentrated on supporting that while she led him through the fever she had produced. It took some hours and she had to energize him in between, but when the fever broke, Sullust was through. ef checked him thoroughly and was content. Though weak and certainly in need of recuperation, Sullust would live and heal.

I'm not so sure either, Alorael. Prefering to be a workaholic to a 'lifetime to kill'? Both seems rather sick to me. One as empty as the other. There is a difference between someone who works long hours, because s/he has feels a genuine attraction to what s/he does, and someone who works long hours to escape an otherwise empty life. Activity as an escape mechanism from the realization that you cannot relate to anything when you are not active?

OOC: A military meeting of members of Kerli and Coronis, maybe others as well. Presumably about how to defend ourselves against imperial attacks.

Well that was not what I had in mind when I started the whole thing. I thought about world leaders that have had a deep and lasting influence on human history and found that those who made the deepest imprints were the spiritual leaders.

"Sullust. Yes, archmage, I know I have to go to Kerli, but Sullust fainted."

ef sent a healing out to Sullust, relieved to find him well guarded. Then continued her rather hasty journey to Kerli.

I agree with you. Though the bible did say it. Wasn't one of the first sentences:
In the beginning there was 'logos' (in the greek version that all later translations refered to).
It probably is not easy to translate,
'logos' = the ultimate or the absolute consciousness.

Leaders in relation to what?
My favourite leaders are Buddha, Christ and the generous spirit that houses us all - nature herself.

TM, I don't know, as I can't listen to you talking. But it's true that we use them a lot without even realizing that we do. The soft versions most of the time. It's, well, expressive.

"There we are. Archmage, you are probably most sensitive when it comes to magical interferences. Tell me what you are aware of while we approach the town. -

Mmh. I get the impression that the invaders are being attacked from the rear. Interesting. Boys, we go join the good cause. And just for fun, we stay invisible. Get ready, everyone and on!"
