Aside from the format - hero/party and turn based etc, the plot/setup/victory etc reminds me a lot of The Settlers series.

I like it.

Antidis-, despite its illogical double negative, at the very least WAS a word as per the history described. Whether or not it can be considered a "real" word now is a moot point; it was a word used then, and is thusly used now in a historical context.

My Dad's parents were WW2 immigrants. His dad was Polish, and was in at least three death camps, escaped 2 and was freed from one.

Immigration aside, I wouldnt be alive.

That being said, 1/4 from Poland, 1/4 southern Germany, and 1/2 standard london commoner, going back about 4 generations (fairly early australian immigrants on my mums side.)

When A4 comes out for windows, I will endeavour to have birthdates for my characters, and ensure I use giveasnack on the appropriate occasions.

It's interesting to hear you talking about building characters with certain skills which are pertinent to the start or mid of the game, but ultimately aren't that great in the end.

When the game seems to be so starved for skill points, requiring choices and sacrifices - wouldn't you want to build specifically for the latter part of the game, which in theory should be the hardest and most important part?

You'll find A4 opens crates/doors etc the same way as Geneforge with 1 difference - NO tools Mimi.

You have no Lockpick requirement like in Avernum, and you cant use 10 Living Tools like in Geneforge to boost your opening ability.

It works solely on the power of your unlock ability and/or spell.

You're right Vlish, except they pretty much make pc133 SDRam compatible with pc100 now, so when you want to make small upgrades on old machines you at least gain a little more - and they can stop making that one extra old type of ram.

From what I've seen, its actually really hard to buy pc100 now, since most companies seem to just make pc133 which is compatible for the motherboards using pc100.

Which relies on the assuption that there'll be the same sale next November, and it'll be the same prices, etc.

Also relies on A4 not being better than A2 and being the new recommendation.

You've assumed a hell of a lot more than I did.

He wants to buy one game now. Referring to a potential sale in 11 months time is about as pointless as (how I interpreted it) "wrongly" referring to last months sale which has now ended.

No need to act like a complete git about it.

Edit: for the record, my opinions fall along with the consensus, A2 >>> A1 > A3.

Last I checked, it was December 13 and the November Sadness sale had officially (and rather logically...) ended.

Mac Beta Test call was Sept 23, this release is almost 2 months after that.

Pc Beta Test hasnt been called yet. You cant really look for a release date when the large-scale testing hasnt even begun.

random WC3 campaign maps and DotA keep me going.

CoD/UO and FEAR are also favourites.

Then, there is the "almighty" MUD; (further oxymorons? :P ) Revelation - http://www.kaldana.com

Other than that, I float a lot through games like
-the HoMM series,
-Icewind Dale I/II,
-D2 (only in times of ultimate boredom, it overdoes the "hack and slash" concept, it really does.),
-AoW series,
-AoE seies,
-C&C series... etc etc

I remember the really oooold Realmz versions. I think at one stage I had a disk with 0.67 or something.

I agree with Thuryl, it was much better (yet oh so buggy) when it was young and simple. City of Bywater, how I loathe thee.

HOWEVER, Alo also raises a good point; should Realmz become freeware, it may be worth it. After A4 has been most strenuously clawed over in every manageable and unmanageable way possible, that is.

edit: learning how to type.
