One must wonder, what happens when one has a question about Geneforge 3. Firstly, they register on the forums. Secondly, they scan through the list of Forums. Finally, they post their Geneforge 3 Question in General Discussion, because it definitely does not belong in the Geneforge 3 Forum. :) -------------------- A Sucaran Child is standing here. For perspective. I graduated from High School in '03, glowing marks, service awards, all that BS. I spent last year doing a Commerce degree, units in IT, Economics, Accounting, and some Maths. It was pretty lame. I learned about 2 things last year, how GDP worked, and how i can use vlookup to create a horse betting database in excel. I took up a job in an Insurance Brokerage this year. I got the job on the merits of my references/personality, not my grades. I've learned more about "commerce" in the last 3 months than i learnt in a year of STUDYING "commerce", there is no comparison. Even for the corporate positions in this industry, or the high-rating international brokers, experience, personality and referencing all come before pieces of paper that say "Bachelor of." Personally, i find Tertiary Education to be somewhat of a necessity for obtaining specialist or executive roles in industry. However, dont ever think they are what will get you the jobs. They simply mean you are (apparently) qualified to do them. The actual getting of jobs, has almost nothing to do with your qualifications. For someone who has finished school, gone to uni, deferred for work (and currently doing a paid traineeship in the industry) i would recommend WORKING after school, not full-time study. Especially with university benefits given to workplaces, i think part-time study is the way to go. My two cents, at any rate. -------------------- A Sucaran Child is standing here. Daze Daze Daze. Especially as a Shaper or Agent. Dazing takes 1 turn (and you can still use a Crystal), and gives you a further 2 or 3 turns to attack. In that time, you can take care of the pesky summoned rogues, and whittle down the Creator. Even in the 2x Spawner sets around the Creator area, you can do it on an Agent with Daze, Firebolt x3, repeat. It might be a bit slower, but you never, ever get hit. Edit: I swear to god Daze is ridiculously overpowered. Nothing ever seems to resist it. [ Sunday, June 05, 2005 21:16: Message edited by: kuc ] -------------------- A Sucaran Child is standing here. High Karma is supposed to be a good thing, but the named-rankings for the SW Forums make it hard to know where to go. I mean, being an "Evil Priest" is pretty cool, Saints are kinda sucky. What if I don't want to stand next to the Pope, what then? -------------------- A Sucaran Child is standing here. You say, "hello" The small child looks at Preserver Aldous wide-eyed and awed. I'm with Taewiel, Commander Keen was awesome. You suck sprung =p Love those crummy apples, crummy daggers, and stupid cheats which allowed you to jump miles into the air in the later games (like CK5) where the levels were almost MADE for the cheats. *sigh* Good times, Lemmings, Commander Keen, Exile 1.2, Realmz 3.6, random-arcade-games. *dozes off* -------------------- A Sucaran Child is standing here. Which then makes one wonder, Why was it released to the website, without Drakey or someone making an Announcement in the thread. The mac-bums got one, and they play on cardboard boxes. I wasnt sure whether free games counted as in infringement of the rules. But while this topic is up... http://www.veraxin.net/revelation its a text-based MUD that runs on its own client. It has a map, so its not entirely text based, although gameplay/viewing runs pretty much like a normal MUD. Starting help at http://www.veraxin.net/revelation/game_help.html /end shameless advert. -------------------- A Sucaran Child is standing here. I have seen that singing/freaky guy before. If i remember right, he was a part of one of those things, where he would do absolutely everything you told him to do on his website, live on webcam. Someone obviously chose to add some images to it and make an "amusing" (?) flash out of it. -------------------- A Sucaran Child is standing here. IMO, Agents are Always gods. As you progress through any Geneforge, its their ability to tackle multiple rogues which increases substantially. If you die in 1v1 combat as an Agent, you just arent playing properly. -------------------- A Sucaran Child is standing here. After various people commented on the sibling excuse not working, JadeWolf "owns up" with the sibling excuse, (as it would look more plausible now, than when confronted?). Being canned doesnt help ones credability either. I'm not good with "innocent until proven guilty" especially on a medium which truth is so easy to falsify. Edit: One must also query whether Alorael or Imban making this a public trial, for lack of a better term, was a good move? Student of Trinity summed it up pretty well. For any power the NPC's who join you possess, it is very very quickly belittled by your lack of control over them. The number of times my shaper died early in the game because Nora or the Abandoned Thahd would basically walk off and find 6 rogues was annoying as all hell. I very quickly gave up on these characters. -------------------- A Sucaran Child is standing here. You say, "hello" The small child looks at Preserver Aldous wide-eyed and awed. I thought this was a "who are you?" topic, not a "look at the size of my brain" topic. I doubt anyone is going to find you interesting because you can recite your precise rank in the intellectual world from memory, in percentile, latin, decimal and indonesian forms. People are much more interested in hobbies, likes/dislikes, what you do in your spare time, stupid things you have done, etc etc... Reminds me of the Arends (it is the Arends right, or was it the Tolnedrans?) from David Eddings books. Only thing you seem to care about is how many people your IQ is higher then. Seriously people, grow up. =/ -------------------- A Sucaran Child is standing here. You say, "hello" The small child looks at Preserver Aldous wide-eyed and awed. I am Matt. I cannot be bothered making a self-inflating how-many-people-am-i-better-than post. I find peoples interests and idiosyncracies far greater than their so called credentials. Some people would call me a general cynic, and i would agree. I am 18, living in Adelaide SA originally from Melbourne. I Graduated from High School in 03, and after doing a year of Commerce, am now working fulltime doing an Insurance Broking cadetship. Not exactly what you'd call mainstream, but then again, not much of me is. I went to a gig in a pub on sunday night and saw two awesome bands, Chalice and The Eternal. I also went to a gig at a theatre a few months back and saw Missy Higgins. I have sung for a great many years in a variety of choirs, and also played the Viola for about 8 years. I enjoy beer. Weihenstephaner, Coopers Sparkling, Loewenbraeu, any a great deal of others. I am posting from work now, so i should go... -------------------- A Sucaran Child is standing here. Electric and Solar hybrid cars are far better, imo. They may still be expensive to build/buy, but they are incredibly efficient to run, with minimal greenhouse emissions and ongoing costs. Beats the crap out of any other kind of Green car, or Future car, or however you choose to categorise it. -------------------- A Sucaran Child is standing here.
