Some of the mentioned sects have no chance whatsoever (think Awakened). In my opinion, its more or less a tie between "new Shapers" and Drakon Rebels. Even though the Unbound make the Drakons most powerful in practice, it's only because the Shapers are extremely reluctant to perform Monarch-style Shaping (as in the Titan). Edit: You should have included Barzites. [ Monday, November 12, 2007 13:53: Message edited by: Taliesin ] -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. quote:See Gilgamesh for details... except that not even the Mesopotamians viewed that as a positive thing. They were totally into prostitution though. Eugenically speaking, that reminds me of the ancient Germanic tribes, whose brutal culture of survival of the fittest resulted in whole nations of 6'5", Hulk-ish warriors. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. Agreed. Alcohol can make these cases unbelievably complicated, as I've seen in the news more than once. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. Have we lost ourselves?" - Switchfoot ---- My poetry Posts: 432 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2007 07:00 |

I suppose you're right. After all, America's law is largely emotion-driven, unlike many cultures (such as the Shapers... :P ) -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. Shaping is too good to discard, but it's also easy to abuse. Therefore, it needs strict regulation by wise, stable people. Loyalism in a nutshell. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. Have we lost ourselves?" - Switchfoot ---- My poetry Posts: 432 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2007 07:00 |

quote:My advice: Only take the law into your own hands as a last resort, but in that case don't be afraid to do it. If that is what's being suggested here. I support Excalibur's position on this issue, although Thuryl and Yama Toman? had good points. However, I think the death penalty is still a good idea for the following reason. Suppose this guy and girl are on a date. The girl is shy and not very outspoken, whereas the guy feels a bit reckless. They find themselves alone, and they get a little physical. She doesn't complain, but really doesn't want it to go any farther. Suddenly, he makes a move she isn't expecting, and they end up having sex. She is too shocked to fight back, but then she runs away crying afterwards. Maybe I'm making too fine a distinction here, but it seems that if he knew that would get him killed, he would think twice before pushing so hard. Yeah, prison sucks, but you can always get parole or whatever, and with a good lawyer who knows? After all, this would be a tricky case to judge. Whereas a death penalty is a death penalty. And to people who think this life is all they have, that is infinitely more scary than any amount of jail time. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. I think Trakovites are all very nice, but... why? Why an association devoted to it? I have to agree with Goldenking on this one. By the way, why are Trakovites called Trakovites? I thought Trajkov was more of a proto-Barzite... -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. I think it's very well done, personally. I don't see any of those as unreasonable requests (although some are more important than others). Regarding the internet firewall, I think the administrators should start with a good filter to automatically block bad sites (it wouldn't be perfect, but it's a step in the right direction), and then keep tabs on what sites the students go to. Then they could raise the security level if students abused the privilege. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. You need the Pure Crystal Shard, too. Read the walkthrough carefully, it's a little confusing. Your other dilemma could be tricky, but if you act like a fanatical Shaper for a while it should resolve quickly. Of course, that depends how rebel-friendly your opinions are at the moment. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. In G1 I ended with 20 points of luck. Since each point is 1% boost to all kinds of things, it really adds up. :D I don't usually do that, though. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. Shapers: A few dangerous races disappear. Cruel, perhaps, but clearly the lesser of two evils. Rebels: Those few races do OK, but everyone and everything else gets ripped apart by crazy Unbound. Conclusion: The Shapers may not be the best government possible, but it should be clear why I favor loyalism. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. They're not making it switch. It's a 2D image, and thus does not have a "direction," furthermore I can change the apparent direction at will. As can many others. It always starts clockwise for me, though. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. Agreed. The different races in Eragon remind me of Warcraft III (Night Elves rock!) in a way, which amuses me. I should build an Eragon campaign - the storyline shouldn't be too hard to capture in an RTS editor... -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. Fall is nice, winter can be awesome or boring, spring is pretty but annoying to people with allergies like me, and summer is fine until the AC breaks. All in all I prefer the cool, dry weather. I love bonfires. :) -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. Have we lost ourselves?" - Switchfoot ---- My poetry Posts: 432 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2007 07:00 |
