Oops. I meant altering people to be immune to diseases. And I doubt that growing back limbs would fall under the category of "legal" Shaping. -------------------- Love is the movement. Posts: 432 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2007 07:00 |

Many people here dislike the linearity of G3, because it limits the decision process that is such a great part of most Spiderweb games. I rather liked the game myself, but powergaming is fun too (my current G1 game is a prime example of this). Edit: I agree that the island jumps get annoying. I like different Geneforges for different reasons... maybe G5 when it comes out. :) I've also played a tiny bit of Avernum 4 - seemed good enough. I would have to play through a little more of it too make a real judgment, though. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. Let's see... Legs of the Tyrant, Vampiric Breastplate, Thirsting Gauntlets, Talisman of Might, and a sword with Ethereal Bindings would end up around 23, if not more. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. I think using Shaping on people should be legal under very specific circumstances, like making people immune to diseases or growing back limbs as mentioned above. Hey, the knowledge exists whether the Shapers like it or not, and it's a shame to waste power that could be used wisely. I do admire the Shapers' self-control in this area, but it's like trying to destroy nuclear weapon technology: If you make them totally illegal under all circumstances, only your enemies will have them. And they will use them, too. Edit: Fixed wording mistake. [ Sunday, October 21, 2007 14:19: Message edited by: Taliesin ] -------------------- Love is the movement. This is the second poll of "What's your favorite game in the Geneforge series" within the last week or so. Since you didn't post the other one, I don't think there's anything wrong with that, but please check recent topics before posting a probable repeat in the future. Thanks! -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. Have we lost ourselves?" - Switchfoot ---- My poetry Posts: 432 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2007 07:00 |

Actually, the Iliad ends with the burial of Hector. You have to read other sources for the rest of the story. Add: I finished my paper on Hector! Finally! *sigh of relief* [ Thursday, October 25, 2007 12:33: Message edited by: Taliesin ] -------------------- Love is the movement. Posts: 432 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2007 07:00 |

I am currently reading Robert Fagles' translation of The Iliad, by Homer. I'm also writing a paper on it, so I must stop Interwebbing and Spiderwebbing for now. *grumbles* -------------------- Love is the movement. Posts: 432 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2007 07:00 |

I suppose so. Drakon politics are interesting and complex, as illustrated in Quessa-Uss. That was a fun level. I loved getting Salassar all ticked off. :P -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. Or you can be like my Trakovite, and combine loyalism, or a pretense of it, with canister madness. No cheating, and almost just as good. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. He sounds like a Necromancer from Diablo II (dagger warfare, mechanical summonables, insidious evil, etc.) Although they are hardly nondescript. The drakons are simply the latest generation of Shaping tyrants, which was what the rebellion was trying to escape from. The main difference is that the drakons have no rules besides "I can tear you limb from limb, therefore you are my slave", whereas the Shapers had an effective, if imperfect, law code. I uphold tradition because there is nothing better to uphold. Of course, a little reformation in the system wouldn't hurt. -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more. We all liked GW back when we elected him (anyway most of us did). But in America, nobody can survive the hatred of the media. The US revolves around "the fusion of entertainment and enlightenment" as Hannity puts it, and which can take various forms, each leaning toward one or the other. I like to call (most of) the American media "the confusion of entertainment and enlightenment." Our culture craves constant entertainment. "Here we are now, entertain us." - Kurt Cobain Come to think of it, the very name "Nirvana" illustrates the confusion of entertainment and enlightenment. Yay. My 100th post. Oh well, whatever, nevermind. :P [ Monday, October 15, 2007 18:03: Message edited by: Taliesin ] -------------------- "We were meant to live for so much more.
