There's no need for pessimism. Try to think of the advances we've made as well. There's something sadly ironic about people complaining on the internet about the cost of progess. Living in the polluted, unstable world of today is still preferable to the days before public sanitation, when 50% of all children died of infectious disease or starvation before the age of 5. Even in the poorest countries in the world today, the situation is at least better than that. I'm not one for making rash predictions, but I predict that within our lifetimes, the standard of living everywhere in the world will be superior to that of modern Western society. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! See the purple rugs at the west end of the room? Push the crates and barrels around so that the barrel is on the southernmost rug and the crates are on the other two. If the portal doesn't take you somewhere interesting when you step in it after arranging them like that, you probably put them in reverse order by mistake; go back and try again. The "windows" on the unlit ones should probably be quite a bit darker; they look like solid stone at the moment. Apart from that, you've done some fine work with this. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

No, not an NPC portrait in talking dialogue, an arbitrary image to go with a message box. And not like in a splash screen, either -- instead of being big and central, it'd be small and up in one corner. Hmm. If you really are Aceron, your writing style's changed a little. On the other hand, if you're not, you're someone who knows a fair bit about Aceron's boards. On balance, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. You'll have to forgive our skepticism; pretending to be you is the new fad now that pretending to be Jeff Vogel is out of style. Well, I for one hold no hard feelings toward you. Nice to see you back here. Oh, and I'm Thuryl/LRTDeM. You can transfer your scenario over from your Mac to your PC and edit it without any problems. All you have to change is the custom graphics. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Unless the docs are in error, the Jump To special is only called if the player chooses not to climb the stairs. I've actually been trying to get the stairway bug to "work" myself and can't. I think he might be on to something about it only working between towns of the same size. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Well, Bandits 2 has some, uh, impressive weapons of all 3 types. Bows? Hmm. Falling Stars has Heartseeker, but in general bows just aren't very good. Robes? Cat Cloaks in Doom Moon are pretty good. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

The special node you want to call is supposed to be at the same location in the new town as the stairway itself was in the old town, not on the spot the stairway takes them to. (Obviously, if you don't want the special to be called at any other time, wall that space off or make it a one-shot.) -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Depends. If you actually make it by editing the BoE Blood Beast graphic (or another graphic), it's an edit. If you make it from scratch, it's an original. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Anglo-Saxon culture's absurd prudishness about nudity also results in general public acceptance of inexcusable human rights violations such as women being ejected from restaurants or fired from work for breastfeeding their children. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! If you have doubts about your party's appropriateness, you can always use Kelandon's High Level Party Maker to make yourself a party of the recommended level for the scenario. In general, only expect a premade party to be supplied when one is necessary for plot purposes; most players get fairly attached to their own parties after a while. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! I had considerable difficulty with the goblins, mainly because I couldn't get a hit rate of better than 5% against the Goblin Assassins. Now that I actually know how to build a party that can hit the broad side of a barn, I might build another one up to level 15 and try again. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Yes, let's not forget that there were other boards before the official SW ones. I may not look it, but I predate pretty much every active community member except Alec. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |
