It'll probably take less time to sober up while resting outside than it did to drink them in the first place. Really, though, I can understand drinking hundreds of bottles of wine to see what happens, but why did you drink hundreds of bottles and then save? :P -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! For characters' names, it's probably fairly safe to use the names of people you know, or names taken from old newspaper articles (the Births, Deaths and Marriages columns are a good place to look). You can even consult a dictionary of first names if you're really stuck. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

They're angles from the x-axis (expressed in Cartesian form, so anticlockwise is positive). So 90 is north, 60 is north by northeast, 45 is northeast, 30 is east by northeast and 0 is east. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! You can't start with more than the first 6 spells in any circle regardless of your skill level. For Celts, I recommend starting having every druid start with 6 in War Circle (for Darts of Ice), and having at least one start with 3 in Spirit Circle (for Spirit Ceremony). Starting all Druids with 1 in Spirit Circle for Repel Spirit is a pretty good idea; wights and shades are pretty common and tough early on. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! We already KNOW about Geneforge 3. We've known for MONTHS about Geneforge 3. What we're talking about is the OTHER new game that Jeff's referred to. Go away, and please take the other 25 people wanting to "inform" us of the same thing with you. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! quote:Read a guide on academic referencing sometime. At the very least, a reference should include the name and author of the original work. The whole point of referencing is to give credit to the author, after all. It's fine now, but for future reference that's probably worth keeping in mind. Plagiarism is a serious issue. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

I haven't heard 400 before, but the Exile series (and probably the Avernum series as well, but I wouldn't know) does suggest that Erika is much older than she looks. She may well be close to 100 by Exile/Avernum 3, if not older. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

You can still go to jail for copyright violation, at least in Australia. The thing about more secure copy-protection systems is that they're generally more inconvenient for the end user, which means customers are lost, which defeats the whole purpose of having them in the first place, which was to sell more copies of the game. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! I was about 5 when I saw the original series of Astroboy so I can't really comment on it (the only episodes I have even a vague memory of are the ones with the flying snow leopard and the exploding girl) except to say that I watched it for quite a while so I must've enjoyed it. Oh, and I can also hum a few bars of the theme song but don't remember the words. I've tried to watch the new version, but the dubbing is just too awful. Maybe if I can find it subtitled I'll give it a look. [ Friday, July 23, 2004 06:30: Message edited by: Thuryl ] -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! With 5 luck, attacks that would otherwise kill you will fail more than half the time; probably close to 70%, I'd guess, and maybe even more. Get 10 luck and the chance starts looking more like 90%. Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |
Collaborative Effort? in Blades of Avernum Editor | |

I've always felt that there were two main obstacles to collaborative efforts in BoE: 1) If one person gives up on the scenario, the whole thing tends to grind to a halt. 2) BoE wasn't modular enough. Towns could be imported between different copies of a scenario, sure, but outdoor sections, items, monsters and terrains couldn't. Now, BoA goes some way toward solving problem 2, since all of those things except outdoor sections are now just scripts and so can easily be transferred from one person's working copy of the scenario to another's. The ease of one person handing most of his work over to the others upon giving up may also help with problem 1, but it still means that each member of the team has to potentially be ready to complete the scenario on their own if the others pull out. And if they're prepared to do that, then what's the point of collaborating? Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

I never spend skill points on health. If dying is a problem for you, spend the skill points you save on HP on Luck instead; you won't regret it. In fact, starting all your characters with 5 points or so of Luck isn't such a bad idea; your party may feel underpowered at first, but it hardly matters when they're virtually invincible. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure!
