All relevant skills - Intelligence, Mage/Priest spells (whichever's relevant), and Magery - increase the damage of affected spells by the same amount. Getting one intelligence increases your damage by the same amount as one Magery or one Mage/Priest Spells skill. This is described in the Blades of Avernum documentation, Spells, Bonus. -------------------- Creator of the 3D Blades of Avernum Editor for Mac. Get it at Ingenious Isaac's Illusion, my web page. I hadn't thought about this before, but is the only advantage of Magery that it costs less skill points than Intelligence if your Intelligence is really high? And it also doesn't increase your spell points. This skill is seeming less useful all the time... -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Each rank increases resistance to Magic and Mental by 5%. Maybe worth one or two ranks. -------------------- * Posts: 6936 | Registered: Tuesday, September 18 2001 07:00 |

There's also the fact that it's necessary to (eventually) get Magical Efficiency and Resistance. Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Intelligence affects damage and such just as much as Mage spells and Priest spells in their own categories. It was definitely that way in A3, so it should be in BoA as well. But intelligence does have some useful purposes. You could get it when the skill you want to train in is way to expensive, or when you need extra spell points, etc. -------------------- Thuryl: I mean, most of us don't go around consuming our own bodily fluids, no matter how delicious they are. ==== Alorael: War and violence would end if we all had each other's babies! ==== Drakefyre: Those are hideous mangos. I thought it would be harder, which is why I asked originally. Did you do lots of the side-quests or just run straight through? Were there any parts that were particularly difficult? -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I basically went through as quickly as I could. I was only level 9 by the time I finished (day 9). Paticularly tough bits? Well, the dark place with all the Deep Crawlers was nasty - I was only level 2 at the time and couldn't come up to rest. And that Dervish in the Opal Citadel. -------------------- Rate my scenarios! I don't think the Creator is really a thing of nature at all. Rather, the LORD transcends nature... [/overdone] [ Friday, July 30, 2004 14:51: Message edited by: Imban ] Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

It's not all that hard. Usually, it's just a case of finding your enemy's weakness and making sure he can't use his strengths against you. The Deep Crawlers WERE hard, though. -------------------- Rate my scenarios! quote:Assuming the manual is correct, you could just read that, since it gives the formulas for each and every spell in the spellcasting section. It's very educational, too: Did you know that lightning spray 3 has a higher minimum damage than fireblast 3 and a max damage that's like 4 points lower? (Or it did in A3, I'm not sure about BoA) -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. Posts: 322 | Registered: Monday, April 12 2004 07:00 |

I didn't see that... Are you referring to the A3 manual? -------------------- You're a moron if you think I'm not. Posts: 213 | Registered: Friday, March 26 2004 08:00 |
