I'm just really, really impressed that they managed to pull out enough collagen in a sufficiently intact state to sequence it. I mean, I know it's a particularly stable protein, but still. Can't do it in the Mac version either, unless there's a conveniently-placed pot or other searchable object available. Of course, due to the changes to the AP system, running away to avoid being attacked is less effective than in previous GF games anyway. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Reputation can only do so much for you. To get into Shaper Camp Gamma without being attacked you need a pass, which you can only get if you got the Repair Moseh quest from Alwan. You don't have to complete the quest (you can kill him instead), but you do have to talk to Alwan after you resolve the Moseh situation one way or the other. I'd really recommend waiting for a golden crystal if you're going to actually be attacking with that claymore; it makes your melee attacks much stronger. (On the other hand, if you're to be using your melee weapon primarily as a melee weapon rather than a stat-booster, the Oozing Sword or Viper's Touch is a better choice anyway.) Life drain gives you so little HP that it's almost useless, and there are enough golden crystals in the game that as long as you only put them on equipment that you plan to use for the rest of the game, you don't really have to worry about "wasting" them. What kind of character fights in melee but has low endurance, anyway? Are you a shock trooper or something? Why did you not let us pick all 5 choices for the first and last questions? And why doesn't the last question have a "none of the above" option? It doesn't exactly help that Jeff apparently really hates making scenario editors. He's complained about the amount of work it involves both of the times he's done it. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

quote:I'd say this happens for the same reason that act utilitarianism is famously difficult to put into practice in general: individuals aren't in a position to assess all the effects of every action they take, so often the best that a society can do is make sure people try their best to do good. Punishing a well-intentioned but harmful act only serves a purpose if whoever did it should have known it was harmful. Conversely, rewarding an act performed from selfish motives that happens to benefit others is generally unnecessary, since the act would presumably be performed even without the extra reward. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Whether they're the same person or not is a moot point. Since Dante admitted to using Blake's account to post things that got Blake banned, it stands to reason that Dante ought to be banned as well for posting them. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! quote:Don't do this. There was a bug in earlier versions of the game where you could get north of Fort Emerald and find a certain quest item before you were supposed to. It broke the continuity of the plot pretty badly, and could result in one town being unvisitable for the rest of the game. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Do more quests for the Castle and eventually you'll get permission to go north of Fort Emerald. You can't sell the trophies; they're special items. You didn't kill enough swamp goblins. Go kill more. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |
