Putting points in Shaping is almost completely unnecessary. You need, at the absolute most, 4 Fire Shaping and 6 Magic Shaping -- you can get bonuses from items to bring you up to 10 from there, and going above 10 is a waste. Better still, either forget about fire shaping and go magic shaping for the whole game, or vice versa.

Ignore magic completely, except for maybe Healing Craft. Rely exclusively on pods and spores. I did a no-magic Shock Trooper once and it was easier than my first attempt at a Lifecrafter.

Pump Intelligence a lot and Endurance a little. Ignore strength and melee weapons for the most part; you get enough points in those without investing skill points. Dexterity and missile weapons are a worthwhile investment, but you can ignore them if you need the skill points elsewhere.

I'm surprised you left out Cryoas. They're as good as Vlish if you keep them alive, and you can get them earlier.

There's no way in.

Even if you could get in, there's nothing in there anyway.

Don't ask how we know there's nothing in there if there's no way in.

If I'm not in the mood for an RPG, I'll usually go for a platformer.

Also, who are you? :P

I seem to recall that Jeff mentioned in one of his articles that the Geneforge series sold reasonably well, but not nearly as well as the Avernum series. That was before G4, though.

Djur would indeed call it an RPG. That's what comes from being a prescriptivist: you don't care how many other people do or don't use your definition.

He's suggesting nothing of the sort, merely ranting about people's inability to spell, and pointing out that it's odd that "Garzahd" is misspelled so much less often than "Barzahl" when they're basically the same damn name.

For the record, Djur and I have had this conversation before; I favour the first (descriptivist) definition and he favours the second (prescriptivist) definition.

Except that strength bonuses to creations from items are worthless because of a bug in the game engine.

I could give more specific advice if I knew what class and build you were, but here goes.

Be sure to find and destroy his restoration pylons before you attack him. He's most vulnerable to magical damage, so wingbolts and gazers are your friends. Watch out for the drakon at the end. Really, it's just a matter of bringing enough essence pods and healing spores to stay alive while you slowly wear him down.

The cheap way to beat him is to surround him with creations so he can't run away to the next part of his complex when he's taken enough damage, but that's no fun.

Killing Annatolia hasn't ruined the game for you, but if you had any unfinished business in Spire it'll just have to stay unfinished.

Get Info (Command-I) on the preferences and uncheck the Locked checkbox. That should solve your problem.

In G1, you can buy unlimited amounts of Luck with cash. Getting to 30 isn't as impractical as you'd think.

Are agents better shapers than, well, shapers!?! in Geneforge Series

It's probably most feasible in Geneforge 4, where Infiltrators (agents) get almost as much essence as Lifecrafters (shapers), and shaping skill doesn't make so much of a difference with higher-tier creations. You'd still have fewer creations than a full-on Lifecrafter, but you could make up for it with your own more powerful magic.

Normally that's the case. Sometimes it's a little buggy, and the item is kept but stripped of its script.

They're both very good. For a melee servile, though, the Gloves of Savagery probably gives you better total value in terms of skill points you'd have to spend to get the same stat bonuses.

Do you have the most recent version of BoA? If not, upgrade. Also, make sure the wands you're using were picked up in your current playthrough of the scenario, and not a previous attempt.
