You can't spell Subterra without UBT, but you can spell it without UBB.

Do keep in mind that that was the third or fourth topic he spammed up with a series of those images after being warned to stop.

An admin opened up the Admin Control Panel, selected the Ban User option and typed in his member number. But that's not what you're asking.

Recent incidents in RWG may have had something to do with it.

If that's all you want, then he's already done it. After all, it's theoretically possible to edit any part of Geneforge 4, even the stuff that isn't in the scripts, right now. It's just that nobody but Jeff knows how to edit it to any useful purpose.

One of the major improvements about BoA scripts (to me) is that I can write out the call I want in a text editor rather than having to navigate and click through about three different menus or dialog windows as in BoE.

In fact, one of my wishes for an improved scenario editor is to somehow do away with the Item and Creature selection menus as well. Going through five lists to find that blasted Goblin or Vahnatai is hell.

Maybe for you, but those of us who don't write code for a living tend to prefer the way BoE's scenario editor works. Having to write out a whole lot of little scripts in a text editor is pretty much the #1 complaint about BoA scenario design.

Question about licence in Blades of Exile

What I think happened is that Jeff copied the licence for the BoA Editor, did a find/replace to change "Exile" to "Avernum", and forgot to remove the paragraph about the game itself not being released under the same licence.

They should use that as their advertising slogan.

You know, if you're going to use a dedicated program for downloading files, it may as well be a proper download manager instead of a web browser.

You are correct about the details, but I don't see how you get "parable" from them. They read like a ship's log.

And this line that you all are drawing between spirituality and reason is artificial. Faith is based on reason. The Bible strongly encourages wisdon and reason It's only incoherent if you don't really know what it's about. Then it seems like a collection of random stories and lessons. The truth is that every book carries a theme central to all of them. Then there are minor themes. Once you know these the picture becomes clear.

(I'm always amazed by the intellectual depth on a forum for video games).

I don't have anything to say about this, I'm just quoting it for posterity in case Stillness has the good sense to edit it out of his post later.

Honestly, the Girdle of Genius is the best belt for a shaper-type as it is. If wearing it meant you could make controllable creations without putting points into their intelligence, that'd just make it even more overpowered.

Seamonkey counts as Mozilla Suite, right? It's essentially the version of Mozilla Suite that's still being developed.

Also, Adium is basically Gaim with a Mac GUI slapped on it, so I'm not sure what to vote for on that one. :P

I do most of my image editing in GraphicConverter; it's not all fancy like Photoshop or GIMP, but it's easy to use and does what I need it to do.

You left out Quicktime Player in question 7, although in practice I try each of QTP, VLC and WMP and use the first one that works for a particular video anyway, since I can't be bothered keeping my codecs up to date for all of them.

And on those rare occasions when I need to compress a file, I use YemuZip.

I never really bother with either. Gloves of Savagery are pretty much superior in every way to Legs of the Tyrant, and by the time you get the second Blood Poison to make LotT you're not far away from being able to get the Blasted Greaves, which obviate all need for other greaves (except the Flameweaver Greaves for shaping).

The scroll itself is accurately named. The real deception is that the Spirit Circle isn't a circle: it's actually an oval.

If that's the one I'm thinking of, I think there are actually one or two other pits in the game where jumping in has the same result.

Dawkins would say that ideas that fail to propagate themselves are still memes, just not very successful memes, in the same way that a lethal gene is still a gene.

I'm, uh, hoping they use a different definition of "meme" than the standard one, because in Dawkins' formulation every idea is a meme, and I don't really want to rid myself of all ideas.

Lone Flame: All mathematics is created by defining it into existence according to a set of axioms (rules). In this regard imaginary numbers are not different from any other kind of number. Mathematics with complex (real and imaginary) numbers just plays by a different set of rules than mathematics with only real numbers. Mathematics is a human construct: if humans aren't allowed to change the rules when it's useful to do so, then who is?

Is not the idea of freeing oneself and others from viral memes itself a viral meme?
