Wikipedia happens to have an article about Spiderweb Software.
Apparently, the company had a tarantula as part of the staff.

Wikipedia has a link for every Spidweb series, but even more fascinating, a biographical article about Jeff Vogel.

I went to the site www.ironycentral.com/ ,I didn't go any further.

The turantula was an, urghhh... office pet? I'm not sure you'd call it an office. Anyways, the turantula was the mascot of the company.

Spider's dead? No! Now who will inspire Jeff's work?

—Alorael, who wants to know what evidence there is for Spider's death. Has Jeff said that she passed away somewhere?

quote:
And here is our loyal companion and mascot, Spider. She died in 2006, but she will always live on in our hearts.
Death confirmed. They can live 30 years or more, so it's likely Jeff had had Spider since childhood.

Is the spider's name "Spider"?

Perhaps we should compose some kind of funeral dirge? Unlike Richard White, Spider won't be alive yesterday as of tomorrow.

I'll take a "stab" at the first verse of the dirge. (I "slay" myself!)

I heard about your death on the radio.
Who knew they read aloud from Wikipedia on the air?
I still remember the time we met.
I always treated you with tender loving care.

And sometimes life is full of surprises.
But mostly its just death and ogre prizes.

The SW Wikipedia articles is updated amazingly fast. A few weeks or so ago, I wanted to edit in the announcement that BoE would be released as open source only to find it was already there. :)

Yes, it seems as though some soul on here is also a member of Wikipedia. Hmm..., maybe it's Wikispidweb.

I read Jeff's Scorched Earth Party joke; I wonder if it had any inspiration from Scorched Earth Policy used by the Russians in the Napoleon wars.

Nope, not me. I'm a wikipedia addict, but I don't really do much updating at all.

When he released the source code, I edited the article to reflect that, but I don't know who usually keeps up with these things.

The fact that the information is on Wikipedia might (might) be a good thing because some people might notice this and might try out the games.

Happy people=more customers=longer live the company

The might is that someone can edit Wikipedia. And it may be done for bad.

Now are you asking that to Andrew Carpenter (the one who is typing), or Infernal Flamming Muffin?
Since I assume you mean Iffy over here...he said it was a year after Rentar was destroyed.

If you are asking me...never.

Edit -Iffy was about 18 years old at the time.
Now he is god knows how old.
