Nope, I didn't know what he was talking about at first. I had never heard of "Pomp and Circumstance" before. It's rather interesting you made a poll about it, however.

Amadis

Howard Shears sat wistfully as he composed a letter. He had become rogue, his ambitions centering entirely around himself. He pressed the final strokes of his signature thoughtfully and held the parchment to the light...

Benedict, of Blackcrag Pass, you have my salutations.

It has dawned on me I shall be a consort of thieves no more. I need a remedy for my thoughts, and I have decided the town of Dorngas will perform that task dutifully. I have received news of Amadis being too foolish to evade Lorelei's guards, in addition to attempting to have friendly relations with southerners. Join me Benedict, for I will be subordinate to Amadis no more. His name shall live in my empire, my realm, but his den of thieves shall be of the past.

Howard Shears

Howard stepped dutifully out of the room. His would-be subjects stood below the ledge, and from there they marched past the gates, past the mountains and over the bridge, and eight days later their destination lay in sight.

Dorngas was frail, it's defenses weakened by destruction several generations ago. Now, eighty years later, a group of men dressed in standard garb walked haphazardly in its direction. Many of them were pulling carts, others donned tattered leather. They seemed like a very large caravan and nothing less.

The guards watched stoically as they entered. Several children bustled about the town square, only to be driven out by Howard's rebellion.

Howard stepped up to the base of a lone statue in the town square. He spoke with deliberation, "Surrender to me Dorngas, or we shall slay you."

The guards took immediate notice and withdrew their weapons. A battle ensued, one in vain and tyranny. The guards were slain, as well as ten of the thieves, but Howard seemed undeterred. He had no remorse, only satisfaction in his new realm.

Lorelei

Amadis laid his head between his knees. Word had been sent from Benedict, and townspeople had it that Dorngas had been captured by strange men. Luscinda, meanwhile, was only capable of staring into a distant galaxy. They had no time to think of the crux, though, for Ferrrald entered at that moment.

Ferrrald and Amarfrra entered the shop together, though the latter expressed a stoic countenance. The next half hour involved detailed conversation, but eventually the following occurred.

"We wish Skribbane," Amarfrra said, "I also wish a reply, for I am tired of listening to you."

"Very well," Amadis said. He retreated to his quarters behind the shop, and emerged with fresh parchment ten minutes later.

To Iocabe, leader of the Sancuary of Telkavoth; addressed by Amadis, the Ingenuity of the Thieves Guild:

The Isle of Bigail has yielded a surplus of Skribbane in past years. In that regard, I shall sell the herb to you at extremely cheap prices, for it is against our honor to offer free gifts.

Amarfrra, for that is his name, has also sent word of a suggested alliance. I have offered to do so previously, though penned as a common man named Derek. I will make sure to aid your arrival to the best of my mortal ability, for the King of Midori wishes my head. However, I wish to seize Softport undisturbed, for I feel it would greatly enhance our commerce.

One of my consorts has betrayed me, for his mind has become rogue. He has committed a foolish crime, which I have unraveled to the Nephil you have sent. I shall restore my control, and he shall be no longer. Thus, I shall accept your hand of alliance, but be warned, I will not tolerate those who spurn me.

Alas, I have business to attend to and shall write no further.

Amarfrra accepted the letter, leaving the remaining to their undoing.

Why can't they simply place one of those "type in the numbers in the picture" security measures in the registration page? As for me, I haven't noticed any unusual amount of server errors recently.

It's nice to know they still dump everything in southern Nevada. I also thought it was interesting that Tonopah has an airbase. Concerning the planes though, I always dislike weapons being retired, because then they introduce more destructive ones.

The factions in the game present some definitive points in reference to the storyline. Though it's completely fictional, some will defend one faction in the same way some defend presidential candidates.

Shamgar rowed steadily, squinting furiously at the brilliance of the sun as it descended upon the horizon. Sickly fish flocked beneath the vessel, tinted green by the afflicted water. Silence cast its hand over the scene, an eerie effect in the least.

Shamgar hastened his pace, unnerved by the flocks of fish following him. The sun began to radiate anger and power, the water rippled inconsistently at its violence. Fish beneath him swam spasmodically, the reeds swayed dangerously. Shamgar became panicked, a malevolent chant echoed in his ear.

The fishing vessel careened and bucked Shamgar furiously. He slammed into the lake, at the same moment the sun vanished beneath the horizon. The boat plummeted straight down to non-existence while Shamgar flailed his arms frantically. A dark wave heaved him up and hurled him to shore and he blacked out.

---

Several birds pecked at Shamgar's face. He stood quickly, realizing he had no idea of his location. He was several hundred handbreadths from shore, yet a cliff towered over him. The day was young, so he hiked towards the cliff, void of any supplies whatsoever. He was frightened by what happened the previous not, for surely something like that could not occur naturally.

After several hours he caught sight of a village. He ran the rest of the distance where some locals greeted him. They informed him of where he was, Emerald Cliff.

Hmm...that's entirely odd. It must be the version of BoA I'm using, because I don't think any of the stuff in the datascript could be affecting it.

The differences in prices are minimal, but gaining additional cash is possible if you know where to dump your load.

The outline of the plot provided is similar to any stone age novel I've read, especially one called Song of the Axe. I'm wondering how much of this movie is original, as a result.

I honestly don't think Arabs or Asians are any more barbaric than Caucasians. Actually, Caucasians are more barbaric at a social level, but I think it's a bit silly though, to refer to a group of people by race. In fact, humans in general are barbaric. Most people don't care for human life on a large scale, and many ambitions are driven by greed and ego. We're violent, and we're figuratively ugly.

Edit: Heh, UBB hasn't recognized daylight savings time yet.

I placed the boots on all varieties of places, even having it dropped by a hostile monster, but they still aren't cursed. I removed the "it_magic = 0" with no success.

The other item seems to work now. I haven't figured out why the boots aren't working, but thanks regardless.

I've been testing everything as I place it by actually playing the incomplete scenario. I placed these two items, but their abilities aren't taking effect. Item 457 isn't cursed when I equip it, it doesn't affect my stats either. Same thing with item 458; no increased health points, and no luck penalty.

begindefineitem 457;
import = 113; //Cursed Boots
it_name = "Bloodstained Boots";
it_full_name = "Stifling Boots";
it_bonus = 5; //Absorbs 5 extra hit points of damage
it_encumbrance = 1;
it_icon_adjust = 145; //Tint red, darken, and swap red and blue
it_magic = 0;
it_cursed = 1;
it_ability_1 = 64; //Affects all statistics
it_ability_str_1 = -1; //Decreases every statistic by one
it_ability_2 = 10; //Affects defense
it_ability_str_2 = -2; //Decreases defense by two
it_value = 50;

//Don't ask about the name :/
begindefineitem 458;
import = 31; //Iron Studded Armor
it_name = "Red Studded Armor";
it_full_name = "Ephod of Libel";
it_bonus = 7;
it_icon_adjust = 144; //Tint red and darken
it_ability_1 = 4; //Affects Endurance
it_ability_str_1 = 3; //+3 to endurance
it_ability_2 = 19; //Affects luck
it_ability_str_2 = -2; //Decreased luck by two
it_magic = 1;
it_value = 850;
If it helps any, I'm using Mac OS 9.2.2 and running Blades of Avernum version 1.1 with the standard editor.

Superb and captivating. The only games I've played that compare are EV Nova and Alpha Centauri. The characters actually act like humans, and the combat system is superior to any other turn-based RPG. The interplay of personality and environment in the game are amazing, let alone the abundance of adventure available at one's disposal. Not only is there an abundance of adventure, but a wide range of different items, creatures, and various miscellanea. The plot is excellent and engrossing, and the writing itself is novel-like. Overall, there's no role playing game I've seen that's anywhere near as great as Avernum 5.

We were in fact discussing Magical Mystery Tour, which would suggest his wording as a typo. Neither is "magical history tour" a well known fact as it holds neither an article on Wikipedia, or any Beatles-related links excluding some various things in Liverpool.
