Yes, it's nice that they blow themselves up in a nice neat chain like that, especially because you can (potentially) get a lot of experience for very little effort.

As for getting hurt or killed a lot setting off the explosion chains, you just need to excercise a bit more caution, and you'll usually be fine.

First, you won't find him because he's a she.

Second, the mayor should be in her office (just north of the job dispatcher). If the town is starting to disintegrate, she may be elsewhere in Shayder.

I forgot about exploding roamers. And you're right, they're best killed from a distance, unless you like to take unnecessary damage.

Here's another (admittedly slightly dangerous) trick: Make them explode in a chain reaction. Get some of them to bunch together, move out of explosive range, and shoot. Every exploding roamer in the blast radius will also explode, which in turn cause any others within range of those explosions to blow up as well. Using this method, I've been known to kill as many as 10 to 15 with a single shot. The only downside of this is that you can get surrounded.

I think that's the solution I came up with, or it's at least a similar one. If there's no objections, I'll post the hard mode solution when I find it.

Leave the area, make some creations, come back, and kill the roamers. Since I normally play as a Shaper, this works best for me, especially when I have to do a lot of melee.

Simple. It's the percent chance you have of hitting something--or vice versa, depending on who's doing the hitting. So if your Battle Alpha punches a Glaahk and misses, you'd get a message like "Missed (80%)." Therefore your creation's chance of hitting the Glaahk would be 80%.

The walkthrough, wherever you got it from, is wrong. You can't fake your way into the Troglo Castle.

You need to get permission from the mayor of Sharimik to take a scroll to the castle. In order to get this permission, you must first 1) give the jobs dispatcher a bribe, and 2) destroy an evil altar in a troglo temple west of Sharimik.

No matter my character class, I find mechanics to be quite useful, especially against those mines you mentioned; a level or two of Unlock wouldn't hurt either, to help with doors and such.

As for health, it's always a good idea to have a little more than you think you'll need, for surviving both melee and mines. I also recommend you get the Augmentation and Essence Shield/Armor spells, which will definitely help you live longer.

Unfortunately, I've never heard of the cake cheat, so I can't help you there.

That's why I get the games on CD when I buy them. It makes things so much easier when I have to re-register. Plus, I always keep a spare copy of the DAT file containing my registration info, just in case.

Agreed. I've been able to reload any game during a fight, be it an Exile, Avernum, or Geneforge game, or even Nethergate.

Ctrl-O is the correct shortcut for loading a game the PC, so it should work; if not, try hitting Esc and clicking "Load Saved Game."

Remember, it took several powerful mages to put that curse on her in the first place, so she might have needed some equally powerful mages to remove it (maybe she couldn't do anything herself?). Even in A3, there were more stronger spellcasters above the surface than below, so maybe she didn't have the necessary resources.

What about the Vahnatai? (I just know someone's going to ask me this.) Maybe they were either too preoccupied or indifferent to be much help.

I've never given this a second thought. Or a first one, for that matter. As long as a character's weird-looking skin doesn't cause my comupter to crash, it really doesn't make much difference to me.

It's in the Prime levelset, more or less in the middle of either the fourth or fifth row, towards the left-hand side.

By the way, I just found the solution a couple hours ago, through pure unadulterated guesswork. :D :D :D

Good point about the monsters, though. Personally, I don't bother to go much farther than Lorelei until I'm at least at medium level, or have some way of teleporting back to Fort Emergence.

I find A3 fairly easy simply because I've done nearly everything already in E3.

(warning: off topic) A3 isn't bad, but if you want a truly easy RPG, play "Adventure" for the Atari 2600 (remember those?). Beaten it in 5-10 minutes.

For those of you who don't know (obviously quite a few), "Eye Queue" is part of the "SubTerra Prime" levelset. And yes, the name is actually a pun on "IQ." Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I feel better.

Actually, she dies if the light of day touches her skin. In one of the games, she mentions teleporting books (among other things) from the surface. Unless she teleports things blindly, this can't be done without scrying first, which would've caused her to see the light of day; therefore, if merely seeing the light of day were fatal to her, then scrying the surface would've killed her.

In theory, she probably could've done it, but only on moonless nights, because moonlight is nothing more than reflected sunlight.

No, the opposite is true. Rentar was losing the duel with Erika--quite badly, as I recall--and only won because she caught Erika by surprise. Otherwise, Erika would've decimated her.

Nice bit of trivia, in case I decide to take it slow. Even as a newbie, I was usually done with that mission by around day 40, the latest.

Same here. By day 76 (at least in E3), I'm usually done with Kriszan, Shayder, Sharimik, Lorelei, and several side quests, and am preparing to tackle Gale and Blackcrag Fortress.
