It should help.

Synergy is male.

There is plenty of advice on character building. Also Synergy has a long discussion at the link near the bottom of here. This has links to most of what you will need.

You should have combined mage skills with tool use since this will allow you to unlock higher difficulty doors.

Priest spells tend to be more useful at higher levels except for the mage's strong daze spell.

That's my understanding and that certain items will reduce fatigue so you don't have to wait as long before using a battle discipline. No hoarding fatigue or removing it with potions.

Battle Discipline Speculation in Avernum 4

I'd hate to find out that the best battle disciplines are like lethal blow was in A4, where you have to plan from the start to reach a skill by the end of the game. I can just see that a mage uses adrenaline rush to deliver a massive attack of icy rain since he couldn't put any skill points into spellcasting in order to have them for combat skills.

Still if it balances out you could create an Empire Dervish that actually could handle anything by himself instead of those wimpy ones in E3/A3. A really deadly Empire Archer or Empire Wizard that can fight as well as spellcast.

Battle Discipline Speculation in Avernum 4

Jeff is starting to give out more information on battle disciplines. In RPG Watch he mentions this:

RPGWatch: The Battle Disciplines sound like an interesting addition...what can you reveal about them? What exactly are they and can you describe one as an example?

Jeff Vogel: It’s a fairly simple system. You get battle disciplines by training up your combat skills. You can use them in addition to your regular actions. When you use a discipline, you are “fatigued” for a certain number of turns, which means that you can’t use another discipline until it wears off. Some buff you, some damage or weaken foes, and so on. Some of them are very good even for spell casters, like Adrenaline Rush, which gives you a huge one turn burst of action points. I think they will be good enough to tempt the noncombat characters to invest in melee weapons skills.

On fatigue:

About fatigue. This is where that is at now. Fatigue is the limiter of battle disciplines. Each discipline makes you fatigued for a certain number of turns. As long as you're fatigued, you can't use a discipline.

Some items and skills will reduce fatigue. Some enemies and special encounters may muck about with your fatigue in amusing ways.

Enemy warriors have battle disciplines and fatigue too. Watch out for damage spikes!

It's a new system. All of this is subject to change.

For archers and spell casters:

One thing about battle disciplines is that not only do they help archers, but some of them can also be highly beneficial to spell casters. I'm not saying that they'll be worth pumping the points into weapons skills to get them, but, if your caster did have them, it'd be hawt.

Regarding action points:

It's basically the same action point system as the older games, except that it has to be rescaled because the size of the world is different. You get a base 8 action points per turn. You can attack if you have any points left. Attacking takes away 9 action points. So if haste and speed items give you 10 or more AP, you can attack twice in a turn.

I suppose we find out the hard way whether the cost of training in combat skills will be worth it for spellcasters to get the best battle disciplines.

Windows versions are compressed as zip files and Mac versions are usually sit files for the extension at the end of the file name.

Adrenaline Rush *cool* depending upon the number of extra action points over normal haste, this could be the return to divine warrior on haste but for only a few rounds. Using it at the start of a major fight could finish it before they get to do serious damage as a spell caster.

Jeff is slowly leaking out info on the battle disciplines. It sounds like we are going to have to figure out the prequisite costs in skills to get the best ones.

You have to use the dialog option where they are asked to accompany you. Alwan won't come until you also have talked to the servant mind in Greenwood Academy.

If you had seen all the spam I was getting before they upgraded the spam blocker, you would understand. Considering that I hadn't given that address out until this week, I was getting over 100 pieces a month in pure spam for over a year. Now it's down to under 10 a month. Now if only Yahoo would upgrade there spam blocker.

I put you on the allowed list so the attachment should go through.

Wikipedia reference page to the Golden Rule

There are several texts that predate Jesus on the Golden Rule. Besides morality is about actually following what you preach.

That's why Republican family values is a joke. During the period up to the Clinton impeachment, Newt Gingrich told his mistress to give him oral sex so,"I can swear that I never slept with you." This is when he was cheating on his second wife, who was his mistress when he cheated on his first wife.

You have to use a cheat code to avoid using the first Geneforge otherwise no one will deal with you until you use it.

There are cut scenes in some of the games.

Exile 3 has a long one for the ending, Geneforge 4 has one for using the Geneforge in the beginning part of the game. BoA has some in different scenarios if you play the right ones.

See here to apply if you want to be a Windows beta tester for Nethergate: Resurrection. Jeff wants XP users, but prefers Vista.

This offer won't last long.

Looks like another month to release.

Oh, Jeff takes a few days to reply to applications and a few more after you send in the non-disclosure agreement. So hearing nothing doesn't mean that you were rejected.

It depends upon the level of life compared to man. Microorganisms while being a likely proof of independent evolution aren't as damaging to some religious faiths as aliens with equal or greater intelligence to man. Just think about the holy wars that could occur when we find a non-human religous group pushing their religion on us.

Use the EDIT icon to add information rather than post a second time when you forget something.

Level 32 on normal means you should try some of the lower party level scenarios before the harder ones.

You don't need more than tool use 16 for the entire game and that's only in the last fortress and for one control panel. Tool use of 12 and using the tinker's bauble and gloves should see you through this area and most of the game.

Try again later if your tool use isn't high enough.

Do the Golem generator panel first since that way you don't have to fight so many of them. Control panel A and B unlock different doors. One (the southeast corner) leads to demonslayer and the other leads to an eyebeast.

Return to the pit? in The Exile Trilogy

Exile 1 gives the back story of the people coming to the Pit and fighting Grah-Hoth. I would recommend Avernum 1 over Exile 1 because it adds Bahssikava and the story of the sliths.

Exile 1 game engine can be tedious with few item slots and the automap is harder to use.
