Shades. Mechanical or living spawners. Anything too powerful or intelligent and therefore likely to go rogue. Giving creations meant for war the ability to reproduce (supposedly). Modifying humans (except to heal them). Necromancy. Consorting with demons. Releasing experimental creation types before they have been tested safe (in theory). Sharing Shaping secrets.

I'm not saying that they are undiagnosed. I'm saying that a genius is more likely to have news articles and biographies about them than your average person. That means everyone knows about Van Gogh's insanity while the only people who know about Joe Shmoe's insanity are the people who know him directly. Therefore, everyone knows plenty of mad geniuses but only one or two mad average people. That makes the connection between genius and insanity seem stronger than it really is.

Dikiyoba does believe there is some correlation between genius and insanity. Dikiyoba just isn't convinced that it is as strong as it is often made out to be.

The Shapers control all the creations patrolling the city from the Keep. It wouldn't be hard at all for them to make the creations hostile should you attack.

As an alternate idea, perhaps there is no correlation between geniuses and madness. Perhaps there are just a lot more people out there with mental health problems than commonly realized and we are just more likely to know about the problems of geniuses than we are of average people because geniuses get so much more exposure than average people.

Well, I suppose if you're serious about updating this list, 48, 97 and 103 no longer apply. 83 and 93 are duplicates. 60 needs an update.

There are three areas in the demo that don't show up on the main map (Upper Southforge, Rivergate Keep, and the Dumping Grounds). Did you forget to count those, perhaps?

Yves is pretty tricky (well, maybe not so much tricky as annoying) until you get his pattern down. I like to make any creations inactive well away from any place he goes (since I think that will cause him to become suspicious and turn back as well), wait just east of his building until I see him, and then follow him while staying out of his sight and saving occasionally.

If you are consistently having trouble, turn the difficulty down. Also, some areas aren't meant to be completely cleared until later in the game (like the Cairn Gates or the mad drayk near the bridge guarded by battle alphas).

Dikiyoba.

Edit: Typo.

Huh. It's probably because I started with G1, but I don't think it has bad graphics at all. It has fewer graphics, for sure, but they aren't bad.

In fact, Dikiyoba likes the original thahd graphic much better than the newer one.

Arrrgh. Could we not have the exact same conversation going in two different threads? It gets confusing. My post on editors here.

Um, no. The question line is one of your options you see when you are talking to someone (for example, "Can I sell stuff here?" or "I've completed this quest for you.") I'm guessing "special" means that it's a dialog box that comes up when you aren't talking to anyone (like when you are reading a sign), but I haven't checked it for sure.

Micawber has a script-based G4 editor hosted on his site that you can look at, or you can look at the ones for the earlier Geneforges (look for them in the forum header). Anything more complicated than that and you are on your own.

Educational Segregation in General
Councilor

quote:
quote:
quote:
Zeviz: The solution that top education systems in the world have come up with is to have curriculum designed by professionals. You can't staff each classroom with a brilliant educator capable of making good lesson plans and fair tests that don't have to be graded on a curve, but you can find enough of them for a curriculum development commission. This is the approach taken by Russia and, I think, other countries with top school systems.
Salmon: This is the system that Oregon is leaning toward, with centrally developed curricula and testing schema. It sucks. It ignores that different students have different needs, and punishes students, teachers, and districts when they veer from the pre-set goals of the "head in the clouds" curricula developers.
Zeviz: In reality, there are very few teachers who can do better than the pre-designed curriculum. (And if that is the case, they should be helping design a better one.) However, if these teachers can prove that their curriculum works better, they should be allowed to use it.
I think the key point in Salmon's argument is "testing". A centrally designed curriculum may work better than an individualized one if the goal is to get as many students to learn as much as possible; I don't know. However, it does not work if the goal is to get students to pass tests. If a unit don't show up on the test, it's out of the curriculum, regardless of how important they may be in real life, or how fun it is for students, or how good a teacher is at teaching it. That's not going to result in a good education.
