Soul Music and Monstrous Regiment by Terry Prachett. Soul Music was good, like the other few Discworld books I've read, but Monstrous Regiment was quite the disappointment because the plot twists... weren't. You can't be right next to the nephilim either way, since the attack doesn't trigger until you're heading towards the main exit of the fort. Resetting hostile towns will revive everyone in Fort Ganrick, but it also has the side effect of resurrecting everyone in the dungeons too, so be prepared for that if you choose to use it. Looking through all the graphics (in Data file for Windows, no idea for Mac) to identify and seperate the objects/items (obvious since each item has two graphics--one for when it is on the ground and the other when it is in your inventory) from the terrain and other non-pickupables might help. And hopefully after a bit more exploring, you'll recognize which things are items and which aren't. Yes. It's not worth it. If they aren't designed to be wiped out, there aren't many (or even any) experience-giving enemies and no valuable items drop. Originally by salmercker: quote:I've never had any real problems with locks and traps. A base mechanics of about 12 should be able to unlock or disarm everything, since there are several items that raise the mechanics skill. Doors that require many living tools or can't be picked at all probably require a key. You might encounter a shortage of living tools, but buying them from merchants and not using them on doors that have keys will help a lot. The traps and doors in the fens are insanely difficult, but that's what the servile mechanics are for. Each one that you have with you gives you a +5 boost to your mechanics skill. Dikiyoba. -------------------- Episode 4: Spiderweb Reloaded Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

The Lifecrafter is a Shaper. The Infiltrator is an Agent. The Warrior is a Guardian. If you're looking for a style you're already familiar with, pick one of those. (Although since parry isn't broken in G4 like it is in G2, the Warrior isn't a very strong character.) The Servile is essentially a cross between an Agent and Guardian. (There are a few places dialogue will be different, but playing as a servile doesn't effect the game in any meaningful way.) The Shock Trooper is a Shaper with less magic and more skill in hitting things. (My personal favorite, but not generally a highly recommended class.) Dikiyoba suggests an Infiltrator or a Lifecrafter for your first playthough. Edit: Typo. Originally by Lazarus: quote:Alternately, if it wasn't the last fish in the tank, it might have been nibbled on by another fish. On a related note, my family once lost a batch of fish in a similar manner. We pulled one fish out of the tank and into a seperate bucket because it was acting so oddly we thought it might have been partly responsible for the one-by-one deaths of the other fish. That separated fish was the only one to survive. (In hindsight, it was probably some sort of disease, although I think we tried cleaning the tank.) Dikiyoba's only real experience with fish are those little 25-cents-apiece feeder goldfish (probably not what you're looking for) and a catfish. The catfish was pretty cool, in the sense that it lived a long time and grew to a rather large size. -------------------- Episode 4: Spiderweb Reloaded Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Originally by Goldenking: quote:Despite how numerous canisters are in every game so far, canisters are supposedly difficult to make. Puresteel is rare (I think), can only be crafted by a few well-trained individuals, and is also necessary for non-canister purposes like enchanted arms and armor. So, practically speaking, it would be impossible to give everyone enough canisters to drive them mad, and ordinary townspeople and farmers wouldn't be able to afford that many canisters even if it were possible. Now, a few working geneforges would be an entirely different matter... Dikiyoba now wonders what happens to all the puresteel (and crystal) used in canisters. Does it get all destroyed in the process of creating them? Or will we soon see some entrepreneurs start recycling used canisters? -------------------- Episode 4: Spiderweb Reloaded Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Glasses, no contacts. Uncorrected, my vision is a bit worse than 20/200. Thank goodness for fancy, ultra-thin, and quite expensive lenses. (Also, I agree with Nalyd. Pretty small and sporadic (but on the plus side, they'll be a message about you draining some life energy whenever it occurs). Not an effect you can rely on unless you really concentrate on using VT-boosting items. You have to set the forum view to show all topics. By default, it only shows topics that were posted in the last five days. The option to show everything is in a pull-down menu in the top right corner, just below the button to start a new topic or poll, on the main forum page. Also note that the topics will be displayed on several pages (the option to switch to a different page should be not too far below the menu to change your forum view). Dikiyoba admits these are probably vague directions but hopefully they'll clear things up. Edit: Beaten to it. Also, typos.
