Basics of what? Do you mean the basics of surviving here in this forum?

Well, there is the official Code of Conduct and then there is the Code of Community which I am looking up in the archive now... This will only take a minute I'm sure.

What the? What's with this 'I won't be buggered to search for a term with less then four letters' bit? How am I supposed to search for CoC? Ok, fine... I think I remeber a unique phrase I wrote in that thread...

*In Spongebob narator's voice* One hour later.

No I'm kidding. But why do the posts only allow up to 30 characters per line? Hard to read. Fixable, Aran?

Anyway, here it is.

That is certainly no longer applicable, if it ever was. TM has been, shall we say, dis-membered. :P

Sadness that rule #10 is no longer in effect.

Happiness that rule #9 still applies.

Most of it's still applicable. It's just that TM violated rule #33. Thus 'twas was his peril. It should probably be higher on the list.

"#68 You now belong to this Board. If you try to escape, you will return. Always (exception: Synergy)."

I can see this list is a bit outdated. Does my six month absence represent the longest successful planned escape?

See, my problem is not so much the irresistibility of the fine folk at this board, as the fact that this Jeff guy keeps making these cool games I want to play. It's his fault really. Feel free to email your complaints to him.

Well, I suppose if you're serious about updating this list, 48, 97 and 103 no longer apply. 83 and 93 are duplicates. 60 needs an update.

The first rule of Spiderweb is that rules will not serve you. Accept Richard White as your savior and be doomed anyway.

—Alorael, who doesn't think noobs can learn the basics any way but participating. Politeness and basic orthography will get you a long way.

By no means was your absence the longest, and there are many other absences to which the rule has not yet rung true, (See all the one post wonders?) but you were obviously missed.

Of course it does. I wrote it in the first place.

Rule #2 would be so much easier if it like, didn't exsist and stuff.

@Aran - My browser is full size. There's a good 6" of nothingness to the right of the words.

Jewel's not the only one to have that problem. I don't see it now, but I've had it before with the Legends of Divinity IC 1 thread.

(Reads Jewel's comment on Rule #88.)

(Attempts to add Jewel's to The List.)

(Realizes The List is full, and grabs another sheet.)

If we are updating the list, here is a very necessary one:

104. No matter how obvious the joke, some people will take it seriously.

PS Any copy of this list needs to include the whole thread, because many jokes make sence only in their original context.

Be careful with a word, as you would with a sword,
For it too has the power to kill.
However well placed word, unlike a well placed sword,
Can also have the power to heal.

I didn't catch one warning that, although passable grammar is expected, it is not constructive to mention every little typo.

Myself, I'd like to interject a warning recommending that the edit button be used in moderation. That seems to be one of my biggest flaws.

I think it's an IE issue, because I have the same problem jewels described when I'm using internet explorer but it looks fine when I'm using firefox.

That's how I got where I am now. It should work for any intelligent, skilled(or at least potential to be), noob.

Sorry for being semi-offtopic.

Could someone who sees this issue take a screenshot of the full browser window please? Jewels' picture isn't much to go on without the surrounding page...

How about the ones not predisposed to self-flattery? ;)

---

This is tricky. See, on one hand I itch to make fun of a name like "Shadowsong", yet on the other hand I simply cannot be mean towards someone who bashes Vista. Welcome to Spiderweb.
