Sorry to say this, but this was actually quite a stupid thing to just say, especially here. If you find somebody who is really precise with everything and who hates your luck, might report you or something.

Help! I think I broke my game! in The Exile Trilogy

Its not really about the fact if you have registered or not, just what to do about "a broken game," and the only solution i can give for something like that, is try to reload a save-file, and see what happens when you DON'T the same thing as you have done first. Also, without registering, one CAN understand what's going on. maybe don't have a good picture of it, but certainly understanding what'g oing on: walktrough's. I got very curious what happened and read the end of some walkthrough.

You didn't know he wasn't done asking yet? Why, he asked a question just in the post before your post!

The cooking thing you said is really irrelevant. First if all, i don't say I'm an expert, and second, I thought I really could help. I just try to be helpful, even when i can't really give good advice, I at least try to give good advice, instead of just sayting others' advice isn't usefull. How do i know if you know what we are talking about? Maybe you don't know what's going on? Are you actually registered? I could think of a whole lot of things to ask now.

Just one other small thing: People, even without knowing what's really going on, still can give advice by just using their brains.

Mixed feelings.

The moment I touched the arrow-keys and started moving around, a surge of relief rushed through me: Its turned based!!! However, What I didn't like was that the view didn't shift automatically with your party, but I think I saw a function to let it shift with the party somewhere?

However, i must say it still disturbs me that there are different graphics. i also thought Jeff said that the shaper and guardian graphics were just something that would be changed later, but I'm now definetely walkign around with a shaper and guardian in my party. Apart from that, i simply don't like the graphics. For me Avernum lost a piece of its charme, and I think that's a pity. I also find it strange that nobody can die, but is just unconscious. off all things I have seen, how more unrealistic can you get!?

A USB memorystick (that's how its called I think) Does work, and it works quite well. i use it all the time. The only problem is its price. more then 50 euro's for one of 256 mb I think, and only 10 euro for a stack of 10 rewriatble CD's (that includes boxes).

I don't want to be arrogant or something, no reallt, I don't, but when I was three (or four, i can't really remember) I almost managed to beat the Dark knight in dark castle. I was really adicted to that game.

Okay, that would have been test, test 1, 2, 3... but for this occasion, i chnaged it. I know this has been asked about a million times, but I'm not satisfied. I'm in the ussual dillema of "I can't decide." Its Avernum 1, 2 or 3. i don't want to buy all of them, because of a lack of money. I want just one of them, but I like them all. What are you guys opinions about each of the games? I tried all demo's, I'm replaying them now. In short: I enjoyed Avernum 3 the most, but I'm curious to all endings of all games. What happens with haw-Thorn, what happens with the Vahnatai, what happens with Rentar-Irhno? I know of all of the endings what actually happens, but I want to see for myself, and that's just the problem! How can i decide if all plots interest me!

On another note: the BoA scenario competition. Is it only once in so many years, or is it every year?

Actually, trying to use a more or less permanent medium to exchange files between computers is bound to run into problems. If there is any other way - say, if both computers can be connected to the internet (with a broadband access, naturally), then even that would be preferable.

And when burning a CD, you should get used to burning it in a single session. Use the program to arrange the files as you want them on the CD, then burn it all at once. Anything else is sure to cause trouble. Of course, that makes it necessary to choose in advance what files you need to transfer.

I tried using a connection once, but after two days, my Imac G3 became so slow that i stopped it and re-installed the system. After a week or so my mothers Emac also became very slow.

Ah okay. If that's what you have to do, i don't really see the use of a rewritable disc. And by the way, all the macs do read all sessions that were burnt on the disc. What you see is multiple CD's appearing on the desktop.

I thought you could burn multiple times on a recordable disc, and could burn end erase stuff on a rewriatble disc. Maybe I was wrong? Anyway, Drakefyre, what you mean to say, is that I have to copy all stuff I want to burn on the disc afterwards into the same folder as I already burnt onto the disc?

And no, not everybody knows what the problem might be. Some people just try to at least say something helpful, instead of saying to other people their advice is worth nothing but giving no advice themselves! And by the way, I did give more advice, but according to you, that's probably also worthless advice. People would be more enclined to agree with you if you first try to help to solve the problem and then saying to other people the advice thay gave was worthless, don't you think?

To summarize: Stop nagging and at least try to help instead of nagging other people's advice was worthless!!

Urquhart Dutch!? Thuryl, I really expected better from you. The "hart" part could be Dutch, but there are almost no suranmes in Dutch with a "q" in it. And then again, it doesn't even sound Dutch. its like you would say that the surname "McCoy" is actually indian.

Scotland and Holland are totaly different. that they are both small nationms in the middle of the ocean also is not correct. Just take a quik look in the atlas, and you'll see that Scotland lies somewhere at border of the North Sea and the ocean, while Holland lies at the borders of Western Europe (Scotland actually also belongs to Western Europe (I think) but just to tell the difference we'll say Scotland isn't part of the continent "Western Europe").

Okay, i understand it was meant as a joke, but when it comes to this sort of thing, I tend to get a little serieus. my sanity still is in the possesion of the fluffy turtles.

EDIT: I saw just now Aran also said something about a difference between the two countries. One that is true.

What made you post when you had nothing to say?

Read the post again: I did give an advice. Ijusr meant that i don't know what's happening because I only have the demo version. I know, I said it in a strange way.

My CD-ROM drive is only a year old, i think, the CD_ROm drive I had before that (It took about a year and then it broke down) also couldn't read it proparly.

Arancaytar: Its no real use compresing them for the same reason as i told ben, and that is that is you only have one set of files to put on the disc, and you don't know what other sets of files you will put on the disc, its hard to compress the files you have and with that the files you don't have.

Another small thing: recordable disks also don't seem to work when buring another session.

Burn the CD on a PC. :P

Anyway, if it will only read the last file you put on it, you could put the files on one at a time, transferring them as you go. It's only six files.

Its hard to put things all at once on a disc when you don't really know what other files you'll be putting on it except for the files you already have, and you still want a backup. And its actually six folder, over which a hundred Photographs are devided

Okay, this is extremely off-topic, even for the general boards, but I thought you guys would know this, and Microsoft simply lets you pay for their help.

So this is my problem: I burned a disc (rewritable) on my Mother's Emac (Mac OS 10.3.0) and used a special program to do that, called Roxytoast lite 9or something like that). I burned the disc in the format "Mac OS and PC extended." The problem is that my PC Only read the last file that was put on the disc. So i put six files on it, not at once, but one after the other, and the PC will only read the last on the CD putten file. Can anybody explain to me what's wrong?

And another small question, I can't get to the tower of Zkal in the Avernum 3 demo, can I?

Yes, Linux, I know. It was a typo.

And yes, I have no idea what you are talking about. All this bussines with two OS's on one computer sounds strange to me, and the thing with the washing machine.... Ahem, okaaaaay....

Anyway, thanks for the information. The chance that I will do anything with Linux now is quite small, but thanks anyway.
