Well, the descision is more or less unanimously ambiguous. Until further evidence is provided and the matter is inquired or challenged further, I declare Alorael to be tolerati but guilty of violating the Albæ Sententiæ. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

My friends, accomplices, and acquainances: I have been mulling over a quite distressing matter for quite a long period of time now and I have arrived at a startling conclusion which causes me great dismay: the stony, frozen hell of Subterra, although recently experiencing some feverish activity, is still most unworthy of its lowest-of-the-low domain at the bottom of the forum index (which is coincidentally in close proximity to one's mouse upon clicking the forum index list approximately 75% of the time) and much must be done at once to rectify this. I propose that we once and for all take back what is and was rightfully ours: the seat of power at the bottom of the index, and through this act gain glory and power for ourselves, our compatriots, and our Lord. We cannot allow the heathens of hell to continue to taint our land, mandated to us by the true representatives of White on Earth. We must join together, go on Crusade, take back our honor and dignity and most importantly our holy land, exterminate or convert the heathen menace by any means possible, and finally erect a huge monument to His glory. More or less, let's spam in Subterra for a while. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

quote:I've highlighted the words which use negative connotations and which I find excessive. It's generally expected that, when talking about conquering some territory, it would be by force. As for a "brutal" war, how was it any more brutal than others? By the way, just an observation. If you hear someone praising the Islamic Empire as the pinnacle of tolerance and then feel the need to correct them, then you must feel that you have a culture which better fits that example. Since you also mentioned the Roman Empire, it's probably that one. But I honestly cannot believe that someone would think that the Roman Empire was more tolerant than the Islamic Empire. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

"Please, mister Vogel, won't you update the game?" "No, haha! Now give me your delicious souls!" ... That's more or less what would happen. Yep. Anyway, the E/A games don't have really great 1) Plots (although in an MMORPG you can't expect much anyway) 2) Settings (including races, time, organizations, etc.) 3) Combat Systems (including the spell systems) I can't really see what part you would use to make an actual good game. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

quote:If you honestly feel that this is a personal issue, then I won't try to force you to elaborate any further. However, I want to press this issue. The President of the United States of America is an elected leader, not a representative. The actions of the President reflect on the American people only indirectly. As for other military leaders, like generals, the American opinion has almost no bearing on their decisions or power. And since most of the members of Spidweb are young-to-college age males, I'm going to assume that you weren't alive during World War II; ergo, you could have done nothing to stop the bomb. So why is it a "black mark" specifically to you? -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

If you want to avoid legal problems, you can generally get good pictures from Wikipedia. Most of the uploaded pictures are on the public domain. Just make sure to check that the picture actually is on the public domain. Also, I think there's a law somewhere saying that a person cannot give out legal advice without being held accountable for the results. But that's not legal advice, and I'm not a lawyer. ;) -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

quote:A reward like that is only interesting if you leave alive someone to use it on... I think that scripting would let you give bonuses to different creatures depending on their slot, but that means that a Fyora in slot 1 would get the same bonus as a Battle Alpha in slot 1. So it could be done through scripting, but it would be ugly. If this idea is implemented, it would probably work out better if it was done through the game's engine. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

quote:[/b] I don't care about whether the dungeon is combat-oriented; I care about the fact that gorgons, undead, and spiders do not exist in the same area peacefully. quote:Okay, sure. The scenarios may not be related plot-wise. But I was talking about the use of beams, portuculi, and waterfalls. The fact that they're all in straight rows shows that you haven't yet learned to mix up your tiles or localize them. Instead of thinking, "Okay, how can I paint this entire town/section?", try thinking "Okay, how can I paint this window?". It allows you to focus and develop small details, instead of creating one giant and bland blob. After surfing your site some more, I'd also like to point out that almost all (if not all) of the graphics you are hosting are edits of Spidweb graphics. Yet you make no mention of Spidweb and ask that credit be given to yourself. I know this isn't the topic, but now that those screenshots have been brought up I want to say that the third screenshot displays an area sort of like Rentar's fortress in Undead Valley. And as Thuryl more or less once said, "the BoA community generally takes poorly to weird **** for the sake of weird ****" in reference to unrelated monsters being in the same place. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

If you're having trouble pinpointing errors using line numbers, you can insert blank spaces into the script. These will move the error down. So if you get an error on line 90, you can enter two blank spaces. If the error line doesn't change, the spaces were both after line 90. If the error line changed to 91, the error is between the two spaces. If the error line changed to 92, the error line is after both blank lines. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |
