There are two towns named Marralis in the Avernum series, one in A3, and another in BoA-VoDT. I was wondering, are there any other towns like this in the Avernum series? -------------------- I tried to think of something witty to put here. Needless to say, I failed. There's Silvar the underground city and Silvar the surface village, but it's intentional. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

I don't remember any town named Marralis in A3. Well, there definitely wasn't one in E3, and google searching the name only turns up VoDT references. Are you sure about that? Edit: Also, the text dumps for E3 and A3 both have nothing when I search for "Marralis". I don't remember Marralis being in E3, but I do remember a port town with a very similar name. It eludes me at the moment since I haven't played that game in years. I'm thinking Isle of Bigail, so what are all the names of the towns associated with that area? -------------------- Thuryl: I mean, most of us don't go around consuming our own bodily fluids, no matter how delicious they are. ==== Alorael: War and violence would end if we all had each other's babies! ==== Drakefyre: Those are hideous mangos. My only E3 save game is immediately before defeating Rentar (yet again). But I still know the answer, since Jeff kindly mentioned the town of Marish in his final text of the game. quote:So yeah, sounds like Marralis... -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

The Marralis in A3 is in a highly remote area of Valorim. I think it's somewhere near that town where you get attacked by the Rakshasi. I remember it because there are undead roaming around. And something about roads and trees. -------------------- I tried to think of something witty to put here. Needless to say, I failed. Posts: 2686 | Registered: Friday, September 8 2006 07:00 |

Malloc, Marish, Mernia, Menara? There is no Marralis in A3. There is a Marish. That's probably what you (Nioca) were thinking of. -------------------- quote: Posts: 1115 | Registered: Sunday, May 15 2005 07:00 |

Marish! That's what I was trying to think of. Hmmm, has anyone ever considered that Malloc was named after malloc()? -------------------- Thuryl: I mean, most of us don't go around consuming our own bodily fluids, no matter how delicious they are. ==== Alorael: War and violence would end if we all had each other's babies! ==== Drakefyre: Those are hideous mangos. Hmmm. I was sure there was a Marralis in A3, but apparently not... Shows you how long it's been since I've played it. :o -------------------- I tried to think of something witty to put here. Needless to say, I failed. Posts: 2686 | Registered: Friday, September 8 2006 07:00 |

Memory allocation! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malloc We definitely had this discussion before ... Calloc is a town in Exile III too. quote:Now there's something I could use... Maybe it would help me remember things like the fact there isn't a Marralis in A3. I know this is somewhat off-topic, but has anyone noticed, when Jeff designs a game, that the Undead plagues tend to happen near towns or areas that start with the letter M? Marish, Malloc, Mertis, and so forth? :) -------------------- I tried to think of something witty to put here. Needless to say, I failed. Posts: 2686 | Registered: Friday, September 8 2006 07:00 |

... I never noticed that before. I was always reminded of Malac's Cross when I went to that town. -------------------- (Adds the town Strxfrm to scenario.) Posts: 1509 | Registered: Tuesday, January 10 2006 08:00 |
