Who the heck are you??

Nobody you would want to argue politics, accuracy in journalism, human rights or international law with. Take my word for it.

Awww, come on Aran, stop being such a spoilsport.

So, you are opinionated. Big hairy deal. The fact that you ignore what I say, in favor of what you think I should have said, exposes your "reason" as the malfunction that it truly has become. But, what else should I have expected from someone with your backround?

FYI - Someone has to live below the poverty line. 20% ain't too shabby for a country lacking the EU advantages. What is the percentage within the USA? France? Also, using the CIA Factbook is garbage reasoning. Use something that is real. :)

That said, of all the Infinity Engine games, I enjoyed Icewind Dale 2 the most.

Dark Alliance 2 was alright, but the first one was definitely better. As for the Infinity Engine, ID2 was the most polished, but you'll get that with the 5th game made for the engine. :P Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal Expansion has the best plot, IMHO. I must say that I have enjoyed every Bioware Forgotten Realms RPG to some extent though.

I started with BG-SoA, managed to stop caring when my notebook got completely filled with stuff I needed to remember. Cheated out the rest of it until a PC upgrade made the game unplayable. This means my ToB expansion is still in the shrink wrap. Sad. I liked the game, and if I had less other things to do, I might try playing it again. Having shelled out a Jackson for BoE, I'm likely to be busy for a while....

I've been meaning to suggest this book, merely as counterpoint to the obsessing on Tolkien. Also because the Harvard Lampoon is one of the most underappreciated bastions of American humor in the 20th (and 21st) century.

How sad that I get honored for my fishing prowess at a time when I've voluntarily ceased fishing in favor of w...o....r...k...

This is a day that will long live in infamy. Especially after I've heard that the fishing is infreakingcredible at 46.10/124.50.

Stupid fish. Don't they know I'm done for the season?

That would have been perfectly acceptable to me, but what is it with physics guys getting dates? You have something against them? Months, years, days of the week, you're all good with those, but actual dates seem to be the bugaboo.

I'm afraid August just won't work for me. You'll have to move that to a different month for those of us handicapped by temporal forces.

Lawyers certainly tend to have a better understanding of the statutory process than most other professions.
No disrespect Drew, I find you to be a refreshing person in this imperfect world. But, come on man. 95% of the problem is that lawyers have defined a process in which they are the only profession that is compentent to operate. We (non-lawyers) have been shut out of almost every aspect of life which demands some sort of agreement. The pinnacle, of course, is the agreement between citizen and government. If it is difficult for a well educated and well informed person to comprehend that particular agreement, than I have to conclude that the agreement is not working. It may be correct, legal, terse, verbose, eloquent, or coarse, but it certainly is not useful.

And besides, wasn't it just a few years ago that we decried the humongous DoD contract with Halliburton? In which they were the only bidder? Because they had written the criteria for the RFP? That is why I don't, and won't, trust lawyers that willingly choose to practice government.

Again, no offense, nothing against lawyers in general (RW forum is a different story) and hope that this discussion continues.

Oh, and on topic.

Have the candidates (through League of Women Voters) set up any debates, town halls, or other open forums in which you can hear their views first-hand? It was in just such a venue that I first discovered that Gore was a tree-stump, Bush was a smary know-it-all, and Kerry was on Lithium. It would be refreshing to have a candidate on whom I wished to tender my vote. Maybe Deval Patrick could be that guy. SoT? Thoughts? Does he have what it would take to be a contenda in 10 or 14 years?
