Do you trust people? in General

Do I trust people? Well, I trust them to act according to their motiviations. I've learned that my actions/inactions can cause corresponding things to happen with other people, so if I act in good faith, most other people will as well. That's the nice thing about people, they are so easily influenced to be trustworthy and friendly.

I have a wide array of friends from Maine to Hawaii, and I would indeed trust them with my life, possessions, girlfriend, anything. That is my definition of friendship, and I have honored that obligation as well. It's a much nice place when you have friends like that.

As far as complete strangers, I trust them every day. I trust that other drivers won't run me off the road. I trust that someone won't walk into my house and take stuff. I trust that my neighbors know who is welcome and unwelcome to visit while I'm away. The question itself is difficult to answer in the negative, since humanity depends on trust for its survival.

Pit, the fast-paced card game from Parker Brothers, has been a top performer since its introduction way back in 1904. With all the ups and downs, desperate deals, and nonstop action of an actual trading floor, this lively game offers great fun without risking the family fortune. The rules are simple: Deal the cards, wait for the opening bell, scream and trade like crazy, be the first to corner a specific market (nine cards of the same suit), and ring the closing bell. Sounds pretty realistic, doesn't it? Once you've got the basic game mastered, try throwing Bull and Bear cards into the mix--that's when things get really interesting!

Sport fishing.

Commercial salmon fishing.

Boardgame - Scrabble
Specialty card game - Pit
Card game - Cribbage
Team sports - Soccer, base/softball
Individual sport - Umm. No.

The only game system I've owned was a colecovision. They stopped making them a while ago. Ooops, I had a pong game before that. RF modulators rule!

Most PC computer games are resource hogs, and demand a lot of memory and money. Therefore, I only play games that came out prior to 2001, or SW games. I may come around, but I doubt it.

It pleases me immensely that marquee style is not available here. But strikeout would be nice, I have wanted to use it in the past.

The biggest thing I miss about Boston is the multitude of Dunkin Donuts stores. Iced coffee with milk and sugar. Yes, a large. Better make that two. I do miss the days (yes, I remember them) when they made the donuts in each store. That was fun.

The closest one to me is 90 minutes away, and I never seem to want coffee when I drive past it. Also, I rarely drive past it.

And you're right, KK is all hype.

At US$5 for a moderately sized box of sugary cereal, it gets more expensive for breakfast. It's a shame that sugar seems to be the prime motivator, as breakfast "in my day" was a big meal to get you ready for working for several hours. Sugar may contain the "pop" to get you on the school bus, but the crash happens as soon as your butt hits the board in school. Plus, all those chemicals aren't good for your body.

It took them all this time to search through the mod board for references to Thuryl. I have it on good authority that there was a plot to discover Thuryl's weakness so that it could be used against him during his drive toward world domination. Obviously the effort failed and he is well on his way. Congrats again.

Ahhh honey. The drink of the dogs. We're out of honey as I neglected to set up the beehives this summer. So, the neighbor is sending his bees to collect my nectar and return to him.

Double yes to raspberry icecream. I made some last week and it is excellent. One dollop on your hot porridge and it melts and oozes all over. And since the ice cream is half and half and heavy cream, you don't add anything else to the porridge.

Edit - Mistakenly wrote dogs instead of gods. Left it for comic relief.

Not that anyone asked me to share, but as I grew up in Boston, and lived for several years in Maine, Texas, California, and now Oregon, and having spent many summers in Ontario (Canada), I have the most neutral American accent. Of course after visiting a place for a few weeks I do start assuming the local dialect as my own.

Examples -
About = aboot (Minnesota and Canada)
Car = Cah or cahr (Boston)
Yes = Ayuh (Maine)
You look so pretty = May I go fishing all weekend? (Here and now)

Porridge.

The wonderful thing about porridge is that you are basically building your own breakfast. I've added banana, nuts, blueberries, whole milk, raspberries, blackberries, chocolate covered coffee beans, salt, kiwi, orange slices, brown sugar, heavy cream, refined white sugar, raisins, cane sugar, salmon, apple slices, 2% milk, plum slices, left over rice, raspberry ice cream, and huckleberries. They didn't all turn out great, but it is always a most nutritious meal.

Are there any other oatmeal afficianados out there that could recommend other toppings for delicious oatmeal?

Not that I would ever suggest a connection, but is it possible that the suckiness of nsync and the disappearance of RW are connected? I could understand if he had been forced to listen to a compendium (can't say greatest hits) against his will, he may still be hiding under the front porch, quivering and not trusting that the music has stopped.

Edit - 400th, wish it had been more useful.

Excessive exposure to sunlight can also change hair color, but only the parts that are exposed, and maybe not all the hair exposed. But definitely some of the exposed hair on some people can become lighter after being out in the sun. I think this only works if the hair is still attached to the body, but without exhausting trials I can really say for sure.

I think you are being asked to either expand on the wierdness of the conversation, or to deny yourself the pleasure of adding nothing to a topic beyond a seemingly random series of puncuation.

However, if I interprete those same marks correctly, you are merely requesting some assistance in your efforts to undermine (literally) the ferret assembly grounds. Perhaps an air strike from harpy eagles?

If this is incorrect, then re-read the first part of this post, and remember that pressing the Add Reply button is optional.

Yeah, there is no boat at that dock. Rather than repair the code I went down to the vahnatai dock under the guys house and looked at the scrying crystal again.

It turns out I had already appeased Posideon. Unfortunately Loki had overheard the prayers and felt like having a little fun at my expense. The buoy data I had been accessing was being messed with, and today the ocean had 2 foot swells and no wind. Most unlike the forecast and "current" bouy data.

I can't sacrifice the bull until next month anyways, but it will happen. Until then I'll just have to gamble that Posideon remains happy and Loki doesn't tinker with the fuel gauge in the boat.

The goats were remarkably blemish free, but they definitely do NOT appreciate being shaved. The neighbors would have complained about the burnt hair smell though. I managed a smallish pyre, with cedar, oak, fir, maple, an old deck chair, and a small family of mice. The red wine was added, but I lack urns, perhaps jugs are good enough? I used extra virgin olive oil, because I know the gods liked their virgins.

To ignite it I used blasting caps and generous lengths of fuse, and after that failed to do anything but demolish the mice nest I resorted to naptha soaked incense cedar. Aside from humans, are there any other prefered animals to sacrifice? I'll do the lamb if I have to, but they are even worse about the shaving procedure.

After re-reading toast's experience-based knowledge, I realize I forgot to add potatoes. *#&@$. Well, I'll have to start all over again then. No wonder the swells keep getting bigger!

Just to be on the safe side I continue to sacrifice animals. Just yesterday I got a phone call (new method of communicating with God) ordering me to sacrifice yet another goat in order to appease Posideon. Apparently goat blood calms the ocean waves.

This is three goats in three days, and the swells are still marching on shore. I am beginning to lose faith. Perhaps I need to step up the value of the sacrifice.
