I assume you have gotten the request to help out around the valley. Don't forget to help out in the fort to the north. Someone other than the commander there will be asking for the help. *this message funded by flag inc* -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

The readme file covers the first point, so I won't post a spoiler here. Overwhelming is one way to describe the enemy, and it is probably a good time to work on tactics. I prefered using invulnerability potions, but even they wore off before combat ended. Dread Curse? I never got that little gem. *this message sponsored by the letters t and x* -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Utterly mystifying. That test asks some pretty loaded questions. Anyhow... You scored as atheism. You are... an atheist, though you probably already knew this. Also, you probably have several people praying daily for your soul. Instead of simply being "nonreligious," atheists strongly believe in the lack of existence of a higher being, or God. atheism 75% Paganism 67% Islam 54% Buddhism 46% agnosticism 38% Judaism 33% Hinduism 29% Satanism 21% Christianity 8% I like that the scoring placed Egoism and Christianity at the bottom, together. I guess I did poorly on Hinduism because of my steady diet of red meat. quote:Before there was Abraham there were pagans. Almost all pagan values got wrapped into the Abrahamic religions. It must be confusing to write a quiz to gauge all the religions at once, rather than test each on separately. *this message welcomes back Drakey with a big :P * Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Separation of church and state arose as an issue for colonists because the head of the anglican church was also the king of the country. It allowed the king to punish people who didn't follow or support his policies with various tools of religion to enforce his secular views. The handful of men that put together the declaration of independence did not think it was just that their souls be in danger because of their political views. Excommunication from the church was a very real fear for a rebellous colonist, and it was well within the power of the king to make that happen. The question here, about Prez Junior, is one of propriety. The US may be predominantly christian, but it also has adherents to many other religions. Each of those religions is equal in the eye of the law (umm maybe not the IRS though) and adherents to each faith have the right to expect that their president does not espouse one particular religion over another. It is fine for Georgie Bush to pray, hell he can pray, whirl like a Dervish, or make a pilgrimage to Mecca for all I care. The point is, that when a person is representing something larger than oneself, it is imperative to act that role. Our little monkey-man is not respecting the office of the presidency, the supreme court, or the american people when he utters words of faith in conjunction with words of government policy. This is exactly the same as the ruling against prayer in public schools. No prayer as it may exclude people of other religions. I wonder what people would be thinking if a Moslem sat in the Oval Office. Would it be okay for him to drop to the rug at sundown in the middle of a news conference? I suspect that the Moslem would have the dignity to schedule events accordingly, and that the American people would demand that of him/her. *this message funded by the salem match company* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Yes. But plan on spending 3 times as long fixing the BoA version as you did making the BoE version. As for porting someone elses scenario, that is even more difficult. *this message is stock* -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

They may not even have the same type of fish! I wouldn't wish bass fishing on any other nation. It would cause rioting, encourage terrorism, and cause more television coverage over this vile activity. My view of the man holding the office of president? He can't spell, he can't remember important facts, he damages the reputation of the country, he lies to the world, he invades foriegn countries, he lacks understanding, and he continues to be a hopeless failure in all his endeavours. It's no wonder if the world looks at the USA as a bunch of over-privileged morons. *this message sponsored by McCain/Bradley '08* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Actually, Odin is the name of the boat. It is considered good manners to praise the boat when it brings you home safely. The current method of praise is saying "good boat, thank you." And then proceed to the gas dock and make your sacrificial offering of $2.94 per gallon and refill the lovely boat with her gorgeous 87 gallon stomach. *this message really does support sacrificial offerings* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Actually, a lot of books from the Hawthorne era (1800's) offer a lot of insight into sociology. Some of the historical stuff shows the biases of the author and society, and there was a lot of social commentary written as well. The Great Gatsby is an interesting look at a portion of society, as is the aforementioned Scarlet Letter. I've found that the books that stand the test of time are usually those that provide insight into society and still demonstrate the quirks as they exist today. I'm not sure I have a role model, but I do hold myself to a standard that is pretty high. I guess I don't bother trying to compare myself against other people, and I couldn't care less about the acclaim they may receive. So there. :P *this message sponsored by sammy clemens* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

I say a prayer of thanks whenever I catch a fish or arrive back at port safely. Of course, I am praying to the river god and ocean god, not some gentrified omniscient thing. I also give an offering when I first hit the water, usually a splash of coffee to wake up the fish. It would seem redundant to pray before eating. I guess I'm still a hunter-gatherer at heart. *this message sponsored by posideon and odin* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

I was, of course, respecting your noggin' when I posted before. The threads are the spiral groove cut into the end of the bolt/screw that match the nut being used. So, that blue stuff creates a high-friction environment in the threads of the bolt and nut when they are put together. This link makes what I said seem legit, but it also makes it very confusing. As a homeowner, I've become very familiar with bolts, lag screws, regular screws, plumbing, and anything else that has threads. The gf even has a sewing machine that uses even more threads. :P Edit - forgot to vote. Downright SPAM!!! but now we seem to have a real discussion. This little picture of the bolt and nut wasn't helpful enough? It's this blue gunk which bonds the two pieces together, making it more difficult for it to shake free. Very useful in scope mounts, engine pieces, and other thingies that have to absorb a tremendous amount of shock. *this message sponsored by the pneumatic air tool company* -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Free climbing a 80 foot cliff in Maine. I had asked a guy at the bottom how that particular ascent was, and he said he had done it yesterday. So I got stuck with no way up about 20 feet from the top. Eventually I reached another grip about 5 feet away, but had to basically jump to get there. Easy from there, but when I got up to the flat on top the guy's climbing partner was horrified at what I had just done. Apparently the guy at the bottom had used ropes and had failed (peeled away from the rocks) three times before making the same manuveur I had done. Several beers later I managed to stop shaking and that was it for me on the whole climbing without safety ropes thing. Never been scared by a video game, real life is the real thing. *this message sponsored by the carabiner* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

I believe that whenever we do anything, whether it is through the internet or other media, we basically are trusting that the people we communicate with will not take that communication as the sum total of our being. Even though I tend to be a wiseass at times, that is not all of me. I do tend to concentrate on fishing, but that also is not all of me (but it comes close). I'm not at all concerned that someone could "find" me based on the posts available here, but I've hopefully not driven anyone into the type of murderous rage that might make that happen. I think it is somewhat in our nature as people to find out more about other people, which leads to the googling and other investigative methods. It is mostly harmless. I had an online friend a few years ago that was absolutely paranoid about her online persona allowing someone to find her real-life identity. I emailed her once and told her where she lived and her full name. That freaked her out, but she learned (hopefully) to adapt some her online life to make it harder for a person to locate her. I was of course yelled at by her, as she apparently wanted to labor in the illusion of privacy. I had another online friend that I ended up meeting several times and eventually moved in together. That lasted 6 months, as our personalities in real-life weren't quite as "perfect" as the internet one. For the record, I have emailed three people on this forum, they all now have the tools to locate me and abuse that knowledge. I trust them to not do that, mostly based on gut feeling and the nature of their posting. I am also a member of another message board where people sit down for dinner all the time. We go fishing together, swap techniques, hang out on the dock or help each other at sea. The board serves as a meetiing place for people during the brief "non-fishing" times to talk/dream about more fishing. I find I am more comfortable here than there, as fisher(people) tend to get a little fanatical at times. I do sometimes wonder why some people are so judgemental, but I guess that is human nature as well. *this message is sponsored by google* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |
