Given the fact that most people have been around a lot longer than you this is common knowledge. Please stop with the pointless spam. Posts: 776 | Registered: Friday, July 4 2003 07:00 |

Kingy, be nice. Incidentally, there's no reason you can't extend this to other things as well. If you enclose anything in URL tags, even an image, it'll become a link. See? Click on my face and it takes you to my website. [ Tuesday, July 26, 2005 22:42: Message edited by: Thuryl ] -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! I'm not locking this topic unless it turns particularly bad. It's at least as useful as the "karma" topics that occasionally get posted, and those aren't normally locked. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Spring - Really? I'm sure this topic has come up before not so long ago in some other topic or another. And hey, I'm sure everyone knows you, given the fact that I do and I haven't exactly been around that long. It has been said before, but not on a constant basis, so you can't blame him for thinking he found out something. No need to meet it with hostility. But yeah, if it can easily be done with HTML, it can probably be done here somehow. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

Not everything, unfortunately. A way to <s>strike out text</s> would be very handy on occasion, and so would a different font [ Wednesday, July 27, 2005 07:07: Message edited by: Arancaytar has left the building. ] -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! And underlining, which is standard on many boards. [Edit: Better points to make. Or points. Maybe?] —Alorael, who supposes that fake links work as underlining and color changing, but they're ugly. Actually, at CSM there's options for colored text, tables, and anything else you can think of and would never use. And here we are still on UBB. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

CSM (and all forums made by SuddenLaunch) have underline, bold, italic, strike out, colour changing, and marquee style fonts. -------------------- I'll put a Spring in your step. Polaris Posts: 2396 | Registered: Saturday, January 29 2005 08:00 |

Using underlining for things that aren't links is bad etiquette anyway. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

It pleases me immensely that marquee style is not available here. But strikeout would be nice, I have wanted to use it in the past. *this message sponsored by truetype* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

At the end of the day those things would just get boring and tedius anyway. They would just end up annoying people when newcomers start using them constantly. Posts: 776 | Registered: Friday, July 4 2003 07:00 |

But then we could use them back at the newcomers, and with more style and flair. Then they would run away, terrified of our asthetic might. (Edit: is "asthetic" the word I want? I mean "prettiness". It sounds right...) [ Thursday, July 28, 2005 06:44: Message edited by: SupaNik ] -------------------- "I am a living sign..." Thus endeth this post. Yes, aesthetic can be uesed in that context. Using different colors or strikeout would be useful at times, but marquee style sounds annoying, as does constant underlining. Lots of bright colors, flashing and scrolling text would make this forum too obviously not work-related to read at work. :) The only function I'd find somewhat useful would be strikethrough, but for the few <strike>spams</strike>jokes I'd use it for, I can find other ways. -------------------- Be careful with a word, as you would with a sword, For it too has the power to kill. The only thing that's fun about marquee is the ability to fill the screen with moving :D s. But in reality, even with many of these fancy text formatting things, I rarely use any of them. Maybe they should just enable HTML. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |
