This is just a poll to satisfy my own curiosity. For those of you who buy everything off-brand (like me), select whichever on-brand cereal is the closest to your version. I don't really eat brekkie. I usually have a glass of Milo, but if I'm especially ravenous, toast. I just don't really eat it. -------------------- I'll put a Spring in your step. Polaris Posts: 2396 | Registered: Saturday, January 29 2005 08:00 |

Um my fav is def Lucky Charms; I like Froot Loops, Oreo O’s, and Frosted Flakes too. My little brother loves Frosted Flakes so we ALWAYS have at least 2 boxes of that in the house, but since we all eat different cereal we got : Lucky charms, Froot loops, frosted flakes, Oreo O's, Fruity Pebbles, and honeycomb in the house. Yes I know, there are too many cereals (especially in a Dominican household, but that's what we all get for breakfast, and as I said we all love different things). I mostly eat Froot loops and always for breakfast, though sometimes for dinner if I’m in the mood. Posts: 1035 | Registered: Friday, April 1 2005 08:00 |

Porridge. The wonderful thing about porridge is that you are basically building your own breakfast. I've added banana, nuts, blueberries, whole milk, raspberries, blackberries, chocolate covered coffee beans, salt, kiwi, orange slices, brown sugar, heavy cream, refined white sugar, raisins, cane sugar, salmon, apple slices, 2% milk, plum slices, left over rice, raspberry ice cream, and huckleberries. They didn't all turn out great, but it is always a most nutritious meal. Are there any other oatmeal afficianados out there that could recommend other toppings for delicious oatmeal? *this message sponsored by quaker oats - just don't eat it plain* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Ahhh honey. The drink of the dogs. We're out of honey as I neglected to set up the beehives this summer. So, the neighbor is sending his bees to collect my nectar and return to him. Double yes to raspberry icecream. I made some last week and it is excellent. One dollop on your hot porridge and it melts and oozes all over. And since the ice cream is half and half and heavy cream, you don't add anything else to the porridge. Edit - Mistakenly wrote dogs instead of gods. Left it for comic relief. *this message sponsored by hormone-free beef - because cows don't need hormones* [ Monday, July 25, 2005 21:52: Message edited by: Jumpin' Salmon ] Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

I like Crunchy Nut Cornflakes but I see they werent on the list. I just selected Honey-Nut-Cheerios because it sounded the closest. For those of you who dont know Crunchy Nut Cornflakes are cornflakes coated in honey with nuts on them. Posts: 776 | Registered: Friday, July 4 2003 07:00 |

Well, Cheerios are made out of oats (and wheat?), not corn, but are otherwise the same. Is it just me, or is there a general agreement that breakfast is very important? Thus making Spring's choice undesirable? I usually go with All Bran Buds and either granola or Grapenuts for a little extra flavor and texture. Instead of milk, I go with lowfat vanilla yogurt, which is usually pretty good. Bran Buds are the best source of fiber among breakfast cereals, I believe - 52% of your daily allowance in one serving! - and fiber makes life happier. I have bad memories of oatmeal from my crew weight-cutting days. My favorite topping for it though is definitely honey. Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

My all-time favorites have to be Banana Nut Crunch and Honey Bunches of Oats, but I've always been partial to Cheerios and Life. -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Happy Happy Joy Joy desperance.net - We're Everywhere ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Interesting you should mention that - I've managed to train myself based on the size of bowls and the amount of cereal to pour the right amount of milk so that the milk will be gone at the same time the cereal is gone, with maybe a tiny bit left. I'd kill for Lucky Charms. Nobody seems to stock them in England anymore. They are my favourite cereal. I mostly eat Coco Pops / Cheerios. I eat cereal mostly at night, although I'd eat it any time. And I, like Drakey, have mastered the art of milk-pouring. I always have just a little bit of milk at the bottom of the dish. -------------------- "I am a living sign..." Thus endeth this post. I pour in as much as I possibly can without seriously compromising my ability to carry the bowl to the kitchen table. The more milk left the better, I say, especially if it's in a cereal that gives it extra flavor. I eat Shredded Wheat (not frosted), Raisin Bran, and variations on the theme of Cheerios on a daily basis. I'd eat Special K if it were ever in my house, but unfortunately, it's not. Great way to kick of (and, sometimes, also complete) any breakfast, in my opinion. -------------------- And though the musicians would die, the music would live on in the imaginations of all who heard it. -The Last Pendragon Polaris = joy. quote:Three bowls at a time with chocolate milk and a bunch of extra sugar, right? :D Though I somethimes like some of the more sugary cereals, such as Fruity Pebbles and Corn Puffs and such, I am hardly ever allowed to have them. So I'm usually eating Frosted Shredded Wheat or Honey Bunches of Oats or Life or something like that. The kinds with dried strawberries in them. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

At US$5 for a moderately sized box of sugary cereal, it gets more expensive for breakfast. It's a shame that sugar seems to be the prime motivator, as breakfast "in my day" was a big meal to get you ready for working for several hours. Sugar may contain the "pop" to get you on the school bus, but the crash happens as soon as your butt hits the board in school. Plus, all those chemicals aren't good for your body. *this message is not sponsored by general mills* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

My parents allowed me to have whatever when it comes to food. This caused me to get slowly tired of sugar cereals and now I seldom have them. My favorite is quaker sqaures for sure. -------------------- "Like most of life's problems, this one can be solved with bending" Posts: 287 | Registered: Tuesday, August 19 2003 07:00 |

When I have cereal for breakfast, I usually have Special K with Red Berries (or very occasionally, Cheerios). However, I never have cereal with milk, because I can't stand the taste of milk that has sugar in it, or the taste of soggy cereal... Instead, I have the cereal dry with a glass of milk on the side. -------------------- Chance Forums I was once member #2475, but then my account was deleted because of a bug. I like Post Shredded Wheat. It's very high in fiber, much more than Frosted Mini Wheats.
