I'm partial to Life, Cheerios, and Quaker Oatmeal Squares. The first is probably my favorite, the second my most common cereal, and the third the closest I've ever experienced to eating (very tasty) lead weights. I eat my cereal dry, too. I've never liked milk very much and cereal is nice with all its crunch intact. (Again, those Oatmeal Squares are impressive, though far inferior to Grape Nuts, which are neither grapes nor nuts but which closely resemble rocks.) Maybe I'll try some of that yogurt with my cereal instead of milk, though. —Alorael, who eats cereal for breakfast, frequently has some as part of his lunch, and who cheerfully consumes more than he probably should after dinner. His cereal expenses and caloric intake are probably frightening. In fact, he could reasonably classify cereal as a second addiction. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

You haven't included Corn Pops in your poll? Heathen. Corn Pops is about the only cereal I don't get sick of after several days, and as such I'll usually go for it over any other variety. There are other cereals I enjoy from time to time, such as Graham Chex, Cheerios, and Apple Jacks. However, I haven't had any of those for ages. In actuality, I only get a chance to eat Corn Pops once in a while. Ordinarily I just get up too late to eat any sort of breakfast, and skip straight to lunch. In terms of my ideal breakfast food, it'd have to be a freshly-fried hash brown patty. I've loved Frosted Flakes ever since I was a kid, but usually we don't have time to sit there and eat cereal - I just drink a glass of water, grab a bun and eat it on the way downtown, to campus. And on the weekends when I actually do have time, I prefer to munch on the stuff my dad makes anyway. -------------------- Polaris - Weather balloons, ninjas, and your big daddy Wise Man. 1st day observations: Oddly enough, though only 2 people selected 'none of the above' for their favorite kind of cereal, 10 people selected 'none of the above' for the kind of cereal they ate most often, an overwhelming majority. Hmm, creepy. I go with the off-brand stuff. Toasted Oats easily beat Cheerios; Crisp Rice trounces Rice Krispies; and Fruit Rounds run circles around Froot Loops. -------------------- Fo shizzle, my lord. Two goldfish are in a tank. My parents always allowed me to have whatever I wanted when it came to food. I hate vegetables and weirdly enough I got away with not eating any, which is a lot to say in my family. My parents were mostly strict about my curfew and stuff, but they never bothered me with food, school, or friends. My fav breakfast is heated-up pizza, don't know why though but I just love it. My favorite cereal is Life, it is also what I eat most often. Does anybody eat those cereal bars? I tried a Wheetos one today (it came free with some Wheetos), and it tasted awful. Somehow they managed to solidify milk, and lump it on the bottom of a pile of Wheetos. I had one bite and threw it away. I didn't get to eat sugar cereals growing up either. At the time I thought that was unusual, but it seems to be fairly common. I was allowed to have candy-like things (like Fruit Rollups, Pepsi, cookie…), but not for breakfast. I've never tried the cereal bars; the concept of solidified milk that never sours seems off to me, as does cereal that doesn't get stale. -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

Why has Nutri Grain been missed out? That's the only one I eat nowadays, since I ran out of Kraft's crunchy peanut butter with no added salt. Does anybody know what happened to it? No shops stock it anymore. Posts: 587 | Registered: Tuesday, April 1 2003 08:00 |

quote:I was a little surprised when I didn't see Corn Pops in there as well. I frequently eat them whenever I'm hungry and too lazy to eat anything that requires preparation. Besides, I can't prepare anything besides toast; I fear setting the house on fire. Well, actually, I can use a microwave oven, but I try to limit my microwave usage, and am not too fond of microwavable food anyway. Oh, and hats off to Alo for enjoying Grape Nuts. It's actually one of my favorites, most likely because of all the carbs. I love carb-rich food. Take away my bread and you take part of my soul. Also, my ideal brekkie (I used Aussie slang :D ) consists of six fresh, glazed doughnuts from Krispy Kreme along with some cold milk. Those things are worse than a bucket of pure lard in terms of what they do to one's body, but that's why they taste so great. To add even more pain to my body, if I have some left over the next day, I'll microwave them to get the oil and sugar all good again. I'm almost certain they stick illegal substances in the batter. Any Spidwebber who can't find a Krispy Kreme somewhere is missing out on a wonder of the capitalist world. The biggest thing I miss about Boston is the multitude of Dunkin Donuts stores. Iced coffee with milk and sugar. Yes, a large. Better make that two. I do miss the days (yes, I remember them) when they made the donuts in each store. That was fun. The closest one to me is 90 minutes away, and I never seem to want coffee when I drive past it. Also, I rarely drive past it. And you're right, KK is all hype. *this message sponsored by coffee* Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

I'm actually not a huge Grape Nut lover. I meant to say that they're more than Oatmeal Squares in that they resemble rocks, not in that they are delicious. They're good, and I liked them a lot more a few years ago, but when I need to refill my crop now I just swallow pebbles. Sorry to let you down. Cereal bars' "milk" is better described as icing, and they most definitely go stale. Some of them are horrendous, some of them are good, but none of them are as good as plain old cereal except for convenience. —Alorael, who has yet to find a cereal with the necessary innate adhesive properties. Okay, he actually has found such cereals, but they weren't anything he cared to eat. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Darn. First KK is bashed for being hyped up, which is understandable, but still irritating, since I think Dukin' Donuts fails to live up to its own hype (fresh doughnuts and coffee? Ha. Fresh my behind; they sell stale doughnuts whenever I eat there in the morning, when they ought to be fresh. And the coffee? eh. I'd rather brew my own at home if I really needed some.). However, then Alo lets me down with the Grape Nuts. My opinions about food are simply getting smashed here. ::laughs:: At any rate, I do enjoy cereal bars as well, and stale ones are very bad. Has anyone eaten/seen a cereal lately called Honey Nut Clusters? I know it was produced by General Mills some years ago and was essentially Honey Bunches of Oats with no flakes. I'm not sure if it is still manufactured. And can anyone stand bran cereals with those "fiber twigs" in them? Those taste like cardboard and sand to me, and are the only cereals I won't stand to eat (or sit, or lie down, for that matter). -------------------- Wu wei... it's the only way Posts: 154 | Registered: Monday, June 20 2005 07:00 |

I don't possess much of a sweet tooth, and as such I don't touch donuts at all. I'm far more susceptible to the charms of salty, greasy snacks, such as the aforementioned hash-brown patty. No fried potato product is truly safe around me. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Reasoning is destroyed when the mind is bewildered. Slp, I'm not sure what you mean by "fiber twigs". I used to really like donuts, especially the fluffy glazed ones dipped in milk. I liked Dunkin Donuts better than KK, but there wasn't a KK anywhere near here before about three years ago. They made a really big deal about it when the KK was being built (commercials, coupons, everyone was very excited), but than when it finally opened they were like any other donut, to me. Since pizza was mentioned: Pizza Hut is better than Dominos. There is only one traditional style pizza place near here, and they don't deliver. They have the best pizza I've ever had, but when I was hungry and joyous from Skribbane I was unable to get that pizza.
