Just because people want to pass a "law" that forbids fights and swearing doesn't mean it'll ever happen. We've outlawed weapons, drugs, and all sorts of things, but people still have them. -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Posts: 1287 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

Oh, not too much. Y'know, the whole several relatives and friends being there doesn't really bother me at all. The whole 9/11 thing didn't really bother me either, I mean it's not like it'll ever happen again. Right? -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! I love Nethergate music, personally. But maybe Avernum 5's will blow me away. Too bad I don't have a Mac... *twitches* -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Posts: 1287 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

I've found Razordisks to work much more effectively than Javelins. Of course, they're not readily available in all games, but I abused them to no end in Exile 2. I liked how you could recover missed javelins in Nethergate, kudos for Jeff for adding that in. -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! While most people would gladly hack off several limbs to earn a custom title, "Canned" is not usually one that is wanted. Now, I make as little sense as the next guy, but you're just sounding foolish here. Of course the mods will lock topics that are spammy and/or pointless, they've been given their powers for a reason. Shall I say, in before the lock? -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Posts: 1287 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

I haven't played Avernum 5 yet, since I don't own a Mac, but I think I can put a good guess on what it'll be about. B) To me, Nethergate was "refreshing". Don't get me wrong, I love Avernum, but Nethergate was a completely new game with the same exploration/battle engine that I love. Instead of playing as pale exiles from the surface, I was able to play as frenzied barbarians who quirkily refused to wear armor, as "Celts don't wear armor!", or I could play as disciplined soldiers who had the finest military training in the land. Overall, though, I'd have to say Avernum. While Nethergate is a great game to play while waiting for the next installments, it's too short for my tastes. The plot isn't as long and twisted as Avernum's, and there aren't as many rare artifacts and goodies you can arm your party with. I wish that Avernum would have woad, though. -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Posts: 1287 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

Erm, does SpidWeb have one of those "verification" steps in the sign up? The thing about the random image letters that you have to type down, to make sure no bots can sign up. Most forums I've been to have those, and I haven't seen many bots on them. -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Posts: 1287 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

I dunno, Alo. I'd like to see Rentar get what's coming, she's been alive far too long for my tastes. Or maybe we killed her off by now. I'm not sure, I haven't played Avernum 4 in a very long time, and I don't own a Mac for A5. -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Posts: 1287 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

I remember when I joined the Exile Board was beautifully active. Oh, how I miss those days.. =( Then I wrote a crappy novel about an "adventure", which was thoroughly uncreative, and since I was in 7th grade, the grammar was atrocious. Good times.. -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Posts: 1287 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

If you knew me before, you'd know my obsession with Black Halberds. It is a single Halberd in Exile/Avernum III, which I cloned to no end. I tried forcing my characters to wield them one handed, but I unfortunately failed. (I think some mention of that was put in Dikiyoba's hilarious narration) Fear the power! -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Posts: 1287 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

I'd love to see Warcraft or Starcraft be turned into a movie. They're both perfectly acceptable, and wouldn't be too difficult to turn into a movie. Let's start with Starcraft. Let's see. We've got humans (actors), Zergs (CGI?), and Protoss (humans + special effects?). Storyline would be easy enough to portray, Jim Raynor and Kerrigan, yadda yadda. Nothing too unrealistic, guns and lasers, and all that whatnot. Warcraft might be a bit harder, as the "plot" is a bit shaky. If producers could find a way to accurately portray whatever the plot is, I don't know, I never played the campaign, I can see it becoming very successful. I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard is already working on movies. They're raking in millions from WoW alone, and with the sequel to Starcraft coming out, they'll have an enormous flow of cash coming into their coffers. Why not try a movie? -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Posts: 1287 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

It depends what type of person you are. Both are fantastic RPGs with an incredibly creative storyline and plot, but there's a few differences you'll come across. In Avernum you always control four party members (Unless, of course, someone died) while in Geneforge you control at least one, and to a maximum eight. While the creations you can control in Geneforge aren't always as useful as having another customizable character buffed up with armor and weapons, there's always something so be said for strength in numbers. Another good bonus is that in Geneforge if Beastie 1 dies, you can simply make another one. In Avernum, if Theodoric dies, you have to go back to the healer and get him a rez. Overall, I think I like Avernum better. I was a bit miffed I couldn't give Beasties 1-8 any weapons; I dreadfully resented not being able to share my Black Halberds with them. -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! I'm no good with album names. Since I download most of my music as individual tracks, I can't tell what album it's on. Only one I really recognized was the Lonely Hearts Club Band by the Beatles, since I watched their acid-trip DVD. edit: Fixed. Sorry about that. >< [ Thursday, January 03, 2008 05:19: Message edited by: Toenail Returns ] -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Jeff tosses the "undefeatable" label out a bit too much, methinks. Characters that don't have the "you attack you die" node on them are usually easily taken out. Erika was simple, especially since her Doomguards didn't move. Rentar I had a bit of trouble with, but I recall that I whittled away her health while gulping down healing potions and she eventually gave in. I killed a bunch of dragons, except for Mortrax. I loved that old boy.. -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Posts: 1287 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

I remember both of you, Frozen Feet and Thranli. Good to see that there are still some familiar faces around here. I wouldn't be surprised if Alo cheated death, seems like something in of his character.
