No, some of us aren't bots, so I estimate at about 10000. -------------------- I dub thee... Posts: 1384 | Registered: Tuesday, February 6 2007 08:00 |

Unfortunately, the number of bots has been increasing at a near exponential rate. Hopefully someone will place prevention measures to keep the bots out. However, most of the bots never post. -------------------- I dub thee... Posts: 1384 | Registered: Tuesday, February 6 2007 08:00 |

Erm, does SpidWeb have one of those "verification" steps in the sign up? The thing about the random image letters that you have to type down, to make sure no bots can sign up. Most forums I've been to have those, and I haven't seen many bots on them. -------------------- And everybody say....Yatta! Posts: 1287 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

But the fact that they are registering takes up space. I think someone should put up bot protection and delete all the bot accounts. Most bots list their occupation as "human" or "porn." Favorite Spidweb game and real name are almost always listed as their user name. Their location, e-mail, and interests are always random. -------------------- I dub thee... Posts: 1384 | Registered: Tuesday, February 6 2007 08:00 |

Hey, folks... in the future, it'd be nice if you would refrain from linking to all those lovely, inappropriate and CoC-breaking bots. They're annoying, but that doesn't mean that they deserve any attention. -------------------- TM: "I want BoA to grow. Evolve where the food ladder has rungs to be reached." Only mods are allowed to link to them and only in the privacy of the Moderator Board to draw attention to them for the admins. They get around to doing bulk deletions. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

Er deletions? SW can't even spell that word. They even refuse to delete things and more often then not turn all snooty and make a joke out of your request. -------------------- "Fear that which mortality has rejected" -Galvin Magnus Posts: 942 | Registered: Sunday, October 8 2006 07:00 |

Jeran, both Ephesos and Randomizer are moderators, they do know what they're talking about. And both of these bots have been deleted, so you're wrong in any case. -------------------- Espresso - as close as you're going to get to an intravenous caffeine shot. Geneforge 4 stuff. Actually to save time, most bots are just blocked so they can't post, but you don't see the effect in their profiles. Considering the number that swarm in every week getting rid of most of them without upsetting the UBB is the best for now. There have been requests for the more interesting member numbers getting recycled. A bit soiled, but usable. Posts: 4643 | Registered: Friday, February 10 2006 08:00 |

The first rule of bots is don't talk about bots. As long as they're not posting, our wonderful admins are on top of things and we don't need to spam for them. —Alorael, who also feels a little bit threatened every time his brother and sister bots receive the hatred of the masses. Can we just lock this thread already? Talking about every single bot that pops up, none of which actually post a single thing, is a complete waste of space, and is borderline spam. Seriously. -------------------- "I'm happy I'm the mentally disturbed person I am." -Nioca "Yes, Iffy is a demon." -Iffy The Two Universal Truthes: "All I know is that I know nothing" -Socrates "I think, therefore I am." -René Descartes Posts: 1186 | Registered: Friday, June 18 2004 07:00 |
