Human cloning in General

In theory, a loved one never dies as the clone of the deceased family member retains all physical and mental attributes (but people say it doesn't feel like the "same person")

Clones are only genetic copies, and since things that happened to the original, which impact who the person is as much as genetics cannot be completely reproduced, the clone would only be as similar to the original as an identical twin.

If too many clones were made, wouldn't the earth be overpopulated with people?

I don't see this ever becoming a problem unless cloning rates begin to come close to the rates of normal reproduction, which I think is very unlikely.

Some people believe on the "evil twin factor" that if you were cloned, the clone would attempt to kill you to become the "permanent person".

This is also unlikely, as clones would have no reason to do this unless they were not legally human, or they percieved that the original had a better life and they thought they could get away with stealing it. For the latter to happen, the clone would have to be unusually amoral, and there's nothing to suggest that clones would be any more amoral than non clones.

Some people find it morally offensive to clone humans because everyone was meant to live one life, unless certain religions state otherwise. (I do not know if the afterlife exists or not)

Cloning would not actually be giving someone another life, since the clone is not the same person, merely a genetic duplicate. If human cloning actually gave people a second life they probably wouldn't be able to outlaw it for as long as they have.

I realise I have said things against both the pros and cons, but both sides had flaws that needed to be pointed out. I myself am against human cloning. I doubt anyone could have a very good life if thier reason for existence was to replace someone, and if they were created for thier organs, that would be even worse.

Edit: It seems many of the points I made were already mentioned while I was writing this.

A google image search for ferret reveals Ben's image to be a failed attempt to make a ferret.
I think this image fits this topic much better

The only similarities between ferrets and small Nephils is that they are both furry and occasionally violent.

I must point out that unless I have gone completely insane and am reading things that aren't really there, you were indeed talking about giving scribbane to ferrets. Just look at Alorael and Stughalf's last posts on page two of this topic.

Scribbane may have no effects on ferrets at all. Unless there have been experiments with scribbane I don't know of, the only species scribbbane has been proven to effect are humans, nephilim, and sliths. Ferrets are significantly different from those three species that it would not be wise to assume that scribbane has the same effect on them as humans without first testing it.

Spiderweb Software games... On handhelds? in General

Most likely what is going on here is qonmp has come here from the emuboards, which is the forum for a Zodiac website, by following a link in a topic about the possibility of getting spiderweb games on the Zodiac. He must have decided to advertise the Zodiac here to see if that might make someone decide to port Spiderweb games to the Zodiac.

Yay! Someone here that likes the Zodiac besides me! Did you find these forums from this topic? I must warn you, advertising is against the rules here, and your posts about the Zodiac seem like advertising to me, and bringing up dead topics is frowned upon. Also, there will be no Zodiac3, as Tapwave is indeed going to OEM.

Some of my favorite (non Spiderweb) RPGs are probably the Taskmaker games, Ultima, Realmz, and Cythera, not particularly in that order. I have no game consoles or compters that run windows, so I have'nt had access to many good RPGs.

I first found the forum when I came here to ask if there was something hidden in a particular area in Geneforge that I hadn't found yet. However, I left after I learned the answer to my question, although I did look at general, the only non game-related topic I noticed/read was a debate on the tsunami. I don't like debates, so because I noticed that topic and not another, I didn't stay. Months later, I checked out the forum again while I was bored, either when I was looking at everything at spiderwebsoftware.com, or because I remembered that this place has more to it than people asking for help about games.

.A barrel of rainwater weighs twenty pounds.
What must you add to make it weigh fifteen?
a hole

A box beneath a tree
Inside some tasty meat
Kept for a month or more
It still tastes just as sweet
a nut

All across the countryside to front doors he travels
But you never invite him in
a salesman?

Answers its caller without being asked
Responds within seconds and speaks all languages with equal ease
an echo

Black when bought
Red when used
Grey when thrown away
charcoal

Bloodless and boneless it travels about
Yet it never leaves home
a snail

Has a tongue
But never talks
Has no legs
But sometimes walks
a shoe

He got it in the woods and brought it home in his hand because he couldn't
find it
The more he looked for it the more he felt it
When he finally found it he threw it away
a splinter

Holes at the top
Holes at the bottom
Holes in the middle
But still it holds water
a sponge

It can pierce the best armor
And make swords crumble with a rub
Yet for all its power
It can't harm a club
rust

This odd thing seems to get wetter
The more it dries
a towel

This sparkling globe can float on water and weighs not more than a feather
Yet despite its weight ten giants could never pick it up
a bubble

Twins on either side of a ridge that smells
They shall never see each other directly
eyes

We travel much yet prisoners are
And close confined to boot
Yet with any horse we will keep pace
And always go on foot
shoes?

My favorite mood is insane. Not real insane (that's probably not too fun), but Spiderweb insane. Spiderweb insane isn't really insanity at all, just bizarreness.(at least, Spiderweb insanity isn't full insanity for most of us.)

Edit: The page I linked to is down right now. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Since I could not find obscenities or spamming in TM's posts after he was canned, I suspect his ban might be a conspiracy ... to keep TM away from the elections.

The CoC says that abbreviated obsceneties aren't allowed, and TM used those rather often, despite bieng warned. However, I'm all for conspiracies to keep TM out of the election. Fortunately, Drakey would probably not appoint someone who's been canned and banned as moderator, no matter who they are.

Moving libraries to the internet probably won't work so well, unless they make the eBooks in a format that cannot be copied and deletes itself after a certain time period, since eBooks can't be controlled as well as paper books. However, there are already several good free eBook websites that have many good books. My favorite is http://www.memoware.com/ .

I'm pretty sure the US has a communist party, and it's legal, because a while back some newspaper interviewed them about the presidential election(they supported Kerry, mainly because he was Bush's only real opposition). If Communism was illegal, they would probably be in jail, not getting interviewed, and if they were evading arrest through secrecy, they wouldn't be getting interviewed, since bieng interviewed generally isn't something someone does when they're trying to be secretive. Also, I checked google and it turns out that they have a website, and it's big enough that if Communism was illegal, they could use it to track them down.
