Would anyone be interested in having the diagrams for the origami vahnatai? I might be able to make some, but I've never diagrammed my origami before, and I don't want to do so if no one is interested. -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

If we're lucky, the movement system will remain more or less the same as the old engine. I'll be okay with it, as long as it doesn't end up just bieng a Geneforge game with an Avernum plot. TGM is a former member of this forum who was and is a well known person in the community. He was permanently banned for posting goatse and then coming back before his ban was up. He is still active at Polaris, and may be active at Desperance. That's about all I know, since he was banned before I arrived. -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

I've been interested in origami since I was about five, but I wasn't able to make anything much more complex than a paper boat until I was about nine. Origami is pretty easy to learn, because there are so many origami books for beginners. I learned most of the basics of origami from Teach Yourself Origami by Robert Harbin, which is a very good book for learning origami. I also recommend Origami to Astonish and Amuse by Jeremy Shafer, which is a good book for both beginner and advanced origamists, and has some of the most interesting origami models I've ever seen. Birds are fairly easy to design, and the egg was half as easy, since I didn't have to design the lower half. It took me a half an hour at the most to actually make. Edit: I can't make anything with more than about four different limbs. There are many methods used by origami designers for making things, and I have yet to find out a good way to design unique models with large amounts of limbs. quote:Here it is, an origami egg. Since an egg by itself seemed too simple, I decided to make a chicken hatching from it. Also, here is a dragon I designed about a year ago. With this model, I was trying to see if I could make a traditional origami crane into a dragon. As you can see, I was successfull. Edit: Does anyone think these images are too big? If so, I'll resize them. [ Tuesday, August 23, 2005 08:36: Message edited by: Error ] -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

Dolphin's clawbug pic is art from the loading screen in one of the Geneforge games. I'm glad that my origami is liked, and I will try to upload more tomorrow. I am still taking requests, as long as you don't ask for anything with an excessive amount of limbs. -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

Here is the chicken. It is based on Akira Yoshizawa's pidgeon, although most elements of it's design are original. I would have got it up here sooner, but my digital camera wasn't working very well and it took a while for me to give up and just use my scanner. -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

A google image search says that the origami model has the right amount of legs for a scorpion, just look at this image. Edit: Fixed the link. Also, does anyone want me to try and make something else with origami? The worst thing about the English language is that it has a much bigger capacity for puns than other languages. However, I could be mistaken. -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

I don't listen to music often, and I don't prefer one type of music over all others, but at the time the memory card in my PDA has mostly Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith in it's music folder. -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

Mr. Icke definately wins. Lizard people ruling the world makes pretty much everything else seem boring. Second place would be the theory that the jets only contributed to the destruction of the WTC, and that explosives were what really knocked them down. -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

I also prefer origami to knitting, but I'll decline to make the clawbug since it has 159 steps and is easily the most complex origami model that I've seen. However, I did manage to design an origami vahnatai. -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

Welcome to Spiderweb! Whatever you do, don't make a topic asking which game is best (it's been done a million times), and don't ask if spiderweb games will ever get multiplayer or will become available on PDAs, mobile game systems, etc(the answer is no). -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

Acro/altophobia (fear of heights) Aichmophobia (fear of needles or pointed objects) Anuptaphobia (fear of staying single) Arachnophobia (fear of spiders) Catapedaphobia (fear of jumping from high and low places) Decidophobia (fear of making decisions) Ergophobia (fear of work) Hypengyophobia (fear of responsibility) My favorite wierd phobia is, aichmorhabdophobia : A fear of being beaten with a pointed stick. -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

quote:I read a book in which cloning complete humans for organs was done. They injected the clone at birth with a liquid that made it completely unintelligent, which was also how they justified taking the clones organs. Of course, I find that just about as immoral as taking organs from an intelligent clone. -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

Does anyone remember how a couple years ago a company claimed that they successfully cloned a human? I can't find anything about it on the internet, although it's not surprising seeing as this happened at least a year ago and I can't remember the details. -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |
