I'd start with Avernum. Although the graphics in Geneforge are more advanced, most people here agree that Avernum is a better game overall. (A good majority even prefer Exile, although it is a lot less advanced than the other games.) The engine in Avernum is actually better in my opinion, since the point and click movement style in Geneforge is seen by many to be awkward and ill-suited for the game. Avernum 1 is kind of difficult to start out with, so you might try Blades of Avernum first to get used to the strategy and gameplay. As for an instruction manuel, the ones built into the games work best. Classes are pretty self-explanitory.

You'll notice that while the White cult and the black cult are opposites they probably aren't complete opposites. After all, they're both cults, and that implies at least some similarity.

The same is true for me. Since I have a Mac, my computer can't handle games that aren't in multi-OS formats like flash. Since flash games are usually just arcade or puzzle games, I stick to non-internet games.

So the reverse universe hypothesis of Richard Black presupposes his existence, which, as can be seen by my first and second sentence, is untrue. Richard Black can only exist if nothing exists, which would immediately annihilate him. The resulting explosion would then flood the world with light, or "White", and restore the Cult order.

Absence of light does not indicate absence of existence. His universe could be devoid of visible light without also bieng devoid of matter. However, that is not even neccisary, as his universe isn't what is black, just him. He might absorb all light and reflect none, thus making him pitch black. He could even be devoid of light in the sense that none reaches him, making him appear bright because of the reflected light. And this is just assuming that black is his state of light, and not a synonym for dark, evil, bleak, or one of the many other things black can mean that are independant of light.

They can't coexist in a single universe, but might it be possible that there is some other universe where Black exists and White doesn't? In fact, there might even be a good number of such universes. This seems increasingly likely, especially since rumors already exist about Black, and the presence of a disciple (iGod).
So, if we accept the possibility of other universes where Black exists (possibly as a horribly inverted version of White, or an antimatter one) what would the consequences be? They would probably never go to the same universe, as that would destroy them both, and possibly the entire universe, although you can't ignore that as a possibility.(Perhaps there is a univese with two Blacks, and one would force the other into our universe. If the universe isn't destroyed, Black could rule it from his universe)
However, they would be able to send over other things to attack us, such as thier twisted version of needle/ferrets, and whatever other sinister weapons they employ.
There might be millions of universes with Black instead of White, just a few, one, or possibly even none, but if Black does exist somewhere, it would not be a good idea to be unprepared.

Edit: I was interrupted before I could finish.

I was talking to god on the internet, and I ended up asking about the White Cult.
quote:
Me:What do you think about the White Cult?
God:
The opposite of black Cult.
What is this black cult? Since they are the opposite of the White Cult, they must be against everything we stand for. Are they ruled by a Richard Black, who is unchanging and makes extremely popular software? We must find out more before this Richard Black and his followers decide to reveal themselves, and it is too late.

I know this is off-topic, but I didn't think it was worth creating an entirely new topic.

Is there a program for Mac OS that makes a movie out of what's on the screen, with what's coming from the speakers as audio, preferably as a MPEG 4 AVI or one of the many types of files that can be converted into it?

It doesn't seem to have any problems, but it's still missing a lot. It would help if we could see pictures of the page where you make posts and register new accounts, as that's where most boards have problems.

Also, your link isn't working anymore.

Do you mean where on the internet?

Probably nowhere, at least not legally, and illegal methods for downloading video are usually painfully slow. I'd stick to watching it on TV.

Do you mean we can do nothing besides things we were already capable of doing only with no negative consequences, or do you mean we can do anything with no negative consequences? If it's the first, I'd skip school, and if it's the second I'd go and buy Doom 2.

My real name is Anthony Brown. I'm 14 and in my first year of high school. I live in Minnesota, more specifically in a suburb of the Twin Cities. I'm interested in computers,(mainly Macs and the Tapwave Zodiac) and my hobbies are video games, drawing, and origami. On a slightly on topic note, I used to own a rooster when I was about 5, but it was killed by dogs.

Well that's what karma is, everyone's opinion. (Or at least that's what it's supposed to be; most users don't vote at all, or vote one star for everyone.) If it really bothers you, go to your profile and turn it off.

According to wikipedia, the thumbs are indeed fingers. However, since Wikipedia is not neccisarily accurate, I also checked dictionary.com.

One of the five digits of the hand, especially one other than the thumb.

According to this definition, the thumb is a finger, although the word finger can be used to describe digits other than the thumb.

other shareware rpg's in General

You should have asked this question in the existing RPG thread. You would probably get the same amount or more responses, and starting a thread when there's an active thread about pretty much the same thing is not a good thing to do here.

On topic, here my favorite non-Spiderweb, shareware RPGs listed from most fun to least.
All of these are for mac, except Realms, which also runs on windows.

1.Taskmaker and Tomb of The Taskmaker
(Technically this is freeware, since the company went bankrupt and released the passwords for free, but it was originally shareware and I think it deserves a mention)
2.Cythera
3.Realmz

Although these are fun (at least to me), there are no shareware RPGs that are quite as good as Spiderweb games.

Designing origami isn't nearly as complex as it seems, I've found that designing origami is sometimes easier then making other people's models. If there is anyone here who is interested in origami but hasn't designed anything, I suggest they read this essay.

Originally written by no chicken for sale here:
was it complicated to make? i wanna give it a go as well ;)
The chicken wasn't too complicated(except for the tail, but I might find a way to make that easier.), so you might be able to make it. If you can make an origami crane you could probably make the chicken. Currently there are no diagrams for the chicken, but I am thinking about making some, and if I do, I'll be sure to tell you.

Also, while we're on the topic of origami, you have to look at
this. I didn't design it, and I was unable to make it( I tried once, and gave up after about three weeks), but it's just too awesome to avoid mentioning during an origami thread.

I'm suprised that I didn't find any of those maps before. I guess the only new thing in my maps of Valorim is the lists of where to purchase things. However, I still haven't seen another map of Upper Avernum.

Yes, the map of northern Valorim is incomplete. I was unaware that there was already a map of Valorim, and I couldn't find one on Google. However, I seem to have the only Upper Avernum map available, or is there another one of those hiding somewhere as well?
