What is your favorite mood to be in? I know some people actually enjoy being angry or depressed because their creative thoughts become more coherent.

I have a feeling many people on here will answer "inebriated," just for the heck of it, but we'll see :P .

My favorite mood is "content." It's a balance of happiness and realism that I seem to be only able to keep for a very short stretch of time.

(Originally this was going to be a post about what everyone thought about high fructose corn syrup, but after my Cracker Jack post I would have been pushing the "innane" element of the General board too far.)

Happy - Not overly excited, but a bit more joyful than mellow. Though I've always enjoyed mellow, too.

Ambitious.

I tend to be either of pretty much four things: Enjoying a current moment, anticipating/planning/daydreaming of such a moment in the future, despairing over a very unpleasant moment, fearing such a moment in the future.

When I'm happy, I know it will go away at some point ('if to the moment I could say/linger thou now, thou art so fair', huh?). I actually like the anticipation to such a moment far better, because before something has begun I need not worry about it ending. That's why I like my ambitious phase best. I feel so productive then.

Bliss - after a few sodas and a long car trip, there is no better mood than the one that emptying the bladder puts me in.

But seriously, I think I'll have to go with nostalgic. Go through all the good memories you can come up with, one after another, and you'll see what I mean.

:P oops, when I saw the titel of this topic I read: "Pick a mod, any mod ..."

edit: to keep on topic: I continue to be amused about the world. If I wouldn't some things would have gotten me into depression long ago.

Nostalgia is pleasant at first, but it always depresses me for remembering all the things I could/should have done, and the moments of happiness that are gone now.

What would I like to be in? Ecstacy.

What am I usually in? A mix between slumbering depression and I-could-kill-you-and-I-wouldn't-flinch anger.

edited for accuracy.

Well, I'm usually in a depressed mood, but I think I'd like to be in a content/neutral mood. There is no point for me to be angry as that dulls my objectivity, and I'd rather be calm. Or something.

Hey! An old face! Or name, as the case may be.

—Alorael, who likes to be content. Why? Because it's contentedness. It's by definition the emotion that you are content to be in. Happiness is a close contender, though, because it's the mood you're always happy to be in.

Occupying my mind with anticipation for future merrymaking is a method I use frequently to counteract these moods.

Frustration is common among myselves, as well. Due in part to my incredible ability to not make decisions that require thinking over.

Hey, Andy! What brings you back? Couldn't stand to be away from us anymore?
I ask that you please direct yourself to the thread at the Lyceum in the BoE discussion forum about The Archive. We're missing some scenarios, and hopefully you have some of them. That is, if you have both the time and the inclination. This is a request, not a demand.

I like to be happy and content. I've been in such a mood for a month or two, but I will most likely end up depressed for several months again as a result of my disorder. Luckily, I recently discovered that listening to "cheer up" songs (especially while being someplace peaceful) can help me avert depression. Here's my "Cheer Up" playlist, so that other people who suffer from depression, bipolar disorder, etc. can listen to the songs and hopefully be helped by them:
Electric Light Orchestra - Hold On TightGeorge Harrison - All Things Must PassModest Mouse - Float OnRingo Starr w. Ozzy Osbourne - Vertical Man (this is my favorite from the list)The Beatles - BlackbirdThe Beatles - Here Comes The Sun (not a "cheer up song per se, but it helps me)The Beatles - Let It Be (the lyrics are "cheer up", but the song has a very subdued mood to it, so be careful with it if you don't know how it will affect your mood)The Rolling Stones - Mixed Emotions (seems to be about bipolar and similar mood swinginess specifically, rather than simple depression)Nobuo Uematsu - Airship (not really a "cheer up" song, as it's instrumental, but it helps me a lot. It's from the Final Fantasy XI soundtrack. The sound of the synthesizer reminds me of something from the old Sonic the Hedgehog games, actually.)I also want to add Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry, Be Happy to the list, but I don't have it yet. There's a plastic fish you can hang on your wall that sings that song and one other song. Big Mouth Billy Bass,I think he's called. He amuses me.
Once my mood is stabilized by listening to those songs, I listen to songs with generally cheery, upbeat moods, in addition to the songs from the "Cheer Up" playlist. The songs from the "Be Happy" playlist (not including those from "Cheer Up") are:
Dire Straits - Walk Of Life (most of their more popular songs seem to be pretty subdued and depressing, though, so be careful with them when you're depressed)Electric Light Orchestra - Mr. Blue SkyGeorge Harrison - Crackerbox Palace (note that "the lord" he refers to is himself, being the lord of the house. The song is a silly nonsense song about his house, I believe. If you're religious you can interpret it however you want though.)Nobuo Uematsu - Rufus' Welcoming Ceremony (from the Final Fantasy VII soundtrack)Queen - Don't Stop Me Now (corny lyrics though)The Beatles - Cry For A Shadow (cheery guitar solo, don't be fooled by the name)The Beatles - Getting BetterThe Rolling Stones - You Can't Always Get What You WantI've only gotten the chance to use this method once, but I think it might work again. Hopefully I won't need it again for a good long time though.
Can anyone else suggest any good "cheer up" type songs? I'd like to expand my collection.
I apologize for any incoherency or unnecessary rambling in this post. I get like this when it gets late.

I try to stay off these boards when I'm in one of those eye-twitching moods, so you get the happy/confused me.

But my favorite mood is the bliss brought about by complete physical exhaustion. You know, like after having to swim upstream several hundred miles.

I apologize for any incoherency or unnecessary rambling in this post. I get like this when it gets late.

First: gladly. I often use this method to combat my own inner-demons (but usually if I'm in a deep funk I'll listen to music that will get me in deeper so that I feel sorry for myself. It's quite saddening, really).

Group X - Johnny Poopoopants (It's completely innane, but it should make you laugh)

Monty Python - The Spam song - for anyone who frequents a message board. ;)

Monty Python - Every Sp**m is Sacred (To protect the kiddies, I feel I should censor this one. It's silly. The blurred out word is equivalent to the male gamete.

Bass Kittens - Zim Theme (Impending Doom Remix) - hilarious.

Coal Chamber - Sway - BE CAREFUL with this one. It's very angry, so if anger isn't a motivating force for you (which I'm guessing it isn't, with the bipolar-ness ans all), stay away from this one.

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (sp?) - Somewhere Over the Rainbow (pretty)

Sugar Ray - Someday - (yeah, it's poppy. So what?)

Marcy Playground - Poppies - another silly one.

Chambawumba - Tubthumping - It was inevitable, you know.

Fluke - Zion

Andy Hunter - Go

Lali Puna - Alienation (Alias Remix)

The Dust Brothers - Space Monkies - Another silly one.

Enya - (Anything by Enya on the album "Paint the Sky With Stars" is very nice)

Weezer - In the Garage (Nerds will relate to this one)

They Might Be Giants - Istanbul (yet another silly one)

Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies (upbeat Irish folk punk)

James Brown - I Got You (I Feel Good...dadadadadadadun...)

TM Revolution - Heart of Sword (This is the intro to Rurouni Kenshin (first season, I believe) in Japanese.

Arrogant Worms - I am Cow (silly again)

I've got more, but this post is long enough as it is. I also tend to ramble when sleepy.

My perennial setting is bad-ass. It's the only one I get set to for more than a few minutes at a shot. If my life were a movie George Thorogood would be doing the soundtrack; as it stands, I abide by having his music on hand whenever I need reminding of my purpose on earth.

I like being pumped for a big game of footy. Its a feeling you get right before the adrenalin kicks in, and I enjoy it very much. Other than that, I like a mild feeling of content, followed by a feeling of joyfullness.

My favorite mood is insane. Not real insane (that's probably not too fun), but Spiderweb insane. Spiderweb insane isn't really insanity at all, just bizarreness.(at least, Spiderweb insanity isn't full insanity for most of us.)

Edit: The page I linked to is down right now. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I know, but "swimming uphill" conjures the image of having a slanted surface of water, which is rather rare in the real world. That's why I wondered "What the hell?"
