I remember Mung, anyway.

And two things:

1) While the Join Us RP was a definite high point of Misc, we've had equally good RPs on General since (Balthazar and the Imperial Succession one, certainly).

2) There's nothing about Misc that we really want back that much. At least, I can't think of anything.

They do, however, take up space in the database, which IIRC was part of the problem.

Not very much, of course, but some.

I'm 17, live in Greater London, England. My parents had similar problems to yours with Internet buying. I persuaded them that the risk was practically nonexistant, but their sticking point was that if anything should happen, they could have been completely bankrupted.

Solution: we got a 'secondary' credit card with the absolute minimum credit limit (£200). If someone does somehow get hold of the number, we don't suddenly have to sell our house, but we can buy most stuff on it. Not that anyone has, and we've bought a couple Spidweb games as well as various other things from other sources.

G'bye Ruthie!

I'm genuinely sorry to see you go, and not just because it means one less oldbie prepared to post on the ET board (bringing the total down to, what, 4?)

Don't regret anything you'll do. Or something. Best wishes, anyway.

I don't follow sport-I didn't discover England had won the rugby world cup until almost three days after it happened, which probably comes close to a national record.

When I drink anything hot, it's hot water. Tea and coffee both do you more harm than good, and an apple or a jam sandwich is a better stimulant than a cup of either.

Not so. With Night Elves, for example, it is entirely possible to get the Sorceress the damage-everyone-on-the-screen spell within 10 minutes of play, and then she's literally capable of beating any army on her own. The undead guy who summons the Infernal is just as unstoppable, and the blizzard-casting human guy isn't far behind.

It wouldn't be so bad were there not random monsters lying around the level-as is, the more hero-oriented players can level up to their hearts' content.

Oh, don't challenge me to a game to prove me wrong. Almost anyone could probably beat me at War3 using any method, which would prove nothing.

Stughalf: Please change your name. It really confuses me to see Dave apparently agreeing with Alec. Oh, and there are nicer ways of getting your point across. Someone being generally silly and someone being wrong are two completely separate things, and claiming otherwise will win you no arguments.

Alec: Must you?

Ykwti: May I suggest that you set up your chatroom now, and see how it fares, rather than getting involved in an argument about whether it would work or not?

Oh, and even on dialup AIM or Trillian (or some Mac equivalent) is a very small download, and both run pretty fast. Try it before you bash it.

I'd be very interested in more details as to why you believe that.

And it all really boils down to whether you think God guided the whole process or not. If you don't, obviously you can come up with all kinds of authorial bias skewing the message conveyed, and pretty much prove that anything should be either put in or taken out. And if you don't believe God exists at all, obviously you'll only have one option there.

Guys, we really don't need to spam Spiderweb every time Polaris goes down. Why not get hold of Loggy over AIM (it's Logalot, surprisingly enough)? Chances are the problem will be being sorted anyway, and irrespective of your mentioning it here...

Well, obviously if you're going to assume the Bible is wrong, arguments based on the Bible don't make sense.

And you can argue the Bible's infallibility on other grounds than 'it says it is'. Like, say, the complete historical accuracy of any and all of the Bible's historical claims that have been verified either way so far, including claims that were ridiculed for years by 'serious archaeologists' as completely implausible and unfounded-including, although this will probably surprise most of you, King David's existence-there are only two or three pieces of non-Biblical evidence for his having ever lived, although all of those are pretty irrefutable.

Also, several prophecies that we know for certain were made before the events they refer to, have now been fulfilled. Sure, you could argue that modern-day Christians will read whatever they want into these prophecies to make them fit events, but things like Daniel's prophecy about the Roman Empire, which specifically mentions an eagle, seem to me fairly hard to fit to any other facts-almost as if it inspired by God, perhaps?

I'll go into more depth if you really want. Suffice to say I'm convinced, and I don't accept arguments like the one you mentioned.

A little thought for you: if people can get to heaven without the Christian faith, why did Jesus need to die? And if Jesus didn't need to die, why does almost everything in the Bible point to His death being the single most important event in history?

Your test RP only had 6 posts in it. The important thing is the two big missing forums. There were some very long posts in there...

Loggy, can you contact your host and see if they took backups? Even if it's just in the form of a database, the raw text from the most important parts can be copy-pasted in. I'll do it if you don't have the time...
