I have recently browsed through the BoA forum, only to find it overrun with needless abbreviations such as "lol".

I can't help but think of the 'ickle' children that come into these forums only to discover a mindless list of jumbled letters such as lol rofl, and so on.

I am not however against the use of IMO, as this is justified, by me, or any ther none annoying abbreviation.

Despite the fact I may have used one on occasion,(none that I remember), I am starting a movement entitled "Ending Needless and Dumb Abbreviations", or EDNA for short.

I shall shortly post a list of said abbreviations, and ask for volunteers to join my campaign, I thank you for your time.

Also, ETLA. Since FLA isn't.

We're all amazed but not amused
By all the things that you said you'd do.
You're much concerned but not involved by
Decisions that are made by you
But we are sick and tired of hearing your song,
Telling us how you are going to change right from wrong,
'Cause if you really want to hear our views,
You haven't done nothin'.

At least give us a hint: is it abbreviations, rearrangement of letters, or substitutions of letters?

*canned laughter*

HA HA! That's very witty Radiant.

I don't see what's wrong with abbreviations, unless you don't know what someones talking about when they use them. But commonly known ones like 'lol' are acceptable.

Also, I know it's completely irrelevant but I have caught MissingNo on pokemon yellow ( read about it here ) This...doesn't really bring me any further in my research (as to what MissingNo is), but the effects were kinda fun.

We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road or not. The chicken is either with us or it is against us. There is no middle ground here.

SupaNik, I join your club. Sometimes I have not the foggiest idea what people ar talking about. I completely lack that SMS-language knowledge.
Because I try to learn english on these boards, I would appreciate any translation of needless abbreviations. (Except LOL and WTF, that are not needless anymore, since used by myself ...)

Sorry to revive what MAY be a dead topic (I felt a pulse two hours ago), but I haven't been able to answer due to personal problems. I am glad that I now have one follower, and one that is not a silly little newbie such as myself. Thank you spy.there. EDNA was of course ironic, and I planned the whole thong out. I am still campaigning outside 10 Downing Street, but with Blair's uselessness, it's not gonna do much

Edit: I planned the whole THING out. With an I.

So what? Distance shouldn't matter... what does count is the millions of words we will save from being brutally cut up into poor 'ickle abbreviations.

Edit: I would like to thank spy.there for putting the "no abbreviations thing" in her post. See - this is just what we need! (No sarcasm meant)
