There happens to be a lot of people that aren't in the picture topic, that may inspire the use of pronouns anyways. In this case perhaps use a neuter pronoun, refering to people as 'it'or 'this'. These will always be wrong (with the exception of bots, though even these can have gender) and thus is the only way outside of personal knowlege to be certain of being wrong or right.

Is it just me, or are people calling multiple episodes the best?

In any case, I voted that the first was the best, and the other two were good.

As far as the global warming goes, I believe its fairly easy, and reasonable to agree that we aren't directly warming the earth with our energy production. The problem isn't with the heat produced, but with the chemical by products of industry, that is the 'green house gasses'. As was stated before, without the atmosphere the earth would be extremely cold, because it wouldn't retain much heat from the sun.

Hence if we alter the composition of the atmosphere, we alter the heat/radiation trapping properties, and can retain more or less of the incoming heat from the sun.

Another interesting factor in all this, is 'global shading'. According to some scientists the polutants that block some of the radiatory heat from entering are muting the effects of global warming. If/when those polutants stop being a factor, the effect of global warming would be intensified.

She could be a shade. Or a martyr for some cult. In fact, I would find it rather odd if her influence had faded entirely by A5. Just so long as she isn't still the prime motivator, she (or her memory) could have some place in the game without me finding it bad.

I'd wear a shirt with some of those stick figures too. I've never met anyone on these boards though. A spidweb convention has been talked about many times though, and unless everyone brought their computers to chat away with, it probably would be a failure.

I'm reading 'The Brothers Karamazov' for the second time, but in Russian this time. I'm not quite sure what it adds to read it in the original language, but reading books in a language sure seems to help me learn the grammar and vocab.

I've played, but didn't get immersed in it enough to believe my rating might not be fair.
In any case, for precedence, and to see how the score can be thoughtfully achieved, visit The Lyceum
Now for the rating:

The size, coding quality and lack of glitches, were big factors in the enjoyability. The game was professionally done. I thought the double layer of the cave 'surface' and then the 'warrens' beneath it, were a good idea, and could have seen wider implementation.

On the other hand, the plot wasn't immersive to me, the boss was the same boss as in III, as big as it was, it once more restricted the player from the outside, while not opening any new lands. It basically went back to the size of I, with some additions. The plot was fairly linear, without so many side paths that I remember which often is what made the game fun and immersive to me. It was extremely combat intensive, involving extensive slogs through pylons and brutal fortresses. Beyond all that, I still miss the Exile engine, so I'm rather biased.

All of this is just player preference though. On the things that aren't according to preference it was flawless.

I'll rate it a 7.5 (and that’s 3 out of 4 if you want simplicity).

Edit: Spelling

Oldbiehood in General

It seems that some people never become 'oldbies' or to follow Aran's description, elders of the family. Some might just be that reclusive uncle that still lives in Grannies attic, but pokes his head into family affairs sometimes, or the somewhat crazed cousin that everyone dislikes when he comes by, which isn't often... etc. They aren't respected oldbies but over a large period of time they are a stable part of the forums.

If someone had obviously been active for an extended period of time before I joined, I would consider them 'oldbies'. That tends to allow people in the # 2999 and less range.

This topic made me feel like using artistic license and spouting off some rather bad rubbish on the spot. Enjoy riding me off on a rail if you must, but don't expect the burden to be heavy.

Typical Posting Habits
Intertwined in beds of thought,
Our words, they lie, and take their pleasure.
From fertile womb, rise babbling minds,
Infantile, but gradually taught.

True to form, though formless they be,
Arrousing love, or hate,
Nurtured or laughed at by some,
Others respond with apathy.

This rather bad rhyme, left to those hands,
Will take its chance, and recieve its due,
Of rhyme there is little, and rythym less,
But this matters little, in Time's deep sands.

This could open doors to all kinds of creations and magical beings that are set loose upon the rest of the world and it is up to the Shapers (or Rebels) to defend us from their destruction. They could even be lead by Spectral beings....
I trust that there will be more adventures and conquests, and I will be ready to enlist!

Reminds me of Avernum. New, extremely powerful alien race, hmmm.

I haven't played G4 yet, but I think I'd be likely to agree with Stareye, something fresh would be nice.

I got Exile 1, perhaps 11 years ago, and then a significant number of years later rediscovered it, and lurked here a bit, and then some years later again decided I wanted to post a bit. Probably had a question or something, don't quite remember. I'm drawn back, time after time, though still rather generous intervals, by the amusment I find in reading these boards. Posting on them is a bit less satisfactory, because it often requires some thought to be sensible. Now.. back to lurking I go.

Welcome to the boards! And since I have the opportunity, I'll use it... and say, Please leave your sanity at the door, as the fluffy turtles will follow you inside if you don't. Since there aren't as many of them as of yore, invasions of fluffy turtles into places lacking the sanity required to feed them could be disatrous.

They don't really have any warrior that just drops by now and then, and posts when around. Since I don't qualify for Lurker, as I don't read everything, I'd call myself... Rottweiler Puppy, except for the fact that I'll never grow to Big Dog on these forums. So I guess that would make me fit 'Sporadic Lamer' the most.

The closest I see to an Ent on these boards might be Mysterious Man (Mystery Man? I'm forgetting the exact PDN, and don't feel like looking at Aran's member list) as he's been on the boards for a long time but doesn't post much.

Was recently reading... well I forget the name, but it had a somewhat interesting premise, that made it essential for aliens to abduct ancient Romans and to use them as troops against other primitive species. I'll probably edit this when I remember the title and author, but even though it made no lasting impression (hence the loss of recall on the name) it was somewhat enjoyable as light reading.

Pratchet is an excellent author, I find myself laughing to his books far too much, and far too loudly. This is probably a dumb comparison, but some of his characters remind me of Shakespearian characters, or at least the comic ones. I even enjoyed the picture book for Vime's son that got published.

Not sure what that was supposed to link too, whatever that page is, it is unfortunately not in any of the languages I know. It looks like Dutch or German?

Regardless, I realized that info on the book would likely be online, and it is quite obviously a sequel to the Knight of the Word series.

Is Armageddon's Children in the vein of a sequel to the Knight of the Word series? Or would it be more analogous to a prequel to the Shannara books?

Anywho, recently, I've read... ok I need to get to the library again sometime soon, school' been too busy though.

The Eragon books were something to waste your boredom hours on. I fear I don't even remember the plot now, it really didn't seem... unique in any real way. More like random pieces of random novels got thrown together in an attempt to make something new.

But if you wanted something good, I'd suggest Stackpole's Talion or as someone already said, any of the Fiest books. Haven't been doing much reading (or at least not of fiction, I don't think science textbooks count in 'sci-fi') lately though, so no up to date suggestions.

Homeland definitely has some of those very frustrating things described. For instance, if you kill something on top of a lever, you can only click on the body of whatever you killed, not the lever, quite possible ruining the entire game. It also had enough of a plot that it made it seem like it would be worth overcoming the difficulties of interface and combat. By the time you realize this is unlikely to be true, you've spent too much time playing, and don't want to waste it all by not finishing the demo. As you approach the last battle in the game/demo you kill a monster in the wrong spot and make the game unbeatable. Or you accidentally overwrite your only save file when your dog is somehow stuck on the other side of a bridge getting killed (which ends the game), and there's nothing you can do. It also has some of the auto camera stuff if I remember correctly. So yeah, Homeland is a fairly good nomination for this.
