If 2 members each desired the number of the other, they could trade. I think 42 would have been a cool number to get. I was so close too. How would I check to see who is member 42?

Edit: Appearantly it belongs to Kamakaski.

I beleive it was shortly after the release of A1. I found E3 (which is now my all-time favorite game) on a CD of games for windows. It was also my first experience with an RPG and I loved E3 so much I replayed it (as several custom parties, as a party of all sliths, all nephils, an Anama party, a mage party, a super-party, and various singletons) until I can visualize the layout of nearly all of the outdoors of valorim and many of the towns and know exactly how to complete almost every quest and side-quest. It kind of bordered on obsession for a while.

Through an odd series of events (part of which I was not even present for) I seemingly became commander of the ship. However, I now repeat feelings similar to those I have already expressed: This RP is, in fact, dead. It is seems to be being held together by a sheer effort of will by Sherlock and token efforts from the rest of us. I no longer wished to continue in this RP. This leaves us with 4 options: 1. we can just let the thing die. 2. Some one else can take control. 3. I can write a exciting action-filled ending. 4. I can write a brief anti-climatic ending.

What shall it be?

I don't have A3, but I do have E3. While they're not exactly next to Prazak, in Blackcrag fortress there is the powerful mage who teaches you lvl 7 spells named Petrie, a wizard named Shane, and the alchemist named Howar.

I agree with Kelandon that your story has good potential. My personal request would be more imagery and descriptive language. I, like many people, visualize things in my head as I read. I like to "see" the surrounding, "hear" the sounds, etc. It was a good story, but I think that you could further the enjoyability by lenthening your decriptions. (for a small example: "Three hours later the trio arrived to the small valley. There was an uninhabited canyon with a small pool in the middle." changed to something like "After three hours of hiking the rough, rocky mountain trails the trio arrived in the small, quiet valley. They could see a small brook flowing between the scattered trees and hear the light chattering of birds. In the distance, they could see the opening of an empty, shadowed canyon with a small pool bubbling in the middle.)

Alex's voice is heard over the intercom: "After a tragic mistake involving Zik's left shoe, we have discovered that you must make sure you have your weapons on the right setting!"

A few minutes later is heard: "Brace yourselves! We are now tunneling into the wall of the stomach!"

Alex also relays the message to Jonnie saying he should be prepared for some possible stomach pain.

OOC: Sorry it took me so long to reply. It seems in my absence that I have taken command of the ship! How amusing.

IC: Alex sits in the control room with Zik.

Alex: Now that we have been knocked off course we must have a change of plans. Let's burrow through the side of Jonnie's stomach to enter his bloodstream. We are so small that the wound won't cause any permanent damage although it might hurt. After passing through his heart we can travel on to the ear where we will make our exit.

Zik: Sounds good, but I still need to go to the bathroom.

Alex: Fine! I will keep us just floating around in the stomach while you go to the bathroom! And don't take forever!

Zik went off and Alex announced over the intercom that everyone was to come and pick up an anti-bear weapon. As he flew the ship in circles and tired to avoid incoming food Alex idly wondered what exactly the anti-bear weapons did.

In the tail end of the Empire war a young Avernite by the name of Alex was admitted to the Tower of Magi. A quick student with a sharp mind and great magical potential, he quickly rose to be a favorite in the Tower. It was commonly expected that he would become one of the great archmagi of the age. He attained the rank of wizard in near record time and was off studying astral projection with Aimee when the Tower of Magi disaster occurred during the Resurfacing.

Returning to find the Tower destroyed Alex acquired permission to travel to the surface. He found the then-untamed Valorim to be home to all kinds of exotic magical flora and fauna. The Faery folk especially fascinated him. During his extensive studies with and of them he disappeared.

Decades later, the plagues of Valorim long past, Alex emerged from the woods of Valorim seemingly un-aged. Rejoining society he rose to fame among the magical community. Many years passed and he eventually did come to be acclaimed as an archmage.

Then began the Rebellion. Not wanting to leave Valorim, but also unwilling to bring upon himself the wrath of the Empire, Alex founded a tower in the mountains of the north west of Valorim. He managed to gain an agreement of mutual protection with the dragons already living there and waited out the rebellion.

With the invention of the musket and various other machinery people began to look more towards science than magic. Magic users, always thought of as secretive and suspicious, began to fall upon hard times. Soon only the rich could afford magical training and for the most part magic among humans became relegated to backwoods shamans and a hobby for the wealthy. Alex became something of a recluse in his tower and slowly faded from living memory.

Then, Alex grew tired of his seclusion. For the last 20 years he had secretly been recruiting promising young (and not so young) people with magical talents and training them in his tower. Hearing of the upcoming race for power he decided the time was opportune to reintroduce magic as a force in the world. Using magic and a fledgling spy network to determine the most likely new candidates for Emperor Alex now sends out agents to ingratiate themselves and prepare the way for magic to be re-introduced to general populace.

OOC: Alex is not trying to become emperor. I wanted to participate without all the worries of being a major player. By fledgling spy network I mean that Alex knows little more than is common knowledge. As for scrying he can only watch one not-heavily-shielded location at a time so it is not particularly useful unless he manages to stumble onto a meeting. Alex has recruited only about a dozen people, who add up to 3 wizards, 6 mages, and 3 apprentices. While Alex himself is extremely powerful, he will not be personally intervening or even leaving his tower for that matter. Over the centuries many long-term investments and other things have left Alex very wealthy, but his seclusion has left him with no political power and he would probably be feared and extremely unpopular if he revealed himself at this time. As people introduce the Imperial candidates within their factions they will be approached by one of Alex?s agents.

On the "dumber entertainment for dumber people" thread; It can be argued that the continually lowering quality of entertainment is a major cause of the lowering of inteligence and standards in today's society. People watch the crap that comes out because it is there. By watching it they becaome used to it and even come to expect it. Hollywood sees that people are watching the crap so they make more of it and make it worse. Thus many of the movies, T.V. shows, etc. of today are part of an ugly little cycle of degeneration.

OOC: Since he had bumped into me, that must mean that Milla and a lot of toilet paper are also in this pile-up. I believe the list of people who were looking for me (and thus are in this tangled mess of people) includes: the skribbane addicts, Dr. Levy (the new arrival), Milla (and her TP), and Plah.

IC: Alex, disentangling himself and staggering to his feet, had just enough time to be confused as he received in quick succession demands for cleaning, medical aid, skribbane smoothies, and that he sign for a package before further tremors knocked him yet again to the floor.

Politely asking everyone to wait a moment and commenting that something simply had to be done about these hiccups, Alex ran to the nearest window and cast a hiccup-curing spell. A second later he was knocked agian to the floor by violent tremors.

Realizing that because he had been shrunk that the spell must be cast on a much larger scale to have any real effect, Alex gathered together a vast amount of power and as he began to cast was once more knocked to the floor. The spell twisted oddly as it flew out the window. The less magically attuned observers only saw the look of horror that came across Alex's face...

Alex was knocked to the floor as the MicroSpider was violently shaken with tremors.

Alex: Oh my! That felt distressingly like a hiccup!

Alex then quickly set off in search of a safe place to ride out the hiccups. Turning a corner, he managed to simultaneously collide with a number of people who, coincidentally, all happened to be looking for him. As they collectively attempt to disentangle themselves the MicroSpider is rocked by another series of tremors.

Alex cheerfully headed off to the control room with his tray full of smoothies, only stopping by the kitchen for a platter of what at casual inspection appeared to be chocolate chip cookies. Alex held out his tray for Zik to choose a smoothie.

Zik: I'll take that orange one and one of those cookies.

Alex: Sorry, but as the designated driver I am afaid I cannot allow you to have a cookie. Here's your smoothie though. And remember that is not to taken externally!

A bit confused Zik sipped at his smoothie and promptly began to glow bright orange and make small popping noises.

Zik: I feel strangely invigorated!

Alex: I would suggest drinking that one slowly as I am not quite sure what effect large dosages may have.

Alex then gave ADoS a cookie and went off to find his seat so that they could proceed to the sinuses.

quote:
Originally written by Alec, dareva, and Saunders:

Alec: In early 2003, I believe it was, I was playing Fallout. I had just cleansed Antium by holy fire when something popped. Real loud, inside the monitor, and the screen flickered out. Then it came back -- upside down, at half the normal width, in grayscale.
A split second later, I caught the most terrifying odor I've ever smelled in my life.
In a small room, illuminated by the hostile glare of a CRT that chose that moment to buy the farm loud, fast, and hard, I smelled roasting ham.

I was out as soon as it took to rip the surge protector out of the wall and run like hell. Days later, the monitor still smelled like ham. I imagine it still does, but have no way to check.

dareva: I am curious, yet horrified, about what caused the ham smell.

Saunders: Alec had been using the monitor to cook his morning bacon by irradiation for years. Unbeknown to him, a slice had fallen down one day into the dark recesses of the casing, and had mutated into a unique life form. As it began to explore its world, it accidentally shorted the power supply, causing havoc to the perpheral operation, and ending its brief existence in a blaze of ham smell.
For some reason I found this the most entertaining thing I have read in a very long time. This series of posts also manages to embody what I love about the Spidweb community.

Back on topic, I also like gasoline and various other chemical smells. Call it cliche, but I also love the scent of roses.

Alex, relieved to have any way to get away from the odd men, walked briskly over Milla and asked if she would like to come to the kitchen for some cookies and without waiting for an answer headed off in that direction until he came across some people staring out a window.

Alex: My goodness! What is that!!!

Wiseman: It's a booger.

Alex: Well! Some one needs to clean their nose more often!

And with that Alex proceeded to blast cleaning spells out the window.
