Yeah, lighting control would be nice. We were told that such a thing would be possible with scripting. EDIT: I'm faking numeric input with HLPM v1.0.3 (not yet released), so I withdraw that request. I'd still really like to see missile animations, though. From the old topic, set_year and approach_location would be nice, too, the former much more so than the latter. Back in Shakespeare's time, originality (as far as plot goes) wasn't nearly as important as it was today. I think Shakespeare gets credit for a masterful use of the English language rather than for really new, surprising stories. He stole virtually all of his plots from somewhere else, but he wrote them far better than anyone else ever could, which I think is how he got to be famous. He certainly relied on low-brow humor as much as high-brow humor, but by the time his later plays were on production, nobles and the monarch were coming to see his plays, so his audience didn't end up being puerile, even if that's how it started out. And Shakespeare's plays are of course best seen on stage. That's where they were meant to be. (Film, I think, is rather bad at handling Shakespeare. I've never seen a film rendition that was as good as any of the stage productions I've seen.) EDIT: I thought Dream was pretty funny, by the way. The call run_animation_sound is fine. I'm just guessing here, but do you need a space between the semi-colon and the comments? Like, beginstate 11; // Potion of Boom Which line is it saying is the problem? EDIT: The docs' description of a procedure error is especially unhelpful. Wow. Something went wrong trying to use this function. That's why the error is there. No kidding. That's helpful. I haven't tested this at all, but it seems like all you have to do is replace the line if (run_pick_lock(get_mechanism_difficulty) == FALSE) { withHowever, that doesn't take into account lockpicks, as far as I can tell. You may have to check for that manually with a char_has_item call, since I don't see a char_has_item_with_ability call or anything approaching that. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Beast Ceremony was utterly useless. I got the same effects (but for longer) by casting Bless and Haste manually. I experimented with it a few times, but I never found it worthwhile. Forcecage can be useful if you know when to use it. Sometimes I just need to get an enemy out of the way for a couple of turns. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. This is not intended as an insult, just a question: do you have difficulty understanding Shakespeare? At least ninety percent of the dislike of Shakespeare I've ever run into has been from people who can't get past the slightly archaic language. A small but noticeable few have a different gripe with it, so I'm just wondering which category you fall into. Ah, here we go. It was a custom terrain, but a default graphic. Sheet 744, icons 5-8. EDIT: Not sure why you didn't just do what I did: open VoDT, go to town 10, and look at the terrains there. Since it has custom terrains, go to the scenario's custom objects script, find the right terrain, and check the sheet number. EDIT 2: Wait, now I get it. You didn't realize that those were custom terrains, since they had the same editor icon as stairs. Righto. Because there are certain parts of reality that fundies would rather not admit exist. Fundies would rather have answers handed to them, so a new problem that hasn't been explicitly defined by the Bible/Koran/whatever is completely beyond their reach. Forgive me, but I've found that on these message boards, one must insult people to get them talking. -------------------- Kelandon's Pink and Pretty Page!! (The home of BoA's HLPM v1.1!) I haven't found a maximum yet. The HLPM will take you up to level 250, no sweat. If you're asking what levels people will end up at when they finish the pre-packaged scens, the answer is something like 40 (if you played them all once very thoroughly) or 50 (if you played ZKR and DWtD a few times each). -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. More importantly, they are 5-7-5 in JAPANESE, and Japanese syllables are much shorter than English syllables usually are. Haiku in English are often shorter than 5-7-5. I wasn't going to say anything, but since it came up.... Presumably in the Black Chasm of Doom, training would be turned off. The designer would hopefully have that much forethought. From a quick look through the scenario scripts, these are the people from whom you can buy skills: VoDT: none. ASR: Maya in Zaskiva and Derfler in Buzzard. ZKR: Vurg in Fort Goodling and a trainer in Morog's Castle. DWtD: Schmid in outdoor section 0,2 (which I think puts it in the center of the northern region somewhere, but don't quote me on that). RoR: Hana in Ashton. BS: none. ACoNR: none. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! I disagree. Hamlet is one of my favorite books of all time, and whenever I see any of his plays performed well -- in Ashland, Oregon, for instance -- I am absolutely blown away. Few other works do that to me -- Paradise Lost is one -- and no author that I've ever read was consistently at Shakespeare's level. Dr. Seuss is good, but I prefer Shel Silverstein. EDIT: Although the bit about him not being high culture is pretty true. His work is filled with entirely too many penis jokes and that sort of thing to be proper at a formal occasion. Terrain types 74-121 are slopes of various kinds. Westra's Cookbook has a pretty good description of this sort of thing, under "Hills and Heights." EDIT: Not sure if this is what you meant, though. 1. Um, maybe. 2. Good point. I will either add in a time lapse on the Healing Rune or make a full inn. 3. No. Just no. But I will change the situation for damaging audience members. Crimes in the HLPM are an auto-kill offense. I'll do something in order to make it impossible to hurt them accidentally, and if you attack them intentionally, you die. 4. I thought about this, but then I remembered that this depends purely on your Tool Use or Strength skills. You don't need to unlock a door in order to know that your Tool Use is 11. This really doesn't seem necessary. 5. Interesting thought. I suppose I could separate out the two. This would mean that the HLPM would be becoming more than just a HLPM, but also a general utility. Not a bad thing. 6. Hints on combat? As if I know any. It seems like it would kind of be cool to have a library, though, so I'll see if I can come up with something. 7. I don't think this is possible. If you start a scenario, drop items, and then leave the scenario, the items won't be there when you start the scenario a second time. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens.
