quote:I think this is a good idea. You should probably do Blades last if you do them at all, because one can always make a small utility to modify a party in whatever way one might like for BoE or BoA. To the best of my knowledge, all that the shrine in Gnass does is remove bad effects. I had no idea it would take away a Dread Curse, but that sounds plausible. It also has a Divine Restoration-type effect of raising one's health past the maximum level. As far as I can tell, it has no significant positive effects, though, nothing that you would have missed. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Ah, yes. I forgot to mention that it happens (weirdly) in 2D mode, too. I saw the location of the unwanted terrain be two squares northwest, but I didn't play around with it to see if it would change at all. I'm just going back to 0.12b1, and it seems to be fine. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Well, he said he'd make a significantly improved engine for A4. My suspicion is that since he will make a new engine for A4, and since that will sell well, he'll use that same engine for an A5 and A6. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I am rather fond of Anaximander, although mostly, I admit, because of his hidden dialogue in the game's resource strings. I've never understood why people's favorite is Rentar-Ihrno. She is quite popular, but other than that she has greater magical power than just about anyone else in the world, I don't understand what makes her exceptional in the slightest. She is rather one-dimensional, personality-wise. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I'm tempted to go back to the "Just Call Me Kel" PDN, for this very reason. :P [ Tuesday, October 19, 2004 13:37: Message edited by: Kelandon ] -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Sorry, I may just have misread you. Did you mean that you have different scripts for each cart or just one custom script that works for every cart? It sounds like the latter, in which case you can ignore my comment. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. The next game will be Geneforge 3. After that will apparently be Avernum 4. And presumably after that will be Blades of Geneforge (hopefully under a slightly better name). After that, I predict an Avernum 5, but who knows. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. quote:Might I suggest memory cells usage? I haven't really followed what you're doing, but if you have ten or fewer coordinates that you're feeding each script, you only have to write one. EDIT: And a quick skim shows me that you're already using some memory cells, although not, as far as I can tell, very many. Eh. Well, Erika's an obvious choice. I chose Patrick because I like that his tower is a center for magical (and quasi-scientific) inquiry. Of all the Exiles, though — or Avernites, really, seeing as how I never played the Exile Trilogy — I like Rita (the researcher in Patrick's Tower), Elspeth (of Cotra in A1 and I forget where in A2), and, well, can't think of others right now, but a few others. Probably at least one in Dharmon (head priest of that temple, maybe) and one in the Formello region, a smith up in that fort, maybe. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. TM, what about Bruce Mitchell? I think he's played more BoE scenarios than BainIhrno (although not by many). I marked down that I had "beaten" BoE, but by that I meant only the pre-packaged. I have played entirely too few real scenarios. I have beaten A1-3, GF1-2, and NG, though. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Supposedly the game eventually will delete items with the property it_junk_item set to 1. I've never seen it happen, but the BoA Docs read: "it_junk_item (Defaults to 0) - If 1, the item is useless. The game is free to delete it if there are too many items in an area." -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens.
