As I've menntioned before, my favorite ending was unaligned, when I killed every leader of every faction (the three drayks, Barzahl, Zakary, and Learned Pinner), destroyed both research centers (the Magus Complex and the Radiant College), and destroyed the Geneforge. Oh, and I killed Stanis to avenge Shanti, too. I basically killed and destroyed everything. I think I called that save file, "Obliteration." :P -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Wikipedia on Hades mentions, "In Roman mythology, an entrance to the underworld located at Avernus, a crater near Cumae, was the route Aeneas used to descend to the Underworld. By synecdoche, 'Avernus' could be substituted for the underworld as a whole." In fact, Avernus is so significant that it gets an entire page devoted to it. That's pretty neato. I didn't know that. I thought Jeff just made up the bit about it being a name for the underworld. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. That Jeff wait until he's done releasing GFs before he releases BoG. That is, I don't want to see a GF4 come after a BoG, because that would just be annoying. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. DAMMIT I figured out the problem. The new wallset doesn't have windows, which I used with the old wallset. Open the scenario in the editor and change wall 2 sheet from 607 to 603, and it should be fine. Sorry about that, guys. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! Gah. I did a quick once-over right before releasing this version, but I guess I need to look more closely, because I've never BoA crash on a Mac before (except one or two really odd situations that don't seem related). If anyone can get this to happen consistently on a Mac, let me know how. I'll have time to look at this tomorrow, if not today. As this is a Windows error that does not occur on a Mac, and since no particular state seems to be to blame, and since Alint comes up with nothing too, I'm pretty sure the code is fine, unless someone can come up with a specific error. (The negative sound thing is a documented feature.) However, I did change the walls between the last version and this one. I changed wall 2 sheet to 607 (from 601) and the cliff sheet to 652 (from 651). I don't have any way to test this, but if changing one of those back fixes the problem, let me know. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. So I guess this tells us not only that GF3 is next and A4 is after that, but GF4 is after that, and then maybe something else, and then a GF5. I... suppose I'm not entirely opposed to this. He has not yet bequeathed GF to the community via a scenario editor, so making more games does not have the potential to conflict horribly. GF, with its scripting engine, does have the potential to be more varied than Exile or Avernum could have been with the same monsters. But... I don't know. I bought A3, GF2, and BoA all immediately after they came out. I might just wait a while before I get GF3. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Interesting. This is a Windows error that I might have some trouble tracking down, since I'm on a Mac. If anyone can figure out why it happens (that boat isn't a custom graphic or anything), please let me know. I'll try to check it on my own, too. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! Easy enough to fix. I trust this is not so dramatic a problem as to require an immediate fix, so I'll release a fixed version when Bahssikava comes out so as not to make you download and re-download again in a couple of weeks. If you want to fix your own version before then, you can change the four award_party_xp calls at the end of state 12. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Well, I meant realistically, on the field of combat. Add another limitation: I'm pretty sure that the rest of the world post-1852 acquired that technology. I read somewhere that Japanese Tokugawa-era swords are probably the only swords ever made that could actually behead a man with a single blow (with a powerful enough strike, of course). All those movies that you see with a sword slicing someone's head clean off are, well, exaggerating. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Thanks, Thuryl. With regard to 3, I'm leaning towards deleting the third puzzle entirely. Okay, so far I've gotten full reports from TM, Toast, and Thuryl, and a partial report from Boots. If anyone else has anything, send me an e-mail in the next few hours, because I'm finishing up tonight and tomorrow morning. EDIT: Well, I'm going to sleep. Tomorrow morning I'll send out the next version to a much broader group of testers. The apostrophe has many uses, but Nasarius is referring to the fact that one makes a plural noun by adding simple "s" or "es" as necessary. The apostrophe never comes into play, with one exception: letters (or more generally, characters). The plural of A is A's, but that is the only instance when it is proper to use an apostrophe while making a plural. The apostrophe is also used for contractions ("it's" when you mean "it is") and possessives (Shuriken's post), and probably other things that I'm forgetting. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Capture Soul and Simulacrum were modified for BoA, sadly. They don't work at all the same way.
