I don't know where you would get an idea like this, but no, it's not, really. There have been a few hundred years of thought since him that have been spent supporting, refuting, and ignoring him. If there's one broad generalization one can make about the state of philosophy and moral thought, it's that there is no consensus, like, at all.

Whew, this topic is spiraling out of control, as I expected it would eventually. A few thoughts:

This is a hideously inaccurate understanding of Occam's Razor, and it is made no less inaccurate by its being common. Occam's Razor states, simply, that all other things being equal, the simplest explanation is usually the truest. It is a rule of thumb, not a law, and it applies to simplicity of explanation, not whether something is mundane or extraordinary.

I suppose it's worth pointing out that Hinduism is so completely decentralized that while this may be a general trend, it's hardly universally true.

If you mean that the terrain is all at the same level as the outside rim, then I don't think that's a bug. How would one edit the stuff outside the town? There's no data to store that.

It appears that I have the BoA and BoE poll result, and also May Day. I don't think I had others, but I'm not sure, since I organized mine by the page number that the topic was on (ie page 13 of General at the time), and I can't find much of anything without that information. I can zip the two that I have and send them to you, though.

If I'm not mistaken, it was FBM who saved page 13 of PPP1.

This was the list for PPP2, if it helps in tracking down who should have these things.

May I suggest that if you did not find what you were looking for on the main web site, you were not looking hard enough? You have a question about one of the games, so click on Our Games. Then, since you want to know about Avernum, click on Avernum. At that point, you have a question about a technical issue, so you are looking for support, so click on Upgrades & Support. Scroll down, and you will find this:

Please note if you have registered the game, this might unregister it. If your game becomes unregistered, contact us for a new key by calling 206.789.4438 or emailing spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com. There is no charge for this but please include the name you registered under, which game you need a new key for and your current registration code (located in the lower right hand corner of the title screen).
Note also that a quick search of this forum on "editor" will find you two other topics on the same thing.

Getting to Trajkov in Geneforge Series

Three things:

1. Don't revive topics uselessly. This topic revival was useless because the topic was intended only to answer one question by an individual user, and that question was answered a long time ago.

2. That canister is not, I believe, on the way to Trajkov from where he was. I only listed ones that were nearby.

3. Using more than one smiley in a row makes you look like an idiot.

A question about Skribbane in General

I was under the impression that one normally *eats* skribbane, and Alorael has developed technology that extracts the chemicals involved in a distilled form and drinks it.

After all, the unfortunates in Gale had bits of the plant on the sides of their mouths and on their collars, not some weird liquid drooling out of their mouths.

Dastal, if you continue to get weird errors like this, I'm going to suggest that you wait until the next version (likely to be the last beta, possibly the release) before you continue.

I'm hoping that everyone is progressing well in the scenario. I'd like to have your comments by the end of this weekend, if possible. I'll try to start serious work on fixing the remaining problems on Sunday.

Set a flag when you add the item, then check the flag. There's no way to check it directly (although that was on the request list for a hypothetical Scenario Format 3).

Oh, wait, in stock. No. Not at all.

I'm trying to figure out what's causing this, but I don't see anything in the southeast home in AB that immediately jumps out at me. I'll look further and edit this message, though.

EDIT: Nope, no clue. Does it happen when you move in any direction? Do you have an old save file that you can reload so that you can re-enter the town and see if it happens again?

For the umpteenth time, actual bug reports should be in e-mail form, not posted here, unless it's something that actually stops you from playing. I like having my comments all in one place (ie in my mailbox), because having to search over AIM chatlogs, old posts, and my e-mail is more tedious than just having to check e-mail.

At any rate, you should only get the hard zap if you're not in combat mode. You were warned to enter combat mode when you approached that area. If you're getting this zap while you're in combat, there's a bug and I would like to know exactly what you did to cause this. Otherwise, enter combat.

The thing about losing your HP when saving is completely bizarre, and unless others are experiencing it, I think it is unique to you and there's not much I can do about it.

I haven't been able to reproduce the special characters in Legare's speech in Gnass in the second cut scene, although I've heard reports. Can anyone tell me exactly when it occurs?

EDIT: And there are no white sliths in the entire scenario. The slith ghosts in the library in Ancient Bahssikava near the summoning altar are green, blue, or red. Where are you, and what on earth did you do?

I have no idea what you're talking about. Which dungeon? What "lighting" thing?

And why the hell are you beta testing with a maxed-out singleton? You're not UA.

Thanks, Thuryl.

Due to a bug reported by Thuryl, all of you should replace t21Galthrax with the one available for download here.

Sorry, Thuryl, but I completely don't understand the logic of changing that line. I've been looking at it for a while now, and I have to admit that I don't get it. Would you mind explaining? (Possibly over AIM, if I'm around?)

Also, under what circumstances do you get an infinite loop?

EDIT: After an AIM conversation, it looks like that's probably not the problem. However, I do see one way that you could get an infinite loop. If you open up t2altar.txt and find line 352. It's in state 32, where the first "while" loop begins.

Put in this code:
while ((i < 4) && (j == 0)) {
if (char_ok(i))
if ((char_loc_y(i) >= 39) || (char_loc_y(i) <= 22))
j = 1; // break
i = i + 1;
}
That should fix one of the problems that would create an infinite loop, which is that one would occur if a member of the party dies.

As I've menntioned before, my favorite ending was unaligned, when I killed every leader of every faction (the three drayks, Barzahl, Zakary, and Learned Pinner), destroyed both research centers (the Magus Complex and the Radiant College), and destroyed the Geneforge. Oh, and I killed Stanis to avenge Shanti, too. I basically killed and destroyed everything.

I think I called that save file, "Obliteration." :P
