Okay, I realize this is over, but I didn't get to it until just now. Does anyone else think it's funny that Overwhelming could only defend himself by trying to claim that people hadn't read his post thoroughly?

Let this be a lesson to all: restate, rephrase, and reword your argument in order to clarify it and differentiate it from others' misrepresentations or misinterpretations, if that is in fact the problem.

Oh, and if God's hold on these kids is so tenuous that it can be broken by reading a few books of fantasy, then perhaps these kids didn't really believe in the first place.

Funny, I was just playing Ferazel's Wand for the first time in several years. And apparently the sequel (sort of) will come out not that long from now.

Shapers are totally habnabits. It all makes sense now.

Sometimes I think more direct democracy would be a good thing, and then I look at public opinion poll results, and I change my mind.

This feels like a poll, so...

1. Uh, possibly.

2. Definitely yes, in the AT. But not in BoA.

3. All the time, yes.

4. Sometimes.

5. No, not really. The HLPM cures me of such doubts.

6. Heh, that's amusing. No, but I probably will now..

7. Yes, darn it, yes.

8. No, not really.

9. Nope.

Pathfinder does that for sure, but I've noticed that swamps sometimes don't poison my party even without Pathfinder, and I've never known why. I'm willing to believe that it's related to Cave Lore.

By '65, the Stones had hit the scene. "Satisfaction" is clearly more metal than "Ticket To Ride," although that's not saying much. Metal didn't really start until '67 or '68, so lots of things would've sounded pretty heavy prior to that.

The Beatles definitely pushed the envelope, though — who could imagine the people who sang "I Want To Hold Your Hand" later singing "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds"? It would be like the Backstreet Boys coming out with "Antichrist Superstar."

I'm trying to come up with something like "Birthday" from the rest of the Beatles' body of work, and I'm seriously failing. Maybe the verses from the title track off Sgt. Pepper (but not the chorus). Maybe "Back in the USSR" — but only the speed, not the vocal quality. Uh... that's about it. If you normally like heavy metal, but you didn't like "Helter Skelter," there may be no hope here.

EDIT: Now I'm listening to those songs, and no, not even those, really.

This was harder than I expected. My favorite is "Let It Be," followed by (in no particular order): "Helter Skelter," "Yer Blues," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," and "A Day In The Life."

EDIT: And honorable mention to the solo tracks "Imagine" and "Live And Let Die" (the latter if only because GNR did a hell of a good version of it).

"A Large Rebellion" Questions in Blades of Avernum
Off With Their Heads
Member # 4045

For anyone who can't tell (I couldn't), the scenario in question is A Large Rebellion.

And virtually no bugs in BoA show up only on a Mac.

But anyway, whew! Alint pops up a host of errors for ALR. The designer really ought to clean up the scripts.

And are you sure it was a "missing line 90" error, and not a "missing semi-colon in line 90" or something of that nature?

EDIT: Assuming you're talking about town 0, the offending line is line 90, where the call this_char_is_in_party is used. That call doesn't take arguments, and it can only be used in a creature script. What he intended was character_in_party, not this_char_is_in_party.

If you want to fix it yourself, open the script t0nout.txt and find line 90, which current reads:
if (this_char_is_in_party(1226)) Replace that with this line:
if (character_in_party(1226)) I think that should fix the problem.

Then again, Ash says that "not very inspiring" bit about everything that I tell him about my scenarios, so I wouldn't take that too much to heart.
