Too late! I worked it out...

Okay, King Micah decides that he'll let non-humans such as ogres and goblins live in peace with Avernum, since he's been accused of going all "Hawthorne" by the PC-brigade. In order to show he's prepared to do this, he hires an Ogre Chef to work in the kitchens of The Castle.

Unfortunately, the Ogre is a double agent for the Vahnatai Against Humans group, and slips poison into the soup. Everyone in The Castle dies, except Rone (because we love him, and he forgot how to use a spoon). Then, with Micah dead, there is a civil war to find a successor.

The rest of the details are a little iffy at the moment...

I'm dreading the return of Grah Hoth. He was "killed" last time, and Linda managed to bring him back. Now that the Vahnatai and Grah-Hoth have a common enemy in Avernum, I think he might rear his ugly head.

I will buy it though, unless whilst playing the shareware I develop a deadly allergy to it.

"The graphics are nowhere near finished - the reason the human PCs look like Shapers and Guardians is because it was easier to make them fit this graphics format than make Avernum graphics fit it or create new ones from scratch. There will be many new graphics in future versions. Also, Avernum graphics are worse than GF and Exile graphics.

Also, the engine is very, very different. In my opinion, it combines the better elements of the Avernum and Geneforge series. Movement is turn-based, and combat displays the grid like the previous Avernums. The spell system is massively improved, and there are some things that everyone wanted that are in there.

I voted for Solar Power all the way across the boards.

When the oil runs out, we're pretty much screwed. Not only do we guzzle it for fuel, but plastics and paints and other such things need it.

I would love to see huge fields of hamsters running in their little balls generating electrickery though...

Am I the only one wholly looking forward to this thing? I've looked around, and it all sounds good. Better graphics, turn-based movement (thank you Lord), still based in Avernum. Excellent. And the bit that seems to worry me the most isn't definate. We don't know monster plagues exist. And there are certainly more than one race of the underworld... demons, sliths and vahnatai all come from down *there*.

Plus, with the spell system being reworked and "something everyone wanted" being implemented (thanks Drakey), it looks like we'll have lots of cool fireworks. And they might even include area spells!

As for the tentacle monster, I'm going with TM. Just because it's the done thing.

And blue eyes aren't all that bad. I do prefer green/hazel, but blue is statistically rarer. Or so I heard.

I totally hate eggs. Possibly due to a story someone told me when I was five...

As for killing time, I don't tend to. I don't appreciate time as much as I should, and if I do something I don't schedule it. It happens when it does, and takes as long as it needs.

If you do want to while it away though, read "Saint Morrissey", by Mark Simpson. It's a wonderful book.
